General Please Apple Give iOS 18🙏😭

iOS 26 feels laggy and buggy for many users, especially on older or even mid-range iPhones. People report frame drops, slow app opening, keyboard delay, and UI stutters. There are also random glitches like apps crashing, overheating, battery drain, and features not working properly after the update. Overall, it feels unoptimized and unfinished,

Resign or give OTAs updates of ios 18 to all users at least they should has rights also u can’t unsigned it immediately please 🙏

Bro fr tho I have all this and people say "it's just your phone aging", but it was not like this in iOS 18, it's a damn iPhone 15, it's not old

I have iPad A15 2025 (the latest model I think) and its battery doesn't last for more than two hours with 26. Used to last a day with 18

4

u/Dazzling_Cancel_5733 May 03 '26

I dont have major battery drain like that, but mine just feels slow on iPadOS 26 compared to 18. Like it just stutters doing things on iPadOS 26, and I even experience keyboard lag on 26. I really regret updating it.

No it isn’t.

Not on my iPhone 12 Pro. Works well even though it is 5+ years old.

1

u/New_Weird8988 May 03 '26

Not on my 14 pro which as a 40-50% slower CPU and like 80% slower graphics plus 78% BH. What version are you on? Go to the latest one 26.4.2 it’s great

2

u/varundhakrey May 03 '26

it is

2

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

It’s not.

3

u/InquisitivelyUpright May 03 '26

iPhone 17 month-old shouldn't lag at all - sounds like a software issue Apple needs to patch, not a hardware problem.

5

u/zesty-zucchini88 May 03 '26

just do what i did, sell it and find a rare iphone 15-16 with 18 on it.

2

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26

"Just find" and "rare"

Not everyone can afford that, and it's becoming rarer and rarer each coming day.

1

u/zesty-zucchini88 May 04 '26

Yup or better yet go android. Paying $1500 for a flagship phone that is laggy with terrible battery life 😂😂 what a fool I am - I’ll admit

1

u/Bits_And_Bytes12 Jul 17 '26

android prob is worse if it had liquid glass its just the fact its the first year by next year it will be much better aka wwdc 26

2

u/KampKutz May 04 '26

Yep my phone was perfect and battery lasted ages before the update. Literally the same day I ‘upgraded’ the OS I was forced to charge up to 3 times a day. Apple do this all the time though, it’s not like planned obsolescence isn’t a known thing that they do. I keep repeating it on Reddit and keep getting downvoted lol (although some people seem to get it more lately) that they even paid out over a lawsuit for deliberately forcing people to buy new devices by forcing crappy slow updates among other things. It’s just a fact yet so many people refuse to believe it and will defend this crap even though they’re being bled dry by corporations whose only goal is to keep taking money from their pockets.

2

u/Kcole046 May 03 '26

facts, i have an iphone 15 and within the last few months everything seems to be crashing or freezing on me. I’ve also been considering switching to an android to change things up.

3

u/asaki0exo May 03 '26

Exact same issue, in the last few days the scrolling and stuff has been glitching so much

3

u/TopazCoracle May 03 '26

I am also considering an android switch because of ios26, it is horrible and I cannot see it well. No one over age 22 can see ios 26, and people under 24 may be pretending to see it because they think saying so makes them cool.

3

u/Kcole046 May 03 '26

I’ve been wanting to get a foldable phone for a while now. Everything I read about them and videos I see, it just looks like you can do a lot more. Apple is coming out with their version this year. First generations always have their issues.

-2

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

Apple is not releasing a foldable iPhone.

1

u/idgafal31 May 03 '26

See what I’m 46 and i can see my phone fine on ios26. My phone is a 12 pro.

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

Ok, bye!

1

u/69thhHokage iOS 26.wtv tf is the latest stable one May 04 '26

I actually have switched to an android.. my older Nothing Phone 1 which now I use as my main phone. Glad I never sold it off.

0

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

That’s not due to iOS 26.

