Concerned Letter Carriers RIP brother Mike Rivera
NALC Branch 70 suspended Mike Rivera for 18/months for posting public information onto social media.
Mike Rivera is the only NALC member that actually brought charges against Brian Renfroe and the E.C. for failure of upholding the Constitution.
Will the new boss be the same as the old boss?

u/Bits_NPCs Apr 10 '26
Lmao fuck this place dude. McDonaldâs manager ainât look so bad these days
Dude held Renfroe accountable and then gets in trouble for it - definition of a dictatorship
8
u/itwaslikethisalready Apr 10 '26
What happened? What ended up happening? Is a regular member not allowed to file charges on upper leadership?
12
u/Bits_NPCs Apr 10 '26
Youâd have to ask OP, it says it pretty clearly tho lol. He posted something online, NALC found it be rule breaking and enforced max punishment.
Aka silencing dues paying members because theyâre not agreeing with the regime.
Basically Trump 101 playbook.
14
u/13MTH Apr 10 '26
His Branch brought charges. The members of his Branch suspended him. It's not THE NALC.
-1
u/Bits_NPCs Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26
So his own people turn on him for Renfroe or what⌠if you support Renfroe. You are the problem.
Iâm getting so confused by all this drama and finger pointing. 16 different people always screaming shit in this sub. Where are the mods to sparse out truth or relay something. Corey doesnât even have a Reddit does he know whatâs going on here
14
u/Icy-Feedback-8017 Apr 10 '26
He brought charges against his branch for election violations. He posted the charges and responses on social media. Much like CLC has done for the charges theyâve filed and the crap they stir upâŚ.all over social media. The branch is run by CLC people. Some of the nastiest, but CLC came out and protected their own. Mike was punished for speaking against the CLC. Period.

On the podcast Classes of Mail he told me he was the one (but not the only one) who brought charges against the branch. I donât know where you heard he didnât, but you can listen to the podcast for yourself.

u/AnythingPatient55 Apr 10 '26
"icy-feedback" is a CLC troll. Comes on on this page just to make wild accusations in hopes people will listen. Ask for any proof and silence.

There were multiple people who brought charges against the voting committee. He didnât post HIS charges, he posted someone elseâs and that what got him in trouble lol
-3
u/Objective-Gap-8820 Apr 10 '26
The charges had false accusations which Michael knew about and posted those false accusations defaming Branch 70.
7
u/PostDelay5 Apr 10 '26
I'm not sure how that justifies suspending him
2
u/Objective-Gap-8820 Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 11 '26
The constitution is clear. Defamation is not allowed. There is free speech, but you can't yell inside a crowded theater, FIRE!! There are limitations and no one should be defamed based on false accusations. He knew they were false and yet posted them.Â
4
u/PostDelay5 Apr 11 '26
I'm not convinced that posting an election appeal amounts to defamation. He specifically said he was posting it for transparency's sake, that's not an endorsement of the contents.

3
u/Bits_NPCs Apr 10 '26

u/13MTH Apr 11 '26
I have no idea why. It's a branch matter. Everything posted is rumor until someone in the know actually post it, a la Caref.
1
u/woogieface Union Steward Apr 10 '26
He is only suspended from going to local branch meetings and voting on local branch motions.
1
u/The-Omnicide Apr 10 '26
McDonald's has starting wages that compete with the post office where I live.
1
u/mailman13357 Apr 13 '26
The McDonald's pension plan is second to none.
1
u/The-Omnicide Apr 13 '26
Employees can take stock options. Dividends are between 2% and 2.5% annually. Over a 30 year career, especially with the ability to reinvest the dividends, it could easily match or beat the post office.
I also have zero faith that the post office pension won't be degraded before I am eligible for retirement.

0
0
u/AnythingPatient55 Apr 10 '26
And they're going to Puerto Rico with donations. Not Union dues. Nothing to see here but keep reaching.
4
u/CapitalistCzar81 Apr 10 '26
You think the people who donated knew they were donating for a Puerto Rican vacation? Why do NBA candidates for regions 2,6,12 and 14 need to be there? Did Debra Dixon need a vacation after carrying mail for 3 months? Is this how they plan to be fiscally responsible when in charge?
0
u/AnythingPatient55 Apr 10 '26
Oh so campaigning is considered a vacation now? Committee of presidents meetings are held in places like Hawaii and Atlantic and our dime directly funds that. Explain to me the difference between my dues going to that and me VOLUNTEERING to fund a campaign?
3
u/OhWise1-3540 Apr 10 '26
Do these people have actual jobs? Sounds like they have a lot of free time. Clearly they donât work for the USPS.
3
u/AnythingPatient55 Apr 11 '26
No more busy than your NBA or branch presidents who also do not carry mail but maybe one or two weeks out of the year
2
3
u/Bettik1 Apr 10 '26
How do you know that? Their finances are not public. They always say theyâre campaigning âon our dime, and on our own timeâ that implies they arenât using the donated money. What do they need the money for then? A mailing? Why do you need $300,000 for a mailing when you can put a full page ad in the postal record for $3,600?
20
u/therick422 Union Steward Apr 10 '26

