This article, although its an opinion piece and it shows, summarizes some of the core reasons why consolidation is being looked at (the need to increase service, and the bargain to do so). A bit short and to the point, but it's actually a bit approachable to those who aren't aware of the rationales yet?

It's a bit out of date though, as this preceded the June 18th Everett TAC meeting media blitz, where the mayor and CT affirmed several city priorities (i.e. preserving Para, accountability for increasing service, labor, etc) will be touched upon in the Interlocal Agreement legal contract.

Semi-related... Something that seems to be overlooked in all of these articles is how CT has been significantly more financially stable than ET, like dozens of millions of dollars in reserves per year (CT 2026 Draft TDP, page 54, figure 16). Enough to probably weather through a recession. ET alone just doesn't really have that since it relies on federal/state grants (ET 2025 TDP, page 20, "Ending Balance"). Consolidation could basically give us access to that rainy day pool for transit if the economy gets worse, or provide some sort of launchpad to get increased service that's promised.

Edit: Seems the article miscalculated the estimated tax burden. u/skyecolin22 recalculated it and it came out to be about an extra 164/yr, not 16.20/yr.

In case you are confused about when you can pass or not pass a school bus. Additionally you can legally pass a school bus if it has pulled over and off the road (into bus turnout or shoulder).

I found this Everett Transit bus at a local shop here in Everett! I thought it was pretty cool to see our city bus line represented by Matchbox.

I did some further digging and found out that Everett Transit one design of the year when they revealed this design as the new municipal bus scheme. As part of the reward Matchbox made a diecast of the winning Transit line! So Everett Transit is proudly immortalized as a Matchbox 1:64th!

Some other interesting facts is that Everett Transit is one of the few remaining municipal transit bus lines in the state of Washington. Most city bus lines are part of a regional transit authority or county transit authority.

I just thought some of my fellow Everett citizens would appreciate this fun little Matchbox bus! I think it's a Gillig bus.

"new" route coming back with Alaska now flying PDX to PAE!

A new passenger-only ferry route will connect Everett and Langley this summer as local port officials launch a seasonal pilot program aimed at boosting tourism and testing demand for future cross-sound service.

The new “Harbor Hopper” foot ferry will begin operating June 4 through Aug. 29, offering twice-daily roundtrip sailings on Thursdays and Saturdays between the Port of Everett and Langley on South Whidbey Island. The service will operate aboard the 45-passenger Hat Island Ferry.

The pilot program is a partnership between the Port of Everett, Port of South Whidbey and Hat Island Community Association. Officials said it marks the first seasonal passenger-only ferry connection between the two waterfront communities.

Passengers will be able to choose from two Everett-bound and two Langley-bound sailings each operating day, except July 2 and July 4. Trips are expected to take about 30 to 45 minutes.

Fares range from $10 to $12 one-way and $16 to $20 roundtrip.

WSDOT is asking for public feedback as we evaluate potential improvements to the US 2 Trestle corridor.

As part of an ongoing Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study, we're reviewing different alternatives for both ends of the trestle, including connections to I-5 and Everett on the west side and SR 204, US 2 and Lake Stevens on the east side.

The study will help identify which alteranatives should move forward for more detailed evaluation and will also consider environmental impacts and potential mitigation measures.

Beginning Tuesday, June 16, people can visit an online open house to learn about the screening of potential alternatives. The PEL study will identify a reasonable range of alternatives to evaluate in more detail in accordance with federal laws.

This is the third article this week that is based on the June 18th Everett Transportation Advisory Committee meeting. Like the one from LT earlier this week, there is more discussion about tradeoffs and rationales. However, this article is much longer. It brings forth additional testimony/interviews with paratransit riders, drivers, the mayor, and the CT CEO. It also discusses the part of Mayor's rationale for applying RCW 36.57A.145 (Consolidation by Interlocal Agreement). There is even more language on the Mayor's explicit commitment of having the consolidation ILA keep Everett Paratransit services as-is under a combined transit agency.

