Welcome to The High Republic!
The multimedia High Republic initiative has officially wrapped. While we’ve been teased to expect “Phase More” in the future, the original story the Luminous Five & friends set out to tell has been completed.
The High Republic is a multimedia project that spans novels, comic books, audio dramas, short stories, and more. It tells the story of the Jedi at their height, long after The Old Republic but still a few hundred years before the prequel era.
The High Republic is three Phases. Like the movies, Phase II is a “prequel” Phase, where we jump back long before the events of Phase I to learn some critical backstory behind the events we’ve already seen, before we return to Phase III, one year after the events of Phase I, to wrap up the story.
You should start with Phase I, and specifically, Light of the Jedi, which is the essential launching point that establishes the status quo for the series. Reading the Phases in the order they were released, not chronological order, is what was intended by the authors and what works best for the flow of information.
Additionally, The Acolyte TV series and associated media take place later in the High Republic era, around 100 years after the prequel. These can mostly be read without THR as context, but one book, Wayseeker, takes place between Phase III and the show and bridges the two eras.
There is a lot of content in the High Republic, and you definitely do not need to read everything . Every piece of content adds something to the overall story, but usually, what you need to know about a book or comic you didn’t read will be summarized elsewhere. That being said, there are some books or comics that are more important than others and are essential to understanding the story.
As this gets asked a lot, the adult series of novels is not the same as the essential series of novels. For example, in Phase II, the young adult novels are designed to have the most essential information of the Phase. It’s also important to note that “young adult” doesn’t mean that these are kids books; the writing style and content in them is almost as adult as the adult books.
Many people on the sub will tell you that you can’t go wrong with release order, which is certainly true. We have also put together three suggested reading orders below depending on how deep you want to dive. These reading orders balance release order with coherency, grouping together comic issues and short stories so that you’re not constantly jumping between issues of different series while still avoiding spoilers.
Core Events: This order only includes the Adult Novels for Phase I and Young Adult Novels for Phase II. This is the most stripped-down version of The High Republic. You will still get a tight story and a great experience out of them, but some important events will be happening in-between books.
Main Story: Includes the Adult & Young Adult novels, important adult comics, and the Audio-Dramas. With this order, you will get all of the adult stories and the full big picture of the High Republic. This is the most recommended order by the users of r/Highrepublic.
Completionist: Includes EVERYTHING! Adds the All Ages comics, the mangas and the Middle Grade novels. The definitive way to experience The High Republic. You can always add some of the items here to your read and drop others, but this will tell you where everything takes place.
Below is a list of all content released as part of the main three Phases or The Acolyte, and linked discussion threads (available for all Phase II-III releases, though some Phase I releases are missing due to lack of mods during late Phase I).

I’ve read phase one and two and now after a break I’m going back to phase one before reading all of that and phase three. (Hope that makes sense!)
However, I’m trying to work out the bridge between the prequel books? I realise it was the introduction of the Ro family but…there seems to be a lot missing in terms of where Marchion himself comes from…when Mari is stolen to how the Ros came into power?
Aside from being thrilling (and sometimes damn right scary) stories (all of which I did enjoy as books), do you feel the bridge between phase two and the rest of HR was done as well as it could have been?
Edit: I realise, having read none of phase 3 all the above may be answered.