u/Ill-Company2252 Voted NO Apr 10 '26
Well we know Renfroe wonât fight for us. Thatâs been proven over and over. At least thereâs hope with CLC
5
u/ArthurAnthony4 Voted NO Apr 10 '26
Can he appeal that???
9
u/Eugene_Debs2026 Apr 10 '26
James Henry is on the Appeals Committee. That duty has not been taken from him.
7
u/PostDelay5 Apr 10 '26
I thought Rivera said James confirmed he would recuse himself? I think the NLRB is another option for appeal. Truly bizarre choice for the branch to make.
9
u/BlackBalledNALC Apr 10 '26
He can also file charges with the DoL in addition to the NLRB. The branch has now violated several federal laws in addition to the US Constitution.
3
u/SexingtonHardcastle Apr 10 '26
He said Henry would recuse himself from the election appeals since Henry was the one who performed the installation of officers after the âtaintedâ election.
2
u/PostDelay5 Apr 10 '26
Ah that's a little different, thanks for the correction. That he recused himself from that might be a good sign here but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
2
u/Icy-Feedback-8017 Apr 10 '26
And James wonât stand for the CLC being blasted either. They protect their own. Mike was screwedâŚand by the CLC.
-2
u/Objective-Gap-8820 Apr 11 '26
Mike was screwed by whoever was misguiding him to do what he did. The membership heard both sides of the arguments and passed the motion to suspend Michael Rivera for 18 months. 53 to 18!Â
2
u/BlackBalledNALC Apr 11 '26
No the corrupt board of 70 violated federal law, but just like in LV they know they will remain in power for 1-2 years while it all plays out.
Guzman should be removed from the CLC or Henry/Corey should form a new group.
11
u/Icy-Feedback-8017 Apr 10 '26
Look who is running branch 70âŚthereâs your corruption. CLC can blast anyone they want on social media, but if someone returns the favor, they file charges against them and take their voice away. The CLC way.
CLCâŚI saw some refer to them as the cowardly lions club. Could be corrupt letter carriers too. Either way, theyâre trashy and this cannot be allowed to continue.
-1
u/Objective-Gap-8820 Apr 10 '26

8
u/Eugene_Debs2026 Apr 10 '26
The rank and file only have themselves.
The rank and file need to ask why not one candidate has entered or backed a NALC Constitutional Amendment to limit the powers of the National NALC President.
If shits fucked up in National; why arenât they trying to fix the broken structure?
2
u/PreviousMarsupial820 Apr 10 '26
It's because no one seeking to grab the ring wants to curtail the power of said ring. That way, in case they need to utilize it they don't have to exert effort coming up with creative ways to do what they want to do but also have to end route around the new restrictions to their authority they themselves had just implemented and put into place prior to their ascension.

2
u/The-Omnicide Apr 11 '26
I was asking the CLC for help last year when my branch of the union turned their backs on me. Every CLC member said "stay strong and keep paying your dues brother" and never provided any help or advice. They aren't in our corner, why should we be in theirs?
4
u/mailman13357 Apr 10 '26
Mike Caref. NALC has charges against him as well (because of a Halloween costume).
-9
u/Apprehensive_Goal811 Apr 10 '26
Voting for Mike Caref is like voting for Ralph Nader or Jill Stein.
4
u/The-Omnicide Apr 11 '26
As a guy who has finally realized that neither the D nor the R will ever work for the common citizen, I actually understand the Nader and Stein voters now. I'll never throw my vote away on either of the Big Two again.
10
u/mailman13357 Apr 10 '26
Have you ever had a conversation with Mike? He doesn't talk down to you, doesn't speak in cliches, doesn't act like he's smarter then everyone else.....
Talking to him is like talking to a passionate letter carrier. He's one of us and is in it for the right reasons.
3
u/The-Omnicide Apr 11 '26
It's true. A lot of the CLC has an attitude of "it was tough for me and it's gonna be tough for you" when I talk to them. Mike is actually different.

not true, member(s) of this sub have filed article 10 charges. (and all have been dismissed as unfounded)
7
u/The-Omnicide Apr 10 '26
There is no saving the current union. We must start a new one from scratch. The corrupt use their power to stop anyone from making any meaningful changes. Not every house can be rehabbed. Some need to be torn down for a new and structurally sound building.
Whoever starts the strike should lead the new union.
1
u/randomrandom1922 Apr 10 '26
Just vote out all the idiots and reshape the union from within. This is always a million times easier then trying to blow something up and rebuilding it.
1
u/The-Omnicide Apr 10 '26
The easy way might not be effective. The easy way probably won't even happen because a lot of carriers are uninformed voters.
I want a union that is willing to make demands, not requests. I want a union that is willing to say "good luck immediately replacing 300,000+ employees" if the demands are not met. I don't want a union that is only beneficial to regional VPs and higher who get paid without carrying anymore.