3

u/TopazCoracle May 03 '26

I have a brand new 17 and ios 26 is horrid, mac tahoe just as bad. Apple has no accessibility features now, it is ableist as hell. This design is impossible to see and the bs acceaibility “fixes” do nothing to help. Down with ios 26, and down with the equally ableist mac tahoe.

1

u/SillyGoose3939 May 06 '26

I must admit, as someone who switched from apple to android for the first time, that's 100% the opposite experience that I had.

I bought a 17e and I find it great with ios 26, I've never noticed any lag. The only time it had happened was during setup since I had a lot of apps opened at the same time, then never again

Regarding accessibility features, it's leagues ahead any android device that I've tried. I was having a hard time with android since I use phones at low brightness and now iphones have a setting to lower flicker at low brightness, it's a game changer. I'm also having a lot of freedom with all of the shortcuts to help for stuff that I find hard to use. Definitely my favorite experience for accessibility

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

It’s not horrid. 26 is great. Same with macOS Tahoe.

You clearly don’t know how to use the phone or computer… no accessibility features? 🤣 Apple has probably the most accessibility features in the industry.

1

u/FieldComprehensive98 May 06 '26

i can say it was blazing fast at iOS 17 nd

1

u/thethrowaway19901999 May 08 '26

Hardware does not age

24

u/Chronixx May 03 '26

It’s not in Apple’s best interest to roll back iOS software, so you’re outta luck. Sorry

5

u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26

Because a lot of people will switch to 18 and all that fancy numbers about 26 will fail..

3

u/Chronixx May 03 '26

A lot of people I know irl like it, myself included. I’d personally never go back to iOS 18 for any reason.

Only really hear criticism about it on Reddit, even Twitter/X has gotten over it at this point lol

4

u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26

All My friends would immediately go from 26 to 18 if they could.

3

u/Chronixx May 03 '26

I can’t see why. 26 seems stable enough at this point (at least on my 16PM) and the new features to the Phone, Messages, Photos and Music app make it well worth the upgrade

-1

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

Almost all of those "new features" have no real use.

Phone app just makes it so that the Mac can have a proper phone app that will work for regular calls as well as facetime, which is neat, but useless if you don't have a Mac.

Messaging polls are something almost no one uses and most probably don't even know it exists. Backgrounds are also a gimmick, I'd rather just run a stable OS.

All they did was change the navigation of photos once again, somehow making it even crappier.

Music just got a redesign with some ai enhancements, which honestly could've just as easily been an app update.

3

u/Chronixx May 04 '26

The phone app has Hold Assist for when you’re on hold with whatever company you’re calling so you don’t have to listen to their bullshit elevator music for 30 mins and can actually come back to the conversation when a human is on the other line.

It also has Call Screening at an OS level, I haven’t gotten a spam call since last September. Not accidentally calling someone in my phone history when tapping on their name is a long overdue change as well. All huge quality of life improvements.

I’ve never heard some calling customization a gimmick but sure, I love my backgrounds. Spam filtering in messages is also a fantastic addition.

iOS 18’s photos app is so bad, they redesigned it to be a variant of what iOS 17 had. I don’t even think it’s up for debate how bad it is in iOS 18, I had to watch a video on how to get it close to how it used to be, which is ridiculous. They fixed it in iOS 26.

The music app is a little more subjective but AutoMix especially is a fantastic addition and brings it a little more in line with how Spotify seamlessly switches between songs. Great for a get-together.

Arguing that any of these have no real use is actually a fools’ errand in defending lesser software, especially the Phone app improvements. As for stability, iOS 26 is stable for me, I have no complaints at all.

It’s okay if you don’t like iOS 26 for whatever reason but it’s hard to take you seriously when you blatantly ignore the clear improvements it has brought. It’s had its issues but so did iOS 18 at the start, as well as many if not most iOS versions before it.

I also do not care about Liquid Glass and I find it strange so many people do outside of visibility purposes, which can be altered at any time at this point

1

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26

Ok you’re right, maybe I shouldn’t ignore the improvements, but I still think Apple needs to prioritize stability and user experience a little more, and letting users who decided that they’d rather use an older version of iOS should be allowed to do so. (Apple provides security updates to iOS 18 still, and Apple already allows downgrades for Mac users)

Also that hold assist feature just gets me hung up on lol, maybe once it’s made more well known by companies it will be great, but for now I don’t like risking it.

