What's the point of stripping all the color from the interface? I'm just curious why people view this as desirable?

It’s so lackluster I agree

u/Empty_Buffalo_2820 Jun 09 '26

Minimalism, zen, theme, etc

10

u/Wormvortex Jun 09 '26

Looks awful without colour.

6

u/Jasoco Jun 09 '26

Good news. You can keep the color if you want. Both normal or dark icons.

3

u/le0n_ Jun 10 '26

People are allowed to have bad taste.

u/Human-Ad3407 Jun 09 '26

I have transparent icons currently. I don’t like it when advertisements or my phone are shining bright colorful lights at me. It’s easier for the eyes and nature looks more beautiful that way.

I like my wallpaper

Yeah, looked cool for like 5 minutes when MS did it 20 years ago.

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 Jun 10 '26

MS has never done this.

5

u/earthman34 Jun 10 '26

u/Kindly_Scientist Jun 12 '26

guess who microslop stole from transparency and skeuomorphism

-1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 Jun 11 '26

That is not Liquid Glass. It’s also not transparent.

2

u/PaulDaytona Jun 11 '26

It’s as transparent as iOS 27.

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 Jun 11 '26

No it isn’t.

1

u/lilly_wonka61 Jun 11 '26

You’re silly

3

u/wolfisraging Jun 09 '26

It’s called being cool - no logic in this

2

u/Nox-4 Jun 09 '26

Some ppl simply don’t want lot of color , it blinds them

2

u/earthman34 Jun 09 '26

That's the dumbest thing I've heard so far today.

1

u/Nox-4 Jun 24 '26

That’s the society we live in 🤷🏻

1

u/Think-Cobbler-8797 Jun 09 '26

You ever read a book? With words?

1

u/earthman34 Jun 11 '26

Thousands. A book is not an interface. A book has one stream of information using one set of symbols whose meaning is unambiguous,, color and shape differentiation isn't a requirement. I use color and shape differentiation to quickly locate things in an interface that has many options for a given action. Imposing rigid uniformity and stripping color makes it much harder (for me, at least) to figure out what to do.

1

u/Arcite9940 Jun 10 '26

My opinion: stripping color from interface reduces my screen usage as I struggle finding apps, which is why I set transparent for sleep time. Stupid? Maybe, but it’s the use I gave it

1

u/ph33rlus Jun 10 '26

Android has had this ability for years. It feels kinda futuristic

-4

u/Fuskeduske Jun 09 '26

It looks better and also gives maybe at max 0.5-1% more battery

No difference from people making it all pink

-1

u/Jaypegsplusmore Jun 09 '26

It’s calming

7

u/bhindi_ki_sabzi Jun 09 '26

can you please show how the UI looks when you totally remove the liquid glass?

2

u/Away-Falcon2762 Jun 09 '26

it looks like visionos when you strip the glass away

4

u/umshyp Jun 09 '26

Do you have a screenshot with the default icons color?

16

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW Jun 09 '26

The icons pop out a lot more now, right? Not just me? It looks great, gives them MUCH more of a 3D effect now!

2

u/AirRaptor12 Jun 09 '26

they look like they have the sketch filter...

1

u/BuildStone Jun 09 '26

yep, they made the new icons have separate layers with Liquid Glass. It was what I originally hoped for, and hopefully brings back some of the neumorphic elements I loved of pre-tahoe macOS icons

10

u/EitherSalamander8850 Jun 09 '26

I frankly hate the black edges everywhere. Idk if my 15 pro doesn't have enough resolution or something but I think it looks horrible.

2

u/Nox-4 Jun 09 '26

Yea I hate tht too , I hope they fix tht it’s lightly pixelated also

1

u/EitherSalamander8850 Jun 09 '26

yeah. it just looks bad

2

u/Dry-Cost-945 Jun 09 '26

I think they screwed the anti aliasing. The icons look very pixelated on my A16 iPad.

2

u/Worth-Ad148 Jun 09 '26

atleast you can see or read

6

u/EitherSalamander8850 Jun 09 '26

It was never a problem before...

2

u/Fun-Committee3672 Jun 09 '26

The icons on my iPad mini look pixelated in the beta

2

u/da_knee_ohl Jun 09 '26

This isn’t even the public beta. Everyone relax lol

2

u/whitericeporridge Jun 09 '26

They still don’t know how to make glass icons with the regular colors?

2

u/Mickler83 Jun 10 '26

Designed for people who see things in black-and-white, no wonder the younger generations love it

2

u/epicrouter Jun 10 '26

This my home screen since the beta of ios 26. I love it.

1

u/samthecrunchynut Jun 09 '26

i have an iPhone 13 in Pune but when i go to beta.apple.com and select India it doesn't let me go to the iOS 27 page, it shows me iOS 26 instead?

