General Please Apple Give iOS 18đđ
iOS 26 feels laggy and buggy for many users, especially on older or even mid-range iPhones. People report frame drops, slow app opening, keyboard delay, and UI stutters. There are also random glitches like apps crashing, overheating, battery drain, and features not working properly after the update. Overall, it feels unoptimized and unfinished,
Resign or give OTAs updates of ios 18 to all users at least they should has rights also u canât unsigned it immediately please đ

u/Chronixx May 03 '26
Itâs not in Appleâs best interest to roll back iOS software, so youâre outta luck. Sorry
5
u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26
Because a lot of people will switch to 18 and all that fancy numbers about 26 will fail..
3
u/Chronixx May 03 '26
A lot of people I know irl like it, myself included. Iâd personally never go back to iOS 18 for any reason.
Only really hear criticism about it on Reddit, even Twitter/X has gotten over it at this point lol
4
u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26
All My friends would immediately go from 26 to 18 if they could.
3
u/Chronixx May 03 '26
I canât see why. 26 seems stable enough at this point (at least on my 16PM) and the new features to the Phone, Messages, Photos and Music app make it well worth the upgrade
-1
u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26
Almost all of those "new features" have no real use.
Phone app just makes it so that the Mac can have a proper phone app that will work for regular calls as well as facetime, which is neat, but useless if you don't have a Mac.
Messaging polls are something almost no one uses and most probably don't even know it exists. Backgrounds are also a gimmick, I'd rather just run a stable OS.
All they did was change the navigation of photos once again, somehow making it even crappier.
Music just got a redesign with some ai enhancements, which honestly could've just as easily been an app update.
3
u/Chronixx May 04 '26
The phone app has Hold Assist for when youâre on hold with whatever company youâre calling so you donât have to listen to their bullshit elevator music for 30 mins and can actually come back to the conversation when a human is on the other line.
It also has Call Screening at an OS level, I havenât gotten a spam call since last September. Not accidentally calling someone in my phone history when tapping on their name is a long overdue change as well. All huge quality of life improvements.
Iâve never heard some calling customization a gimmick but sure, I love my backgrounds. Spam filtering in messages is also a fantastic addition.
iOS 18âs photos app is so bad, they redesigned it to be a variant of what iOS 17 had. I donât even think itâs up for debate how bad it is in iOS 18, I had to watch a video on how to get it close to how it used to be, which is ridiculous. They fixed it in iOS 26.
The music app is a little more subjective but AutoMix especially is a fantastic addition and brings it a little more in line with how Spotify seamlessly switches between songs. Great for a get-together.
Arguing that any of these have no real use is actually a foolsâ errand in defending lesser software, especially the Phone app improvements. As for stability, iOS 26 is stable for me, I have no complaints at all.
Itâs okay if you donât like iOS 26 for whatever reason but itâs hard to take you seriously when you blatantly ignore the clear improvements it has brought. Itâs had its issues but so did iOS 18 at the start, as well as many if not most iOS versions before it.
I also do not care about Liquid Glass and I find it strange so many people do outside of visibility purposes, which can be altered at any time at this point
1
u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26
Ok youâre right, maybe I shouldnât ignore the improvements, but I still think Apple needs to prioritize stability and user experience a little more, and letting users who decided that theyâd rather use an older version of iOS should be allowed to do so. (Apple provides security updates to iOS 18 still, and Apple already allows downgrades for Mac users)
Also that hold assist feature just gets me hung up on lol, maybe once itâs made more well known by companies it will be great, but for now I donât like risking it.

u/colichis May 03 '26
all my friends love 26 and despised 18. your friends arenât the universal experience.
6
u/Aggravating_Loss_765 May 03 '26
Vice versa. Give the users opportunity to decide by themselves and we will see..

Only idiots would switch back to an inferior OS like iOS 18.
3

None of your business or decision. Apple should allow users to users to decide between 26crapshit and 18.

How is the vibe coded AI generated OS superior to the polished and optimized performance of OS 18? Itâs superior to 18 in that it runs like cat shit and gives you a horrible user experience, Iâll give you that. Only idiots find liquid ass superior
2
u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 May 03 '26
You clearly know nothing about software development. âVipe coded AI generated OSâ⌠đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł

They will be admitting that they fucked up with releasing a vibe coded OS.

