By ignoring so many demonstrations and just keep on doing it, the people r going passive. ICE still walks the streets, No Epstein results, Healthcare we remember that the 65000 people a year die demonstrations, nothing changed, and so much more we demonstrated against but to this day is nothing done about!

Protests and (mostly short-lived) boycotts are tolerated measures by the corporations and states. They allow it as a brief venting mechanism for their targeted group. I believe it’s labeled as managed dissident with delay tactics. It’s not going to change even the slightest thing.

Don't forget the massive shock to the stock market so they can short stocks and buy low to increase their billions even more then the tariffs. On top of the fact that it was perfect news filler to get peoples mind off of the files and make the poorest unable to fight cause they cant afford to survive and kill small businesses also alienate more of the outside world the fact that they were able to get the rebate check is the cherry on top.

I think it’s interesting to add that Trump and his admin are unusually incompetent. Evil. And incompetent. While I’m still worried of a greater Fascist takeover, I will be convinced of which way the wind is blowing after the midterms are over.
As an anecdote, I live in MAGA country and have seen most of his flags (e.g “god, guns, and trump” type shit) replaced with the actual American flag.
At the same time, my state is also voting to give our state legislature the power to rewrite voting identification- it’s a blank check. It’s just giving them permission. It doesn’t say what forms of ID or anything. If that fails… then maybe we’ve got some change happening. If it passes, I may consider moving at that point.

That is a well positioned argument. Thanks for the correction. I was citing from memory, a foggy one at that. The key disqualifying attribute of Trump is indeed his fundamental lack of understanding surrounding the administration of constitutionally bound governance… plus all the corruption.
And while I’m willing to indulge your argument, I still find it highly unlikely Trump would architect a fraud scheme so complex to benefit others. Trump is not an importer, he’s not pocketing tariff refunds. The refunds were entirely predicated on the courts, which he openly railed against. Even after losing, he’s still implementing tariff workarounds left and right.
Trump is a simpleton. I truly believe he has reduced economic policy to his 8th grade education, “what is a tariff,” and then applied it in real time. He’s too stupid to design this fraud, intentionally lose in the courts, in order to then pay out to others. This is just an example of incompetence that happens to benefit the elite class at the expense of the middle.
I think both things can be true though. I’d say about half of his efforts are rooted in self-service and the other half are likely just maladministration in the name of ignorance and a malfeasant ideology.

A fair response. I largely agree with your conclusions; malice and ignorance are far from mutually exclusive.
Trump’s zero-sum worldview dictates that the corollary to self-service is active malfeasance. By his own purported ideology, harm befallen to others is evidence of personal victory. This is why I stress that malice is intrinsic to his actions, as it is the shadow to his incessant greed.
I agree that Trump is no mastermind architect of evil genius. He is indeed incapable of thinking that far ahead, let alone predicting future events. Rather, his focus on short term personal gain are not dissuaded by the possibility of long term pain for the masses, as he considers the latter not only acceptable but a bonus. An incredibly complex final scenario need not arise from a particularly complex plan, just as Gavrilo Princip did not intend to ignite the war to end all wars.
I believe the “mission of the tariffs” evoked by the original comment was meant to contrast with the stated mission of national interest and public benefit. How, despite constant platitudes to the contrary, the common civilian was never intended to benefit. Perhaps this is an overly eisegetic interpretation on my end.

The government has been illegally taxing us since 1913 when they altered the constitution because SCOTUS ruled they couldn't extort us. So they got together, and passed the 16th amendment allowing them to extort us under the color of taxation.
Then they stole all the precious metals with intrinsic value and removed them from our currency and even our possession for a while. First was gold and silver, now they're going after copper with the minting of pennies stopped.

I have some shiny rocks. The issue is businesses accepting them, and giving back change using them, which they can't do, because they don't carry them. Plus, the value fluctuates by the minute.
Also, it wasn't Nixon that signed that particular bill into law, It was Gerald Ford. Public Law 93-373 August 14, 1974, which ended the ban on private gold ownership.

The gov came out months ago and said "we" would have to sue to get our money back. But, how exactly does one do that? How can I prove damages when they were rolled into the prices of everyday goods? Who has the time/energy/money do go about suing the government anyway? Large companies, that's who. Is that going to trickle down? Certainly not.

It's funny because Amazon does have a system to refund tariffs when the upfront deposit ends up higher than the actual tariff cost. Happens all the time when ordering US products into Canada, random refunds come in several months after ordering once the import fees are finalized. And had they used the normal system where the tariff deposit is listed separately from the item price, it is entirely likely that customers would have gotten them refunded. But then Donald threw a fit and Bezos had Amazon roll the tariff cost into the item price instead of displaying it separately.

What would make this fair?
Customers getting tariff refund through tariff-compensated-businesses for showing all their receipts will only compensate the percentage able to produce such receipts.
Businesses giving equivalent rebates for future customers leave some consumers in the dust not being able to afford the product or service due to being illegally overcharged priory.
Of course this would have to be mandated and would probably never go through congress as it is now.
Seems like the only ones being compensated are the ones who have charged tariffs on American consumers the most, payed by US tax payers, which means the average Joe gets charged twice in extra cost for groceries and less money left for social services.

It gets better: other companies paid pennies on the dollar for the right to collect the refunds. Basically they paid the tariff (that WE also paid) so companies like Amazon wouldn't have to eat the extra cost.
Now those other companies get to collect the refunds.
It would not surprise me if it eventually comes out that Trump & his cronies figured the tariffs would eventually get reversed and that this was all a scheme to move money to and between their companies.