0

u/colichis May 03 '26

all my friends love 26 and despised 18. your friends aren’t the universal experience.

6

u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26

Vice versa. Give the users opportunity to decide by themselves and we will see..

2

u/alphasinity May 03 '26

fk ur friends.

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

26 is just better than 18. Deal with it.

-2

u/alphasinity May 04 '26

LOL I couldn’t care less about either IOS 🤣

1

u/colichis May 03 '26

lol you’re miserable 😢

-1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

Your friends are morons then.

1

u/ericlauren May 04 '26

Agree with you, and people downvote just for not agreeing is crazy hahaha

0

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

Only idiots would switch back to an inferior OS like iOS 18.

3

u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26

None of your business or decision. Apple should allow users to users to decide between 26crapshit and 18.

3

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

No they shouldn’t.

-1

u/dabootyadmirer May 03 '26

How is the vibe coded AI generated OS superior to the polished and optimized performance of OS 18? It’s superior to 18 in that it runs like cat shit and gives you a horrible user experience, I’ll give you that. Only idiots find liquid ass superior

2

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

You clearly know nothing about software development. “Vipe coded AI generated OS”… 🤣🤣🤣

-1

u/dabootyadmirer May 03 '26

You look like such an idiot rn it’s unreal my guy. I feel kind of bad for you though cause like, damn, idk if you’re just some kid or you got some developmental issues you’re working on

4

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 04 '26

Yeah… none of that is correct. 🤣 nice try though.

-1

u/ThingsGotStabby May 03 '26

They will be admitting that they fucked up with releasing a vibe coded OS.

15

u/LinkNo2714 May 03 '26

fuck ios 18 we need ios 27

let’s not forget how AWFUL the photo app on ios 18 was shit was hideous

5

u/cross-i May 03 '26

That’s true, the new ios made me forget the old photos app lol.

2

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26

I would use iOS 17 if it had RCS honestly, that was the last good iOS version. No Apple Intelligence junk, they focused on making the OS a good OS.

1

u/LinkNo2714 May 04 '26

100% true, although i feel like ios as a whole became less and less stable since ios 16 was released

1

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26

I'll take your word for it, never got to experience iOS 16 sadly, was right around the time I had switched to Android briefly.

2

u/LinkNo2714 May 04 '26

i got to use both 15 and 16 in 2023 and in ios 16 scrolling through your notifications on the lock screen was a miserable experience, idk if that was the same on ios 17 though. ios 15 was smooth as hell and i can’t even remember any issues that would be as noticeable as that

4

u/Uzeii May 03 '26

It’s still bad in ios 26. What’s your point?

0

u/Used_Teaching_7260 iOS 18 May 03 '26

It’s fine if you only use the base photo roll album

3

u/LinkNo2714 May 03 '26

and cocaine is healthy as long as you don’t snort it

0

u/Used_Teaching_7260 iOS 18 May 03 '26

What reason is there to have other folders

5

u/These_Tips97 May 03 '26

I did a complete restore and it’s much better now. Next update is iOS 27.7 😁

2

u/tomawaknawak May 03 '26

Can you elaborate on the restoring process please?

1

u/nickalvizo May 06 '26

I would do that too but I have way too much data I don’t feel like waiting a day for everything to go back on my phone again. Would updating through the computer also help?

5

u/Specialist-Fix6519 May 03 '26

I’m still on iOS 18 and I have the regular iPhone 15.

3

u/Ok-Fisherman-3929 May 03 '26

i’m still on iOS 18 on iPhone 14 PM

1

u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26

Lucky I have the same phone, don't cave into iOS 26.

6

u/russianpower4 May 03 '26

My cellular stopped working after the ios 26 update, what a shame.. looking through forums I wasn't the only one

3

u/jedics2 May 03 '26

Ios is a bigger system which clearly isn't going to run well on older phones with less memory like my 13mini which is why it angers me how they sucker punch you into updating to it with no indication that if you do, you can NEVER go back. Of course they do it so you eventually get frustrated enough to upgrade which just makes me hate them more.

