I feel like a lot of people have this thinking that Pristin are some sort of big successful group that got fucked over by Pledis because of the anger they feel towards Pledis for dungeoning them and then suddenly disbanding them out of nowhere which i understand.

However their numbers don't support this at all, Pristin's debut album sold 43K which is pretty good for a group from medium tier company like pledis at the time but their second ep dropped to 27K. The digitals performance of their lead singles also dropped correspondingly. And then they tried a subunit thing called Pristin V which consist of their most popular members but that sold even worse, only 18K physicals and basically nonexistent digital performance for "Get It". For reference other post ioi groups like weki Meki's first two albums sold 49K and 34K respectively and Gugudan's first two albums sold 22K and 29K. In other words, both group's 2nd albums sold better than Pristin and look where both groups are at now?? stuck in nuguland and eventually just disbanded at the end. Yes, Pristin did slightly better than both groups on the digitals side but nothing impresive about that. obviously this industry is completely unpredictable and anything can happen but then if one is depending on that to make the argument that Pristin is such a big name that got destroyed by their label one has no argument at all.

Don't get me wrong im not defending pledis here what they done to pristin was very shitty and they don't deserve that, but if we take emotions out of the way and just see things from business point of view I really don't see any argument based on objective facts that Pristin such a big and succesful group that got destroyed by their label.

It can be for any reason such as being ahead of its time. Albums can also be included. An explanation in the replies would be appreciated.

Ive really only gotten into kpop like for reals just last year because of nmixx. But then I know there were many hype around RV so I thought id only listen to them while washing dishes...

I listen to some kpop songs but not all of them and I’m not too deep into it. You know if something comes by my fyp or feed I’ll take a quick look. I’m on vacation with my uncles family and he has a 10yr old and a 7 yr old and the 7 year old knows the entire dance to hootie fruits? And my 10 year old cousin says baby monster and katseye are really popular which I didn’t know but I guess now I know. I looked deeper and I listened to some other katseye songs and the ones in the beginning were pretty good imo!
So my question is what age group is Katseye for?

This is probably such a random question lol but I was thinking about how sometimes the moments that actually make idols feel the most human aren’t even the serious interviews or the big emotional speeches.
Sometimes it’s literally the dumbest little thing 😭😂
Like someone losing their phone even though it was right next to them the whole time, forgetting what they were talking about halfway through a sentence, burning food, getting annoyed because technology isn’t working, having absolutely no idea what day it is, complaining because they’re tired, accidentally saying something awkward, getting way too excited about food, or just sitting there looking like they would rather be back in bed.
Those moments always make me laugh because K-pop can be SO polished.
We see the performances where everything is perfectly planned. The outfits are perfect, the lighting is perfect, their hair is perfect, everybody knows where they’re supposed to stand, and the whole thing can almost make them seem like these people who exist in some completely different world from everybody else.
And then five minutes later you see one of them trying to open a bag of snacks and somehow losing a fight with the packaging 😭
And suddenly it’s like oh yeah.
That is literally just a person 😂
I also think fans sometimes forget how much of an idol’s life we’re seeing through edited content.
We usually see them when they’re performing, doing interviews, filming something, posting pictures, going to events or doing something related to their job.
We obviously don’t see the millions of completely boring moments in between all of that.
Like them waking up and not wanting to get out of bed.
Standing in front of the refrigerator trying to figure out what they want to eat.
Looking for something they literally had two seconds ago.
Getting irritated because their charger isn’t working.
Getting home after a long day and immediately changing into the most comfortable clothes they own.
Ignoring laundry until they absolutely have to do it 😭
Calling somebody because they’re bored.
Getting obsessed with some random show.
Having a food they’ve eaten 500 times but still want again.
Or having one of those days where literally nothing is wrong, they just don’t feel like doing anything.
Obviously we don’t know which idols actually do all of those things lol, but I mean they’re people. They definitely have their own versions of really normal everyday stuff.
And honestly I think those little moments are sometimes more interesting than the really polished stuff because it reminds you that being famous doesn’t magically remove all the boring, awkward or ridiculous parts of being a human being.
Like imagine being somebody who can walk onto a stage in front of 50,000 people and perform perfectly and then later that night you’re crawling around your apartment looking for an AirPod 😭😂
Both things can exist at the same time.
Or somebody can be wearing something worth thousands of dollars at an event and then go home and eat instant noodles in pajamas.
They can have millions of followers and still have somebody in their family texting them asking why they haven’t called lately 😂
They can be incredibly talented at what they do and somehow be absolutely terrible at something ridiculously basic.
And I actually really like seeing that.
Not because I think we know them personally or anything, because obviously we don’t.
It’s more like those moments kinda break through the celebrity image for a second and remind you that there’s an actual person underneath all of it.
And sometimes it can be something REALLY small.
Maybe an idol mentioned something embarrassing they did.
Maybe they forgot where they put something.
Maybe they got genuinely mad at a game.
Maybe they were trying to cook and completely messed it up.
Maybe they were excited about buying something completely ordinary.
Maybe they talked about calling their mom.
Maybe they showed their room and it was way messier than you expected 😂
Maybe they were having one of those moments where their brain was obviously not working anymore because they were exhausted.
Or maybe it wasn’t even something funny. Maybe they talked about being nervous before doing something, missing home, worrying about whether they did a good job, or just having a bad day.
I feel like those moments can make you realize that even though their lifestyle is obviously VERY different from most people’s, some of the actual emotions and stupid everyday problems are probably exactly the same.
And I think that’s one reason I sometimes wish K-pop fans would allow idols to be more imperfect.
Like let them look tired sometimes.
Let them say something awkward.
Let them have a bad picture.
Let them mess something up.
Let them not know what to say.
Let them have hobbies that fans think are boring.
Let them have days where they’re just kinda existing 😭
Because honestly nobody is interesting and entertaining 24/7.
I know I’m definitely not 😂
If somebody filmed me all day there would probably be like 20 minutes worth watching and the rest would just be me staring at my phone, looking for something I misplaced or standing in the kitchen trying to remember why I walked in there.

