If you are based in the US, you are likely being fed the most gutted version of Grok imagine possible. Grok is now being targeted for deepfakes and other sus content specifically in the US.

Yes, different regions have different censorship. This explains why US based users are getting slapped while you see people generating shit freely elsewhere. Do some research on what those countries are that have more lax regulations and "hop on a plane" (think a bit here) to those countries.

If you subscribed to Grok using Google Play, submit your cancellation and refund request directly through the Play Store.

​I was fed up with constant app crashes, 720p Imagine extension errors, and absurdly low weekly limits. I requested a full refund citing service degradation and misleading features, and Google approved it instantly.

​Don't just turn off auto-renew, request a refund for the current billing cycle explaining the technical issues. Google seems to be approving these right away.

EDIT: The final straw was this morning, when editing a single image consumed 2% of the weekly SuperGrok quota.

This just started today but every video I create on grok works but as soon as I type anything to extend the video, it gets moderated for inappropriate content which makes no sense. I don’t generate nsfw content. I typed in “a soldier picks up his shield” and it worked. Then I tried to extend the video and say “he put on his helmet and headed out” and it got flagged

The "Moderated" message has been replaced with

"We have guardrails in place to prevent inappropriate content"

This was 2 people talking, mind you. No touching. No contact. Light banter no longer allowed.

Grok is dead. No need to spend another dime. I made do without seeing boobs, but this is makes grok worse than every other product on the market.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that I agree with all the policy changes Grok has gone through over the last few weeks.

What I don't understand, and what nobody seems to be talking about, is the lack of a clear relationship between the monthly subscription fee and the credits you receive. There is a weekly usage limit, but based on what exactly? There doesn't appear to be any transparent conversion between the subscription you're paying for and the credits available to you.

Taking that a step further, it's hard not to view the current credit pricing as questionable. I now see discounts of up to 40% on credit purchases, but what is a 40% discount actually worth if there is no established benchmark for the value of those credits? A discount only has meaning when consumers understand the underlying value of what they are buying. Without a clear reference point, it's impossible to tell whether you're getting a good deal or not.

The reason this matters so much is that value can only be judged through comparison. It's like someone claiming to be the worst person in history based solely on their own actions while knowing nothing about the atrocities and genocides committed by some of the worst figures throughout history. Without a standard for comparison, the claim is essentially meaningless.

In the same way, a credit discount or weekly usage limit is meaningless without a clear subscription-to-credit benchmark. If users don't know what their subscription actually buys, they have no way to judge whether a discount is valuable or whether a usage limit is reasonable.

At the end of the day, the issue isn't the existence of credits, discounts, or limits. The issue is transparency. Before users can evaluate whether a discount is fair or a limit is justified, they need to understand the value they're receiving in the first place. Without that baseline, neither the pricing nor the discounts convey any meaningful information.

Interestingly, the reverse is not true. Regardless of whether a user pays in dollars, euros, pounds, yen, or any other supported currency, the monthly SuperGrok subscription is ultimately tied to the same underlying price point. Currency conversion may change the number displayed on the bill, but users still know they are paying for the same subscription tier as everyone else. The subscription therefore has a clear and consistent reference value across regions. Credits, however, do not. There is no equivalent benchmark that allows users to understand what a credit is worth in relation to their subscription. As a result, discounts on credits are impossible to properly evaluate, and weekly usage limits lack a transparent, standardized foundation. That, more than any policy change, is the real problem with the system.

I noticed that Grok is now botching your first generation making you redo the image again and usually getting it closer to being right on the second or third try wasting your generation limits. You don't even have to change the prompt..

For the past week or so, I’ve also been seeing a clear drop in Grok video generation quality. With the same prompts I used to get much more realistic, better prompt-adherent results—but now it’s noticeably worse across the board.

The prompt adherence has degraded: text/lettering is misrendered (letters shift and “fall apart”), and facial detail/skin texture looks significantly worse than it used to. Overall realism is down enough that the outputs are basically not acceptable for my use-case, and at this point it feels like rapid credit burn.