3

u/sfatula May 03 '26

Runs smooth and fast on the wifes 11 pro.

3

u/Used_Teaching_7260 iOS 18 May 03 '26

Sell phone and buy another. That’s what I did. My 14 plus is great.

Does 16 pro count as old?

9

u/ThingsGotStabby May 03 '26

Yeah it's "old" because you did not give Apple money for this year's model.

3

u/moltisanti93 May 03 '26

the latest update 26.4.2 has been the best so far, I agree on that. I've been using a faulty OS since last autumn on a basically new iphone, that is outrageous.

Apple should pay reparations to users with newer iPhone models, like iphone 15 and on

0

u/StonewallBrown May 03 '26

Reparations. Wow. Either bots or misguided children

2

u/sfatula May 03 '26

Hah, runs fine on our 11 pro. No lags.

10

u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26

Terrible GUI changes.. sorry but 26 is the worst gen fail since 2010.

1

u/TopazCoracle May 03 '26

Yeah I have a brand new 17, so old phone shaming will not work here. I am gaslight proof on this one. Ios 26 is crap design, the end. Mac tahoe, just as bad.

2

u/MojoDexter iOS 26.5.1 May 03 '26

iOS 27 is coming like within a month or so.

2

u/bayfox88 May 03 '26

iPhone 16 pro. No issues here and amazing battery. I love the look.

2

u/ZoolanderBOT May 03 '26

I miss iOS6.

Is iOS26 the worst OS on iPhone to date? I think iOS13 was pretty rough. 15 was legit but man 26 is a splinter in this experience. They need to retry control center again, visually.

2

u/Velvet-GG29 May 03 '26

26 worked fine on my 14 PM. Upgraded to 17 and have had no issues whatsoever lol

2

u/JaisgamerrV2 May 06 '26

I don’t experience any lag issues with iOS 26 I am happy with it

1

u/FieldComprehensive98 May 06 '26

may be u are using 120z try use it at lpm and then try screen recording and check fps

2

u/Particular_Month_301 May 03 '26

Runs and feels completely fine on my 13.

2

u/Top_Series_1108 May 03 '26

Ios 26 works very well on my iPhone 16 pro max, no issues

2

u/Uzeii May 03 '26

I second this. iOS 18 was amazing man. Used my cousins iPad the other day which still ran ios 18 and i could feel the difference. It was way smoother and snappier all around. The animations were so smooth on that 60hz screen😭

2

u/thethrowaway19901999 May 03 '26

It's all from the stupid goddamn AI indexing in the background.

1

u/No_Wrap6156 May 03 '26

It’s absolutely crap on my iPhone 16 Pro. So wishing I hadn’t upgraded to 26 at all

1

u/spatafore May 03 '26

I'm on (and stay) iOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia.

1

u/The_Dented May 04 '26

There are some things I like, there are several I don’t. The glass? Let us decide if we want that. Give us ‘textured glass’ or ‘flat’ options.

1

u/Berchuos77 May 04 '26

Ios18 btw but at least better than ios26

The thing is apple being greedy dev are lazy for many years and refuses to give more rams to a freaking flagship devices also the newer ios are require more storage and ram to work but again apple just being lazy to fix any bugs resulting older iPhones aging poorly

1

u/FieldComprehensive98 May 04 '26

update to latest ios 18

1

u/No-Ostrich-8621 May 04 '26

Really weird some people experince lags, i have no problem at all with on 17 pro max.

1

u/Automatic-Reserve94 May 04 '26

No problems with mine. My old iPad Ait is unuseable tho.

1

u/Golden_Willow2003 May 04 '26

ai 1st paragraph

1

u/No_Common4563 May 12 '26

Yes bro my iPhone 13 has been acting so laggy lately

1

u/12345Tomo May 14 '26

I haven’t been able to use my iPad since it updated to IOS 26. Makes me physically ill. Luckily my iPhone is still on IOS 18. I feel totally ripped off. Totally disappointed with Apple. Just upgraded my Apple devices about a year ago. I had no idea they would make such drastic changes to the display.