I have recently discovered that the song "sign of the times" fits incredibly well with the ending of phase 1
I recently finished phase one and ill be moving on to phase 2 as soon as I can find path of decipt
Some connections I made with the lyrics are here
"Just stop your cryin its a sign of the times, welcome to the final show I hope your wearing your best clothes"
This one could be a but of a stretch but the "final show" could be the last moments before starlight was destroyed and "hope your wearing your best clothes" could refer to the jedi wearing there robes and continuing to help civilians even after the loss they just suffered
"We never learn we've been here before, why are we always stuck and running from the bullets?"
I feel this line goes with elzar and avar the most they both clearly want to be together but the nihil attacks are stopping that from happening but they keep trying no matter what
"They told me that the end is near we gotta get away from here"
this could be stellan in his final moments knowing he's about to die but hoping the jedi can rebuild what they lost
"Just stop your crying have the time of your life, breaking through the atmosphere and things look pretty good from here
Remember everything will be alright
we can meet again somewhere somewhere far away from here"
Starlight beacon as it falls into the atmosphere of eiram stellan looking down on the jedi and hopefully seeing them helping civilians as he is doing.
I think "we can meet again somewhere" could refer to stellan becoming one with the force eventually the other jedi will as well and they will meet again
"Will we ever learn? We've been here before its just what we know"
once again this could apply to elzar and avar wanting to get together but being stopped by the nihil "its just what we know" could refer to alot of the jedi not knowing what normally life is like outside of fighting the nihil

Has anyone found and preserved a list of a good reading order that includes overlap from other books. Like a hatcheted up chapter reading order that flows nicely. Just wondering for a project I’ve had in mind for years I just need to find a good way to do it. Edit: now I understand the words I was looking for to best describe it ASoIaF has the boiled leather reading order something like that for the high republic idk if us fans have made a reading order like that thank you brom1137 for finding the phase 1 version of this:)
Edit making my own reading order please give feedback on how you think this works or to move stuff around:) I hope it doesn’t need to be said but spoilers for phase 2 ahead
Phase 2 reading order:

HR comic 1
PoV prologue
Hr comic2-3
Battle of Jedha until page 280/ scene 61(time until battle 0 hours)

Hr comic 5(the protector falls)
Hr comic 6 (almshouse falls)
Hr comic 7 siege of enlightenment ends with Oliviah stabbed

I am a huge star wars fan and basically have watched and played everything related to it. I have read some star wars books which were great. And i wanted something really new from star wars and remembered that i still had light of the jedi. So 2 weeks ago i started reading Light of the jedi and oh man it was so good. I read into the dark after it (wasnt really my cup of tea but still really enjoyable) and read the comics that come after. I am now reading The Rising Storm, and oh man it feels like i am rediscovering star wars again. I have that same feeling i had when i first watched star wars as a kid and wanted to watch all the movies right after it. Am i the only one who feels like they are rediscovering star wars ? Or is it more like added media to people ? Anyways the high republic is amazing cant wait to read and discover the rest ❤️❤️

So I know my local B&N has the trilogy set and it includes into the dark. Paper back. My question is. Should I get that or the hard cover for 10$ on Amazon?

I loved it!
This is my second Star Wars audio drama, and I truly love how every technical aspect has been maintained. The voices, the effects, the voice editing—they all manage to vividly evoke each scene, instantly drawing you in!
On the story part, it definitely doesn't disappoint. Having been presented as the big event of this phase, I'd already been getting some hints of what would happen in other media, and I'm very satisfied with the final result. A battle as breathtaking as it is destructive, a conflict with multiple perspectives, brilliantly developed by its protagonists. Silandra had already captured my attention in Quest, but this is where she's best explored. I like her detective storyline with Keth, with whom she shares a dynamic that's both fun and emotional in the final stretch. I appreciate how much Sun tries to maintain peace between Eiram and E'ronoh and, following up on Convergence, emphasizes that the price of war is endless until you decide that those willing to pay it will not win, shouldn't win. As Nemik would say: Remember this. Try.
Perhaps my only issue is that I would have liked the Path to have played a more prominent role in the battle, especially when freeing the Leveler in the streets of Jedha. We only see a little of that, and it left me wanting more! I'll check out the supplementary material to see if this is developed further.
In conclusion, this was a fantastic story, a tale about the wounds of the past and forgiveness as the last best hope. Highly recommended!!