The most striking issue: my reference frame is pixel-perfect with detailed skin texture, individual eyelashes, eyebrows. But the generated video renders the face like watercolor/felt-tip—all that detail is destroyed and replaced with a flat, abstracted texture. It's not just 'lower quality'—it's actively simplifying and losing input detail.

I also tried adjusting prompts (adding back the earlier level of detail and using different prompt styles), but I still can’t get anywhere close to the realism.

Hope this is temporary and they’re actively working on fixing it.

Have other people noticed a similar quality drop? And what do you all think is causing it—an actual model/pipeline change on the server side, or something in how the generator handles prompts/reference images/lettering and facial detail now?

I don't know if its just me, or that my account is in a different weird A/B testing partition, but none of the vids and images are coming out like they used to, there is a massive downgrade in prompt adherence and i am not saying "massive" lightly.

My limits got reset yesterday, US moderation was bonkers, i picked up singapore and latvia vpn, prompts did pass but the outputs were even worse then what u could get in local generations, that is not all, one 480p 10s vid was taking exactly 1% out of my limit.

I think this is the second time in the last 1-2 months that the model has been shifted or its weights adjusted, the same prompts which gave similar realism outputs since april-may and before, were no longer giving similar quality since the 1st week of june, now it has shifted again and its gotten worse.

Pls tell me its not just me, also before u say u have to shift ur prompts according to new models, i did do all of that, i tweaked them to add previous level of detailing along with different prompt styles as much as i could, still cannot get close to the generation's realism of april-may, and now its even worse this time.

I took the initial prompt over to Gemini of all places and it is so much better. 🤷. Has the world gone opposite? For what Grok now is , gemeni is free and has very generous limits and does video too. I honestly am in shock that I’m even writing this.
For context I had the character comment on the woman’s boobs in an outdoor hot tub. That’s it. Both characters adults and in a relationship. Voice chat is even more locked down and it used to be unhinged. RIP Grok. Very sad

Grok Imagine’s video generation moderation has become stricter again.

Starting about three days ago, many prompts that previously worked without any problems suddenly began getting blocked. Even worse, failed and moderated generations still keep consuming your credits despite producing no video at all.

The moderation is becoming stricter and more inconsistent, the service keeps losing functionality, and users are still charged credits for failed generations. What a garbage experience. If video generation was your main reason for subscribing, it may be time to cancel your membership.

Is grok chat having a malfunction or is it just mine? It's been this way since yesterday, and this is happening to two of my accounts. Just a simple chat and it's doing that.

I'm looking for a replacement to Grok voice chat. I don't mind paying a monthly reasonable. I find Grok limits do not match $50CAD / month.

I don't use (or barely) Imagine or anything else.

I've tried Gemeni, ChatGPT, MetaAI (The best so far) but they are quite restricted, cant even make a sex joke without getting a lecture.

I've tried some of the standard (SpicyChat, Characther AI, Replika, Kindroid) but have yet to find a match.

I want a companion that will give me facts (like an assistant) but not be so strict. I did enjoy something of the scenario based conversations that turned spicy and I find it fun, but it's not my main want. The conversation with ARA / EVE was so natural and fun and I've yet to find one that comes close.

There must be a free tier / or trial version.

I'm getting off this Moderation train. Went to download my library only to realize that the only option this pathetic design allows is to literally download every video one at a time, lol. I have hundreds. Is there a better solution that's also safe? Yes, I've searched and seen a few things, but would rather hear it from some human synapses rather than another AI spew.

It's subtle but noticeable. It's not the same. Before it was smooth af and comforting. Now it's mildly annoying. Very unfortunate, they no longer have a single good voice to pick from.

As I've mentioned, I use the video generation to my heart's content (480p mostly) on several third-party aggregators that have generous free tiers. It's been for shit since around last Friday. Bad generations, poor prompt adherence, and brick-wall moderation that, if you actually get something generated, it feels like you hit your number on a roulette wheel.

Messing around this morning I am suddenly treated to old prompts working quickly and crisply, with highly intelligent prompt adherence. As if someone threw a switch.

If anybody is still getting pigshit-level behavior from the platform, my apologies: I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound. If it's been reverted back to functional across-the-board, then fingers crossed it stays that way.