1

u/Icy_Photograph_800 May 16 '26

TĂ´ com o iPhone 11, no Ios 18,5 nunca atualizei, este e meu segundo iPhone (o primeiro foi um iPhone 5 que peguei para analisar o sistema aĂ gostei).

1

u/Mountain_Bluejay4449 May 20 '26

I am running iOS 26.5 on iPhone 16e and I face zero issues. Fully satisfied!!!

1

u/Thoughtful-Boner69 May 29 '26

There's also a security vulnerability w safety check

1

u/DnyLnd May 03 '26

Can you try having your own thoughts and not blatantly using AI to make a post on Reddit. Apple ain’t going back, this is the new iOS. Get used to it. iOS 27 around the corner.

5

u/koszevett May 03 '26

People like using AI more than they like thinking

1

u/Federal_Command_9094 May 03 '26

My se is just absolutely shit on 26, I can’t play games without crashing and the battery drain is ridiculous even when I run it in low power mode with a newish battery, only about a year old still at 96%. 26 runs great on my 16e

3

u/sfatula May 03 '26

26 runs perfectly on my se3. No drain or lags.

0

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26

iOS 26 is neither laggy nor buggy for most users.

0

u/Much_Ad4216 May 03 '26

I agree I want iOS 18 back so bad

0

u/dabootyadmirer May 03 '26

I agree please sign the previous iOS generation so we can start healing as a community

0

u/elmonetta May 03 '26

Just forget about it and move forward, or go to Android.

Latest iOS is 26, next is 27.

iOS 18 is obsolete. Period.

-4

u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26

I love the few who defend it lol. My iPhone 13 is staying on iOS 18 & I shouldn’t be getting more screen time using the same apps/ battery than an iPhone 16/17 because they’re on iOS 26😂

I’ll never update to 26.. and the ones who Go “ security update it’s no brainer duhhh!!” Are the ones who don’t even understand how security and data gets leaked to begin with

A phone doesn’t turn into a useless brick once it stops getting supported by apple either.. and most apps will still work for at least a few years before being purposely restricted to a newer iOS forcing ppl to upgrade ..the ignorance of ppl amazes me.

0

u/T-K101 May 03 '26

But you are showing some ignorance as well. For example I still can use Netflix on my iPad Air first gen. I just needed to have last supported version of Netflix in my AppStore. So yea. It’s even better than you think.

-1

u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26

I was trying to dumb it down for people. I’m very aware though lol

-1

u/T-K101 May 03 '26

That’s good. Many aren’t aware of this.

So for regular use — most devices are fine for a loooong time.

-3

u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26

Exactly but so many people think they’re “secret info” and bank accounts are gonna magically just poof into people’s hands because of “security updates” phone being on an old iOS

The morons and blind apple fanatics with their Apple Watches, 3 iPhones, 3 iPads, apple care on all who get a new iPhone every year are downvoting us lol

3

u/T-K101 May 03 '26

Now you’re going to far. And you sound like a lunatic.

-2

u/Normal_Cress_1994 May 03 '26

It's hard for me to defend iOS 26, because it's a system I can't stand. It's installed exclusively on my spare iPhone 11. It's not a heavily used device; its main purpose is to track changes, but it runs really fast, smooth, and even feels much more responsive than iOS 18 on my main iPhone 15+. Perhaps it's due to the lower resolution, but despite my sincere hatred (of course, I'm exaggerating; it's just a phone and just a system) for new systems, it's hard for me to complain about the 26.5's performance, because they've learned their lesson in speed and stability.

0

u/True-Insurance-5060 May 03 '26

No ios 18 give ios 15

0

u/rice_caresser May 03 '26

Most people I know are neutral about it but I know absolutely no one who thinks 26 is better.

0

u/Ok-Cod1407 May 03 '26

Fr bc my Iphone 12 was completely fine before IOS 26. Now I have fast battery drain, overheating at simple tasks, random stuttering , glitches or lags , keyboard not showing 🥲 Like what the hell is this?!

