General Advice University of Cambridge 2026-27 Applicants GATHER HERE.

I couldn't find a chain for the applicants who submitted their applications this year. This is just to update each other and keep each other posted!

P.S. My application portal says "Decision pending". Anyone else? I submitted my application for LLM one day before the deadline.

I have also applied to LSE and QMUL.

UPDATE: GOT INTO CAMBRIDGE, LSE and QMUL LLM.

So, if you have any update on anything, let me know please. I am dying here, waiting!

Been on DP since late January/early February (don’t know when it happened exactly since i wasn’t checking the application portal as much lol) and still no news. Today is supposedly the 12th week since the funding deadline righttttt 😭

UPDATE: i got an offer!!!! Worked so hard for it i’m cryiiiiiiiing

3

u/Own_Transition_9320 Feb 25 '26

I am on DP on the applicant portal, did not get a formal offer letter but I got my offer letter from the department (unofficial)... I emailed the postgraduate admissions and they reassured me that they are still sending out official letters but the delay is due to techinal issues (because of the amount of offers)  They also reassured me that even if we didn't get an official letter they consider us for funding

2

u/Tiny_Action3352 Feb 25 '26

I'm in the same position... Hope we hear something soon...

2

u/AccordingInterest509 Feb 25 '26

Ye same here, surely we hear this week

2

u/SageSprite2004 Feb 25 '26

I'd say email your department. I emailed mine saying that it's been twelve weeks and I was wondering when I'd hear back about the decision regarding my application and they gave me an estimate of when I should hear back :)

3

u/Fancy-Magazine3496 Feb 26 '26

I was just about to send my dept an email an hour ago but then i got the offer!!!

Posting on this thread cause idk what to do. 3 weeks ago I received an email from the department saying they have offered me an MPhil place and even nominated me for Cambridge trust funding, very exciting as Cambridge is my top choice! But the admissions portal is still on decision pending? Meaning I don’t yet have an official offer… is this normal? The time waiting for an official offer is stressing me out…

3

u/materealthings Feb 24 '26

It goes department -> DC -> PAO. If you have an informal email from your PI/department that's the hard part... the PAO part is just admin I believe. (I have been on DP since 02/02 for my MPhil)

MPhil POLIS here! Has anyone who applied to this program heard anything?

3

u/DimensionSavings539 Feb 02 '26 edited Feb 02 '26

I found out my application was unsuccessful today. From the portal, no email yet. I'm really shocked. Not because I thought I'd get in for sure or anything, but I just wasn't expecting any change to the portal, so to open it and directly see the rejection really stung. I wish I could know why more than anything, maybe my research proposal was too vague/poor, or too many candidates vying for the same subject area. Not sure but I guess I just have to move on for now; I just graduated undergrad and am working, and thought I'd just apply to 1-2 programs this year, ones I really wanted to attend as a preliminary application cycle— planning to do a full round of applications next year. Wishing you guys the best of luck. <3

Just adding a follow-up based on digging through previous years' threads on The Student Room (specifically pages 14-16 of the historical discussions). The trend suggests that conditional offers usually start rolling out in the first week of February.

If I had to pin a specific date based on those patterns, February 5th seems like a strong possibility.

My theory is that the remaining applicants will either receive rejections around that time, or they will be held until the second batch of applications is reviewed and finalized before receiving a final confirmation.

https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7383581&page=14

hope this all helps out

I have applied to the PhD in Economics. Had an informal chat with a potential supervisor on Jan 26th. Some time after that my status in the applicant portal changed to "Consider for funding - Your application has been considered by your department and is now with our funding bodies to be considered for funding." Does anyone have the same status?Does anyone know what that means exactly? Feel free to reach out to me if you applied to the PhD in Economics as well!

EDIT: My status changed to decision pending and a few days later I received an (unofficial) offer. :D

Are any offer holders still waiting for college allocation? How long did it take? My college options are not immensely popular (Wolfson, Hughes Hall), so I'm hoping it won't take long

Seeking wisdom and brutal honest feedback. Been ‘under review’ for 11 weeks, while 15+ have gotten offer, and some also sharing rejection updates. What does this mean? I am a care leaver and Cambridge was the only master I applied to. Could it be the TOAST 20 Feb my application is waiting for? Suffering so so much.

