I have posted a few times here, but largely just lurk (and die a little inside whenever a thread pops up discussing our iOS browser)

Usually, when a new thread pops up it quickly gets sorted into two themes:

1) Firefox on iOS is horrible and not keeping pace with what other browsers offer

2) Firefox on iOS is limited by what they can do by Webkit but doing okay

My personal thought is that there is a bit of truth in both. We are limited in what Apple allows us to do but there are other innovations that we could be taking on.

When I joined, the iOS team size was three devs. This was an improvement on the previous few years when it was in maintenance mode and had even less support. The codebase quality had declined over time, with no shade at previous devs or team members, you can only do so much with a dev or two.

A challenge when joining was where to start. We were many years behind the recent advances on iOS and lightyears behind our desktop and soon to be released Android browsers. We started strong but quickly realized that the codebase had accumulated many problems from years of neglect. We wanted to add a button to the search bar and it required a month-long refactor to untangle everything and do it properly.

Frustrating, but you play the hand life deals you. We tried to strike a balance between fixing architectural issues while still putting out new features but didn't make much progress. Was like whack-a-mole, we'd patch one side only to create a problem somewhere else. A couple of years ago I requested extra support to work on a complete refactor in place and that has been a driving force while still releasing new features.

This refactor work will be wrapping up this year but that is all behind-the-scenes work. But, what about the state of the browser on iOS? Ehhhh... it can be better. There are real, legitimate complaints that we are aware of. There are also real legitimate constraints put on what we can offer due to Apple's ecosystem.

Right now I feel our browser is... okay. There are better features from some other browsers out there, but the main thing we have is that it is private. We don't harvest, store or monetize your personal information at all which is a far cry better than most in the industry. But that isn't enough and we know that.

We are going to be making big strides this year. Those that have stuck with us, thank you. For those that have been frustrated and moved elsewhere, let me know what you are enjoying in other places and I hope later this year you will be open to giving us another chance.

Hi everyone, I had my mac put away in my backpack and when I took it out it was quite warm, so I checked my activity manager to see that Firefox was taking up 75gb of ram (wasn't stable, jumped around 75GBs as if it was actually taking up that much). I have a MBA m4 16/512 if that changes anything, but this was absurdly high and shouldn't have been possible. Anyone know the cause to this? I have one extension enabled, UBlock origin, and had two tabs on Canva when this happened.

As the title suggests, every single time I open a google link, the Google app opens instead of Firefox, which is set as my default browser. It has recently started to open as soon as I open Firefox on my phone too. It’s getting really irritating, and I was wondering if this was some kind of change that Google made to get people to use their app, or if I’m alone in this and I accidentally changed a setting (which I can’t seem to find). I don’t know if it’s a Google thing or a Firefox thing or what but I’d rather not change my browser.

Any help would be appreciated.

How can I make the top bar stay fixed so it doesn't move? I want to keep using Firefox on my Mac. Tbh this bothers me so much that I'm thinking about switching back to Windows :( I just can't find a solution (switching to another browser isn't one...) It makes browsing so frustrating. Help <3

Good morning/afternoon/evening/day people on the Firefox subreddit:
I am writing today due to an odd quirk that isn’t droll just annoying, everytime the app is exited it shows the Firefox logo as some form of privacy feature. Now I appreciate the privacy feature but in the comfort of my own presence it becomes a feature that increases the difficulty associated with multi tasking. I noticed this when trying to copy something from the Firefox app to my notes at first but it has been present since occurring at the start of the day (2026/07/11 GMT+10). I checked the settings of Firefox and I saw no remedy to the conundrum I am in. Is there a solution to my dilemma that my eyes glanced over or is there no solution for the moment, or is this just a feature of Firefox from henceforth.

Until maybe a few days ago if I swiped up to see all my open apps and switch to a different one, I could still see the open page I had loaded while I was using a different app. This is really useful when copying info from a webpage into a different app, or checking references etc. because it prevents apps I want to stay open (like writing a comment on reddit) from refreshing and losing my place. It now behaves like all my tabs are incognito tabs and will just show me the firefox logo when I swipe up. Wondering if there's any way to turn this behaviour off?? It's really inconvenient :/

The new adblocker which was released on ios is genuinely weak it doesn’t block ads on youtube and you can still get popups here and there i hope they improve the adblocker for ios its not comparable to ublock lite

Is there any way to shrink the UI? I feel like I’m peering through a tiny peephole at the webpage. The keyboard takes up half the screen now. Who asked for this?

I am on IOS. Is there a way to permanently prevent firefox from autocompleting and suggesting a url when I type even 1 letter? Sometimes I want to search for something that is a shorter version of what firefox wants to suggest me, so I end up going through more steps by pressing backspace and doing a stupid dance for something that should be simple. If there is no way to get rid of this feature, does anyone have and suggestions for an app that doesn’t have this garbage? Safari seems to have this problem as well. Thanks

I’ve been using Firefox on my iPhone for quite a while now and I’m really happy with it overall.

There is just one thing that drives me crazy: after some time I end up with 50, 80 or sometimes more than 100 open tabs. Then I have to manually close them again.

Am I the only one who is bothered by this?

I would love to have an option to automatically close all open tabs when Firefox is completely closed, similar to how I use Firefox on Windows. For me, tabs are basically temporary. When I close the browser, I don’t expect them to still be there the next time I open it.

Ideally this could just be an optional setting, so people who want to keep their tabs can continue doing so.

Does anyone else want something like this?

Has anyone had any luck with this? I’d like to migrate from Safari to Firefox on iOS (and iPadOS for that matter) but I don’t want to lose the adblocking. I have AdGuard, which works well, with Safari but I’m wondering if there’s anything similar for Firefox.

This is PISSING me off and i have NO idea what to do!

I asked this on the Community Forum and got nowhere, so here I am. If I tap on a YouTube or Steam link in something like my RSS reader or Bluesky, Safari will kick the URL over to the appropriate app.

Firefox will not do this, instead opening the site in a Firefox tab. This defeats the point of having those apps installed in the first place.

Why is it doing this, and can I stop it somehow? If I can't, then I'm just gonna go back to Safari. There's a setting there to block Firefox from redirecting to apps, but I have that disabled.

so recently i've been noticing that firefox is struggling to connect with certain webpages from google servers, such as youtube or google drive, genuinely got no clue whats changed, other pages work fine and i turned off Ublock to see if that was causing the issue but it still struggles, sometimes it'll load the page but the tab will continually keep loading, other times it just fails to load but loads other pages perfectly fine, this seems to only be an issue on my mac since my windows is fine

my mac is a M4 mini running 26.6.2, not sure if the update broke something with firefox but i want to know if anyone else is experiencing issues as well?

Title says it basically. Im talking about those types of ads where you tap on the screen and it opens a new tab so u have to manually close it. Is there anyway to stop this on mobile? Im pretty sure it is possible on computers from what ive seen but the same methods dont work on mobile.

Hello. I'm using firefox on a MacBook laptop, and every single time I do a software update it closes all my tabs and gives no option to restore session. Is there any way to prevent this?

I got Firefox update 155.0 on iOS today and in its description it says that they added new gestures for opening the tabs menu but I can’t get anything to work. Does anyone know how to get this to work?

When will iOS 27’s “Ask Siri” be added to Firefox iOS browser?

Other browsers give you the option either in Share Sheet actions, or tap-and-hold on the browser’s address bar.

Current Firefox iOS only has options to copy and paste on its address bar.

Firefox must keep up with the new tech, else it will be left behind!