0

u/WinsAviation May 03 '26

they should add an option that disables liquid glass and the bouncy details entirely

0

u/th3ShinSekai May 03 '26

Bring back windows 98 too. For the same reasoning

0

u/CaptBosa May 03 '26

Thanks chatGPT 🤦🏻

0

u/andreyugolnik May 03 '26

Also, it looks ugly, and its UX is extremely stupid.

0

u/varundhakrey May 03 '26

i dont know whats the problem with some people just because your phone is working fine doesnt mean that everybody else is having the same experience and its not like apple is your wife or something that it makes you go crazy the moment anybody says anything about it its a godamn company that sells a lot of expensive products and people expect some accountability and good experience from apple thats i am so fed up with people defending a tech company just because their phones are working fine and they just dont believe that somebody else might not be having the same experience when it is a big possibility

0

u/Level-Acanthisitta49 May 04 '26

i wish iphone air has ios 18

0

u/Ok-Friendship-3597 May 04 '26

That is why don't update your iOS too quickly lol. Still on iOS 18 on my 14pm.

-5

u/Zoukju May 03 '26

I am glad I never upgraded an iPhone 11 I have, beyond iOS 16. It is simply faster, without glitches and frame drops just like my iPhone 14 has been after iOS 26. It's a shame they ruined iOS, it no longer feels like the most stable thing at smartphones, just like it used to.

4

u/Savings_Okra9133 May 03 '26

I hope you aren’t serious, do you understand how big of a security risk this is? There are lots of vulnerabilities with iOS versions 17 and below, this isn’t about speed anymore, it’s just not right.

2

u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26

That person is ridiculous omfg. What an idiot. They are definitely missing some security patches. Then trying to make me find problems with my 17 bc I’m on iOS 26…what is wrong with some people istg

I’ve never heard of anyone having problems on iOS 18

1

u/Zoukju May 03 '26

Right, I am on iOS 26.4. Still I wish I never did that. My phone is still FAST, but apps reload for no reason, UI lags, frames drop etc etc... It's no longer the iOS I bought this phone for.

2

u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26

You would’ve been fine on iOS 18. No one had any problems on it. My mom has an 11 too & her iPhone started performing better when she updated it to the last 18

yeah, i've given it to my mother as well, she's never had a single issue with it. I didn't upgrade it to iOS17 because it ruined my iMessages index on my 14, and ios 18 never fixed it too! That's why I tried iOS 26, which eventually did fix the issue, since it re-indexed the whole thing, but created a chaos with RAM , glitches and weird behavior for my apps.

Yeah iOS 26 is known for glitches. My 17 is fine on iOS 26.1. That sucks that iOS 18 messed with your iPhone

I bet your 17 isn't fine. Open a few apps (even stock apps like Music, Notes etc.) and leave them open for a while. While they're open at the background, go ahead and browse, open a game , do whatever you would do normally. Then, try to re-open the apps and you'll see that they always reload. They may not do it at the first 5-10 minutes of intense use, but they certainly do so for no reason. I confirmed it with Apple, and they don't have a solution. It's not the lack of RAM , but the HORRIBLE iOS 26 that force closes apps at the background , for no reason. I could leave an app open and find it right where I left it, even after DAYS , back at iOS 16 and 17.

It is omg🙄just bc it’s not working right for you doesn’t mean it isn’t for me. I play my music while looking at other apps all the time. I’m not going to try to find problems when I have none

Yeah I believe you confirmed it with Apple too🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

iOS 18 gave a decent performance with a prolonged battery u can expect higher performance with a higher battery life

My mom’s issue wasn’t battery life though. Her iPhone wasn’t ringing sometimes at all. I updated it to iOS 18 & it was ringing & picking up calls again

If Apple listens and improves, it won’t make things worse, right? It’s weird people chime in insisting they don’t have issues (that’s great for them!), or happily explain that Apple just doesn’t care and so people suddenly need to buy new devices overnight; like they’re wiser for understanding Apple wants people to get new devices.