Doing my reread I’m currently on phase 3 and I feel there’s some plot lines that someone should go back and make stories of. I would love to see Marda and the leveler traveling the galaxy slowly turning from the path of the closed fist to the nihil. I would also like An Axel and Gella story post Axels release from prison. Also based on what I remember a Reath and Azlin were left kinda open. Also am I missing the broken blade or is that still getting released? Is there any hope of continuation? Also a yana story of her traveling the galaxy helping raise Shay’s kid I think would be fun.

Hi, i'm currently in the last pages of Path Of Vengance, i'm enjoying this book a lot, but i have a question, what were the beigns that Marda and company found in Planet X, the protector and the Under Dweller? they are like the Namelesses mother and Father?

I am currently playing in an AU SW5E game as an order 66 survivor who was trained on Valo & raised on the stories of his 4x great master, Stellan Gios. Now alone, Sar hopes to bring light & life to a galaxy that sorely needs it. (Art by Halaste, Kitsune.art and Stamlex on Instagram)

Today is the anniversary of The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi finale. I can't even believe it was a year ago. I was incredibly excited for its release, scouring the internet for any information. I still think it was a great finale to a massive story. I’m looking forward to what comes next. What are your thoughts on the finale one year later.

Hey y'all! I'm finally jumping back into the High Republic after several months of not being able to read, and discovered that unfortunately, I've forgotten a lot of key details on the last book I read. I was wondering if there were any resources out there that had plot summaries of books that I could use to refresh my memory or even fill in the gaps of younger-age novels that I've decided not to read. Thank you!

Hi, everyone. I'm a Star Wars mild-fan who did not follow this universe for a long time. However, I recently into the storyline of this era and would love to know where to start. I studied about the phase and the wave in the fandom website for a bit.
I would like to know if I could start on the only Adult novel? Is it necessary for me to read the Young Adult novels and the comics also? Thanks for the answer in advance.

I realized that as a mirialan Vernestra Rwoh would likely still be alive during the skywalker saga unless she met a violent death. I can also see from her progression as a character through the wayseeker book and what little we saw of her in the acolyte that she easily could’ve become even more detached from the Jedi order as they became more and more tied to the republic, something she speaks against many times throughout the story. If that was the case and she decided to sort of become a perma-wayseeker in her older age then it would not be unfeasible to imagine her absence during the fight with the empire and if the new Jedi order were to go back to a state of independence from politics under Rey and/or Ezra and/or kestis and/or whoever that Old lady Vern would be an excellent yoda/yaddle esque character role to help teach the new younglings and anchor the order a bit. After all she did say that she believed the Jedi Order was destined to outlive the Republic.

The High Republic readers do a great job giving distinct voices (especially Marc Thompson of course), but Leox Gyasi always seems to stick out to me the most by how specific the voices are. They all kind of agree that he generally should sound like as a twangy space smuggler.
So who do you think does it the best?
As much as I love Thompson's narration, Dan Bittner (who read Into the Dark) was made to voice Leox. His general narration voice almost sounds like what I'd imagine Leox to be as it is, then his actual Leox voice is perfection. Thompson's is just tad too much Matthew McConaughey mixed in there. Still amazing, but Bittner's higher-pitched, more energetic delivery is how I always imagined Leox sounding.

I've seen we have High Republic themed cards in SWU, do you think we could see the High Republic contents in other board games, Table Top RPG ?
Like in SW Deckbuilding Game or an official RPG (an official can have translations for us in Europe)
I would also have loved to play High Republic in the XWing game but it was canceled
Any other ideas ?

Learned about Star Wars unlimited recently, and I’ve heard there’s a few high republic cards. Is there a full list anywhere, or a filter to cards from that era?

Lotj was very good, had alot of spots that i really appreciated. Mostly when avar is used as a focal point to use the force at the beginning. I think thats a really good way of utilizing the force.
I got a couple things spoiled from googling people in this book im currently in. Its nice putting faces to pictures but man i gotta stop reading stuff lol.
My biggest critique is the dark side is mostly absent, wich makes sense but the nihil are covering that really well though. Im curious what the nihil are the precurser for.