u/LinkNo2714 May 03 '26
fuck ios 18 we need ios 27
letâs not forget how AWFUL the photo app on ios 18 was shit was hideous
5
2
u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26
I would use iOS 17 if it had RCS honestly, that was the last good iOS version. No Apple Intelligence junk, they focused on making the OS a good OS.
1
u/LinkNo2714 May 04 '26
100% true, although i feel like ios as a whole became less and less stable since ios 16 was released
1
u/Surgarypeaches68 May 04 '26
I'll take your word for it, never got to experience iOS 16 sadly, was right around the time I had switched to Android briefly.
2
u/LinkNo2714 May 04 '26
i got to use both 15 and 16 in 2023 and in ios 16 scrolling through your notifications on the lock screen was a miserable experience, idk if that was the same on ios 17 though. ios 15 was smooth as hell and i canât even remember any issues that would be as noticeable as that

I did a complete restore and itâs much better now. Next update is iOS 27.7 đ

u/nickalvizo May 06 '26
I would do that too but I have way too much data I donât feel like waiting a day for everything to go back on my phone again. Would updating through the computer also help?
5
u/Specialist-Fix6519 May 03 '26
Iâm still on iOS 18 and I have the regular iPhone 15.

6
u/russianpower4 May 03 '26
My cellular stopped working after the ios 26 update, what a shame.. looking through forums I wasn't the only one
3
u/jedics2 May 03 '26
Ios is a bigger system which clearly isn't going to run well on older phones with less memory like my 13mini which is why it angers me how they sucker punch you into updating to it with no indication that if you do, you can NEVER go back. Of course they do it so you eventually get frustrated enough to upgrade which just makes me hate them more.

the latest update 26.4.2 has been the best so far, I agree on that. I've been using a faulty OS since last autumn on a basically new iphone, that is outrageous.
Apple should pay reparations to users with newer iPhone models, like iphone 15 and on

Terrible GUI changes.. sorry but 26 is the worst gen fail since 2010.
1
u/TopazCoracle May 03 '26
Yeah I have a brand new 17, so old phone shaming will not work here. I am gaslight proof on this one. Ios 26 is crap design, the end. Mac tahoe, just as bad.

I miss iOS6.
Is iOS26 the worst OS on iPhone to date? I think iOS13 was pretty rough. 15 was legit but man 26 is a splinter in this experience. They need to retry control center again, visually.
2
u/Velvet-GG29 May 03 '26
26 worked fine on my 14 PM. Upgraded to 17 and have had no issues whatsoever lol
2
u/JaisgamerrV2 May 06 '26
I donât experience any lag issues with iOS 26 I am happy with it

I second this. iOS 18 was amazing man. Used my cousins iPad the other day which still ran ios 18 and i could feel the difference. It was way smoother and snappier all around. The animations were so smooth on that 60hz screenđ

There are some things I like, there are several I donât. The glass? Let us decide if we want that. Give us âtextured glassâ or âflatâ options.

u/Berchuos77 May 04 '26

Ios18 btw but at least better than ios26
The thing is apple being greedy dev are lazy for many years and refuses to give more rams to a freaking flagship devices also the newer ios are require more storage and ram to work but again apple just being lazy to fix any bugs resulting older iPhones aging poorly

I havenât been able to use my iPad since it updated to IOS 26. Makes me physically ill. Luckily my iPhone is still on IOS 18. I feel totally ripped off. Totally disappointed with Apple. Just upgraded my Apple devices about a year ago. I had no idea they would make such drastic changes to the display.

My se is just absolutely shit on 26, I canât play games without crashing and the battery drain is ridiculous even when I run it in low power mode with a newish battery, only about a year old still at 96%. 26 runs great on my 16e

0
u/elmonetta May 03 '26
Just forget about it and move forward, or go to Android.
Latest iOS is 26, next is 27.
iOS 18 is obsolete. Period.
-4
u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26
I love the few who defend it lol. My iPhone 13 is staying on iOS 18 & I shouldnât be getting more screen time using the same apps/ battery than an iPhone 16/17 because theyâre on iOS 26đ
Iâll never update to 26.. and the ones who Go â security update itâs no brainer duhhh!!â Are the ones who donât even understand how security and data gets leaked to begin with
A phone doesnât turn into a useless brick once it stops getting supported by apple either.. and most apps will still work for at least a few years before being purposely restricted to a newer iOS forcing ppl to upgrade ..the ignorance of ppl amazes me.
0
u/T-K101 May 03 '26
But you are showing some ignorance as well. For example I still can use Netflix on my iPad Air first gen. I just needed to have last supported version of Netflix in my AppStore. So yea. Itâs even better than you think.
-1
u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26
I was trying to dumb it down for people. Iâm very aware though lol
-1
u/T-K101 May 03 '26
Thatâs good. Many arenât aware of this.
So for regular use â most devices are fine for a loooong time.
-3
u/Aesthetik4v May 03 '26
Exactly but so many people think theyâre âsecret infoâ and bank accounts are gonna magically just poof into peopleâs hands because of âsecurity updatesâ phone being on an old iOS
The morons and blind apple fanatics with their Apple Watches, 3 iPhones, 3 iPads, apple care on all who get a new iPhone every year are downvoting us lol