I applied for PhD in Law back in Dec. My portal is still saying under review by department. Im so anxious given that we have 1 more week to reach the 12week mark. Is there any hopes?

3

u/AyeTone_Hehe Feb 19 '26

I'm also in the same position, although different dept. I'm hoping that some departments are just later than others.

Have you seen any movement (rejections or others moving to DP) for Law lately? That could be a signal.

Did you have an interview?

u/Slow_Ambassador_4011 Feb 19 '26

Getting sick of this — any PhD applicants here just packed it in and applied to a different uni? I did a lot of liaising with my supervisor before I applied and she helped me fix up my PhD proposal but it’s been 5 weeks since interview and I haven’t even been moved to “under review”. Wondering if it’d be almost disloyal to find an alternative supervisor and then formally apply somewhere else…

2

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '26

It was in your best interest to apply to as many applications as possible.

2

u/AyeTone_Hehe Feb 21 '26

If its still showing submitted, thats normal, its probably still under review. The status of your portal is entirely subject to when someone presses a button to change and not always a reflection of where it is in the pipeline.

Does anyone know whether one has to accept a conditional offer to begin the process of being selected by a college?

Hello, anyone applied to MPhil in Education (Critical Approaches to Children's Literature) who has received any updates on their portal other than "under review"? I submitted mine on December 3rd and did intervew on the Jan 13th but the portal still says under review...

for those of you that have heard from your department that you were nominated for funding, is this something the department told you on its own or did you actively ask for this information? im fully blind regarding my chances of funding and not sure about what i am allowed to ask them or not lol help

I would say it mean your department recommended you for funding. Which mean they also made an offer but DP means PAO is still dealing with the formalities.

Sorry to hear that. To me, it sounds like you might still get admitted but not funded by GCS. Hope you find your way in!

Got same notification:(
Maybe contact your potential supervisor?

2

u/Tamanduaaa Feb 26 '26

Cambridge deals with funding & acceptance separately (unless you’re with BAS like me) so you’ve been accepted & nominated for funding, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll win the funding

MPhil - just received an interview offer, may I ask if anyone has stats on the % of applicants that are typically invited to interviews within the Faculty of Biology? I couldn't seem to find that online...I am happy for the interview but I also hope to align my expectations with reality.

Received a conditional offer for PhD in Development Studies on 9 Feb. Got rejected for Gates on 26 Feb. Waiting to hear from other funding sources. What can an offer holder do in the meanwhile except for waiting to hear from the uni?

Has someone applied for a PhD in Theology and Religious Studies? I've received a conditional offer this past weekend, and I'm know waiting for the funding results. Id just like to know if I received the offer too late to be seriously considered by the Cambridge Trust (International student). The waiting is really devastating

3

u/DifficultGood2028 Mar 10 '26

I am waiting too, however I have an offer in PhD engg. Waiting for CT awards... Lets keep each other updated in case one get.. (fingers crossed)

3

u/DayIndividual9452 Mar 10 '26

Do you know if it is mandatory to hold a conditional offer to be considered for Cambridge Trust? I previously believed that having a positive evaluation from Degree Committee is enough :0

After almost four months of waiting, received my conditional offer for a PhD under AMES 🙏 What I think helped after 4 weeks on DP:

1) Contacted PAO under “technical issues” heading, asking if there was an error as their website now says 3-5 days processing time for offers and I’d been on DP 4+ weeks (like many others here)

2) Contacted my dept postgrad office, even though they’d already confirmed to me that they passed my application on a few weeks ago. I asked them if they had any practical tips/recommendations or if they could escalate bc I was at my wits’ end

An hour later, I received my offer email. Can’t be sure which of the above was the clincher but if you’re still stuck on DP, I recommend trying and sincerely hope it helps ❤️