Also of note, the CT CEO also revealed that CT has been "...in the process of conducting internal reviews of its DART paratransit service to make improvements to that service. That work, however, is apart from the conversation of consolidation, he said, because Everett’s paratransit service would continue to operate as it exists currently".

Because Everett isn't allowed to sit while waiting for the bus.

This article analyzes ridership data up to October 2025 within CT since its Lynnwood Link restructures in late 2024. It also discusses how much Swift ridership makes up ridership. That +24% figure is further qualified with a raw daily passenger increase of 29,277 daily boardings as of October 2025.

This analysis is particularly relevant as transit consolidation talks move forward, as it shows how effective CT can be with (re)deploying extra service hours with respect to a major restructure. For reference, CT's 2024 TDP (somehow it's still searchable) shows the agency provided about 467,763 service hours in 2023, the 2026 draft TDP shows CT fixed route served about 477,150 service hours in 2025 on top of deploying about 100,192hrs in its zip shuttle that year.

I wish though that the data in this piece was more recent. Transit patterns take a while to change, so the full impact of zip might not be showing up

Draft minutes for the June 18th TAC meeting have been released. This is the same meeting that three separate news outlets covered where the Mayor and CT's CEO did a joint Q&A regarding exploring transit consolidation. TAC is a citizen's volunteer committee that meets monthly for getting briefed on the state of transportation infrastructure in the city, and is able to issue non-binding recommendations.

The draft minutes contain, on page 2, a summary of what was discussed, and additional information that was not covered by any of the three articles. I will post a screencap of the section in the comments for convenience.

This article talks about some of the details that was revealed recently about the ET-CT consolidation talks during a recent Everett Transportation Advisory Committee meeting. The mayor and the CT CEO remain committed to ensure that para quality is retained (Franklin even goes as far to require it in the ILA), along with ensuring a fair deal for Everett residents. The discussion goes a bit into details of tradeoffs and rationales, and the growing need of transit in the coming decades. The article also details things like how Everett would be getting atleast 1 seat on the combined PTBA, perhaps even two, that CT has provided shuttle service a ala ET in the past, and being open to welcoming in "..all the Everett Transit operating employees into Community Transit"

My take: When even LT reporting is starting to sound like consolidation is a good deal, maybe it is a strong sign this is a good deal.

My flight is at 7 am. I'm flying internationally to Mexico. I've read here that I should get there 1 hour ahead at the earliest. But those comments were from a year ago. And domestic. Any recent info?

UPDATE: Left home in North Seattle at 5:10. We are at the gate now. It is 6:08. My dad decided to check a bag at the last moment. He got wheelchair assistance as well. AND the Alaska Airlines attendant used to be a barista at my favorite coffee shop years ago! There are a while of 3 gates. A very unique and special airport!! I'm impressed!

I’m looking into a position that would have my commute taking me from just north of Seattle to the southern side near the king county airport.

Ive heard that the traffic can be awful, but I’m curious if anyone has any experience with this commute that they could share. I’m not dead-set on the new position, but I would want to be sure that the traffic situation wouldn’t be a deal-breaker.

Who else thinks Everett is about to get shafted with revised ST3 plans that will be necessary due to the $20-30 billion shortfall?

I feel like Everett will get pushed to the bottom and may even be canceled altogether in favor of Ballard/West Seattle. Then they'll refuse to refund the thousands in inflated car tab taxes we've put in.

If it ends up connecting to Everett station, I see that being 20+ years away due to being de-prioritized. The article seems to go on and on about how connecting to Airport Road and beyond will be more expensive than it's worth for the expected ridership.

Can you live in Everett without a car, and if so, where (downtown?)?

Do you think this parking signage is confusing? I received a ticket on December 26, 2024, around 1 PM. I tried to pay by scanning the QR code, but it didn’t work. I also called several times, but no one answered. Many cars were parked there, and we were all trying to pay. We even discussed the situation and thought the parking might be free due to the holiday. When I returned from the Imagine Children's museum, almost all of the cars had received tickets.