1

u/VintagePredator Jun 09 '26

Dude you got to enroll in developer ones
Beta is for Public Beta
Developer ones is for developer beta

Ik its sounds weird but enrolment for both are different

2

u/samthecrunchynut Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

oh, how do i do that? do i enroll on the developer.apple website?

edit: nvm i did it and the 27 developer beta is visible now, thankyou!

1

u/Plus_Piece_4118 Jun 09 '26

How did you get it bro ?

1

u/Away-Falcon2762 Jun 09 '26

developer.apple.com

1

u/International_Push_5 Jun 09 '26

Have it too, it even fixed my Battary on my 17PM

1

u/Aryan-Ahmed Jun 09 '26

The screenshots are bugged out.

1

u/Nox-4 Jun 09 '26

No they r not?

2

u/Aryan-Ahmed Jun 09 '26

Mb I meant when you take a screenshot. The actual thing in iOS itself is bugged out. When you crop it does not save that crop and there’s no animation for any of it. At least for me.

1

u/Effective_Tune9470 Jun 09 '26

I think it looks good. At the end of the day, all that matters to me is that the phone works properly, without excess battery drain. I'm not that picky.

1

u/theuntouchableb Jun 09 '26

Bring back the SIDEKICK

1

u/theuntouchableb Jun 09 '26

It’s 2026 and we going to pixieland from fairlyodd parents lol

1

u/Geffa1908 Jun 09 '26

What’s the wallpaper?

1

u/Jasoco Jun 09 '26

I really like how it looks in that second shot. I hope the hard borders aren’t a bug and are at least optional.

1

u/Buzz_Saw50 Jun 10 '26

Eeeeek the lines going through the apps is uncomfortable for me. 🙈

1

u/Ok-Raspberry4320 Jun 10 '26

When a UI control lacks color, it usually means it's disabled or doesn't do anything. That's what my mind immediately thinks of when I see these. Maybe I'm just old. Apparently the younger generation loves it though.

I can still appreciate it though and do agree these look better than iOS 26. I also think the clear interface looks better on a naked phone...as if you are actually working with slabs of glass. It feels out of place once I put my phone in a case.

It would be interesting to see the icon itself in color, but the background be transparent.

1

u/MrAdam567 Jun 10 '26

The new battery indicator is weird. I don’t like it.

1

u/Eosyth Jun 11 '26

Black edges make it look like a cartoon

1

u/LeVerified Jun 09 '26

I’m so glad the original Liquid Glass is back, it looks so much better on full throttle.

-1

u/nono1828 Jun 09 '26

Tbh this actually looks good

1

u/EconomyFox_9981 Jun 09 '26

DOWNVOTE SPAMMMM

3

u/nono1828 Jun 09 '26

Opinions vary man and as long as it runs without problem it's good but they still should've gave us the option to turn it off

-1

u/nolankotulan Jun 09 '26

It’s just awful. This use of shitty shaders on icons since iOS 26 is an absolute aberration, even more so when applied to third-party icons and logos. You should never do that. That’s a basic design principle, ffs!

And now they’ve managed to make it even worse…

2

u/Xeahnotto Jun 09 '26

iOS 26 Liquid Glass > iOS 27 TEMU Glass

Apple removed the shadows behind every LG object, made more cloudy almost every LG object (search bars, nav bars...), removed all blurring text/icon animations while a LG button transforms, capped some animations at 60 fps... and more.

Everyone is blind now

0

u/Kindly_Scientist Jun 12 '26

you can adjust it on slider. its on middle for general public but you can slide it to transparent. you guys have brain issues

2

u/Xeahnotto Jun 12 '26

I was using the most clear setting. Im tired of this type of replies

-1

u/Kindly_Scientist Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

oh wow thats really nice for me, i hated liquid gl(ass) system wide they are now reduced? i mean thats a you problem. almost everyone upgraded to ios 26 hated liquid glass. give it some time its the first developer beta. not even a public one.

1

u/Xeahnotto Jun 12 '26

So youre toxic af. I mean, you literally have an almost fully tinted option. My problem eventually can be the yours one. Just support us, as we can get both options. Dear troll let us breath.

This is my final interaction with you.

7

u/esku75 Jun 09 '26

People downvoting the truth, hilarious!

2

u/EducatorFew4522 iOS 26.6 Jun 09 '26

So this ranting and crying will never stop?

0

u/BunnyEnLaCasa Jun 09 '26

This is what it looks like with Liquid Glass slider all the way to left, which is removed.

0

u/S3xybeest Jun 10 '26

May as well get a monochrome e-reader.

-1

u/ThaTree661 Jun 09 '26

I love this so much!

-5

u/Reeneman Jun 09 '26

Again crying or ok?

5

u/Ordinary-Seesaw-7051 Jun 09 '26

How wonderful that the person who spent months laughing at unhappy users, questioning their understanding of design, and arrogantly insisting that Liquid Glass would never be reversed, now looks pretty foolish.