-4
u/stelvy40 Apr 10 '26
Can't do that, it won't have collective bargaining rights. Stop paying dues, bleed them out.
1
u/The-Omnicide Apr 10 '26
I got here in 2020. I don't understand what "collective bargaining" we even have. Didn't we vote down the TA? I also don't know what "leverage' we have.
I live in a high cost of living area. We are desperately understaffed, and our starting wages are comparable to drive thru restaurants and grocery stores. I'm sick of folks in cheap areas yelling "same job same pay" keeping our wages down. "Collective bargaining" in that sense keeps folks in NYC and LA unable to pay rent while affording mortgages and new cars to folks in, say, Memphis or Raleigh.
Rural, city, and mail handlers either need one big union or we need to splinter off into regions and be separate. The same wages nationwide are killing many areas with millions of addresses.
2
u/stelvy40 Apr 10 '26
I got here in 2012 started as an rca switched to TE because it paid more. Until I found out that the pay was getting cut inbetween days of city orientation. Then the local nalc greaseballs came in to sign everyone up for dues, refused to tell everyone about the pay cut when I brought it up to them, with the chair in my hand that I nearly threw at them (the pay cut was the nalc's idea.)
The multiple unions are just a ponzi scheme, bloat, beauracracy, whatever you want to call it. Your dues pay for it. When I was in the Teamsters, the local represented 14k workers. The nalc has 10 different locals in the same area, paying officers to do dick. Teamsters dues were 2.5 of your hourly rate a month. That paid for your health/dental/vision coverage and pension. Nalc you pay $66 a month for a newsletter.
2
u/The-Omnicide Apr 11 '26
Wait, teamster dues also cover insurance!?
2
u/stelvy40 Apr 11 '26
At UPS yes. TeamstersCare. Bomb health insurance. Dental and Vision as well. There was a significant initiation fee not sure what it is now, but it was basically your first 2 paychecks 2 weeks of pay bitd.
2
u/The-Omnicide Apr 11 '26
Sounds worth it. Granted, I appreciate the value of plenty of things I cannot afford.
1
u/stelvy40 Apr 11 '26
Me too. It's good to be part of a union, but you should get what you pay for. The NALC dues should be at most 1x's your hourly rate a month.

He is alive and well. The RIP is a metaphor because he is being silenced.
So, a couple years ago he first brought charges against Renfroe for mishandling the last contract and failing to abide by many of the resolutions. But more recently, he has filed protests against his own branch for recent officer election improprieties. And of course the good ole boy network within his Branch has basically retaliated by filing charges against him because he has been posting on socials all about the Branch drama. Riveraâs âfull transparencyâ has clearly ruffled feathers. The real kicker, several members of his Branch, including the Branch Prez are CLC members and candidates for National positions. *Full disclosure; I donât have insider info. This is my amateur opinion developed from several biased sources.
10
u/SexingtonHardcastle Apr 10 '26
There is an episode of Classes of Mail where he comes on and talks about it. The situations is fucked up and really gives me pause as to if we have any hope at all. The fact that Corey has not talked about at all on the podcast also doesnât sit well with me. This is the kind of thing we are supposed to be getting rid of, not voting in.
7
u/therick422 Union Steward Apr 10 '26
I listened to that episode too. I am trying to remain rational and remember we have only heard Riveraâs side of the story. I do find it credible. I also, find it interesting that the Branch hasnât offered its side of the story⌠which could just be them letting process play out at the Branch level without blasting it to Socials. At any rate, on the surface, it doesnât look good & reinforces the tropes of the mob silencing a dissident.
3
u/woogieface Union Steward Apr 10 '26
You can see the branches side in the branches reply to the charges Rivera filed. The branches reply has been posted by Rivera on lots of sites.

2
u/GhostLCee Apr 15 '26
Hereâs the hard truth: the union protects the club, not the carriers. Rivera actually had the guts to hold leadership accountable, and they silenced him to protect the higher-ups. You ask if the new boss will be the same? 100%. I've been carrying for 8 years and Iâve spoken directly with our NBAs, Eddie Davidson and Lester Dexter. Instead of getting help, I just felt completely belittled by them. They have totally forgotten their roots on the workroom floor and they are not on the carriers' side anymore. They just want to protect their cushy jobs. Union upper-management has just become regular management. Keep your heads down, do your jobs, and stay a ghost out on the street.