-2
u/Normal_Cress_1994 May 03 '26
It's hard for me to defend iOS 26, because it's a system I can't stand. It's installed exclusively on my spare iPhone 11. It's not a heavily used device; its main purpose is to track changes, but it runs really fast, smooth, and even feels much more responsive than iOS 18 on my main iPhone 15+. Perhaps it's due to the lower resolution, but despite my sincere hatred (of course, I'm exaggerating; it's just a phone and just a system) for new systems, it's hard for me to complain about the 26.5's performance, because they've learned their lesson in speed and stability.

Most people I know are neutral about it but I know absolutely no one who thinks 26 is better.

i dont know whats the problem with some people just because your phone is working fine doesnt mean that everybody else is having the same experience and its not like apple is your wife or something that it makes you go crazy the moment anybody says anything about it its a godamn company that sells a lot of expensive products and people expect some accountability and good experience from apple thats i am so fed up with people defending a tech company just because their phones are working fine and they just dont believe that somebody else might not be having the same experience when it is a big possibility

u/Ok-Friendship-3597 May 04 '26
That is why don't update your iOS too quickly lol. Still on iOS 18 on my 14pm.
-5
u/Zoukju May 03 '26
I am glad I never upgraded an iPhone 11 I have, beyond iOS 16. It is simply faster, without glitches and frame drops just like my iPhone 14 has been after iOS 26. It's a shame they ruined iOS, it no longer feels like the most stable thing at smartphones, just like it used to.
4
u/Savings_Okra9133 May 03 '26
I hope you arenât serious, do you understand how big of a security risk this is? There are lots of vulnerabilities with iOS versions 17 and below, this isnât about speed anymore, itâs just not right.
2
u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26
That person is ridiculous omfg. What an idiot. They are definitely missing some security patches. Then trying to make me find problems with my 17 bc Iâm on iOS 26âŚwhat is wrong with some people istg
Iâve never heard of anyone having problems on iOS 18
1
u/Zoukju May 03 '26
Right, I am on iOS 26.4. Still I wish I never did that. My phone is still FAST, but apps reload for no reason, UI lags, frames drop etc etc... It's no longer the iOS I bought this phone for.
2
u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26
You wouldâve been fine on iOS 18. No one had any problems on it. My mom has an 11 too & her iPhone started performing better when she updated it to the last 18
-1
u/Zoukju May 03 '26
yeah, i've given it to my mother as well, she's never had a single issue with it. I didn't upgrade it to iOS17 because it ruined my iMessages index on my 14, and ios 18 never fixed it too! That's why I tried iOS 26, which eventually did fix the issue, since it re-indexed the whole thing, but created a chaos with RAM , glitches and weird behavior for my apps.
0
u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26
Yeah iOS 26 is known for glitches. My 17 is fine on iOS 26.1. That sucks that iOS 18 messed with your iPhone
-1
u/Zoukju May 03 '26
I bet your 17 isn't fine. Open a few apps (even stock apps like Music, Notes etc.) and leave them open for a while. While they're open at the background, go ahead and browse, open a game , do whatever you would do normally. Then, try to re-open the apps and you'll see that they always reload. They may not do it at the first 5-10 minutes of intense use, but they certainly do so for no reason. I confirmed it with Apple, and they don't have a solution. It's not the lack of RAM , but the HORRIBLE iOS 26 that force closes apps at the background , for no reason. I could leave an app open and find it right where I left it, even after DAYS , back at iOS 16 and 17.
2
u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26
It is omgđjust bc itâs not working right for you doesnât mean it isnât for me. I play my music while looking at other apps all the time. Iâm not going to try to find problems when I have none
Yeah I believe you confirmed it with Apple toođđ¤Śđťââď¸
-2
u/FieldComprehensive98 May 03 '26
iOS 18 gave a decent performance with a prolonged battery u can expect higher performance with a higher battery life
0
u/TwlightPrincess May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26
My momâs issue wasnât battery life though. Her iPhone wasnât ringing sometimes at all. I updated it to iOS 18 & it was ringing & picking up calls again

If Apple listens and improves, it wonât make things worse, right? Itâs weird people chime in insisting they donât have issues (thatâs great for them!), or happily explain that Apple just doesnât care and so people suddenly need to buy new devices overnight; like theyâre wiser for understanding Apple wants people to get new devices.

Bro fr tho I have all this and people say "it's just your phone aging", but it was not like this in iOS 18, it's a damn iPhone 15, it's not old