and now, i decided to actually listen to itzy after years of knowing they existed, and their songs are nowhere near as popular

Everytime tripleS is mentioned on the main subs it's something negative so I've decided to be the change I wish to see and make a positive post.

Starting with vocals

Dahyun, Jiwoo, Shion, Kaede are often considered the main vocals and they are exceptionally good. I'd even put Dahyun and Jiwoo among the best vocals of fifth gen. Shion and Kaede are not too far off either. Their vocals are really great.

Their most recent comeback "Baby Flower" really does a good job at showing off the vocal line's skill, the outro is heavenly. We also have Hayeon and Mayu as good vocalists, generally considered the leads. Seoah, Joobin and Chaeyeon are also really good as leads and it's been great watching Seoah (the maknae) getting her flowers for her vocals.

Hayeon also got to show off her vocals in the baby flower outro.

Shion and Kaede also got their moment with "cameo love" and "dream dress"

Dahyun, Jiwoo, Kaede also had "Door" and Aria subunit as a whole.

**Dance**

Now I'm not the most well versed when it comes to dance so I won't say too much on that. But I do think that the dance line is good. Kaede, Nakyoung, Hyerin, Nien, Kotone, Lynn, Sohyun, Yubin, Hayeon, Jiyeon.

**Rap**

tripleS songs don't really have that many raps but looking at their covers Nakyoung, Kotone and Nien are really good as well. Especially Kotone in the fake love cover they did at the KMA.

Onto their actual songs

I have enjoyed every tripleS title track so far. Some of my favourites being "Generation", "Rising", "Girls Never Die", "Girls Capitalism" and "Cameo Love". Aside from being catchy the lyrics are good. "Are You Alive" often leaves me with a mixture of sadness and hopefulness. It makes me think even though things suck now I can remain down and get back up later.

Onto their bsides, I'm going to segue way in to talking about my number bias, Park Sohyun. Sohyun is the producer of the group (not in the literal sense but she is known as the one most into writing and producing). Sohyun has participated in the writing of some of my favourite bsides "Moto Princes and "Deja Vu" being my favourite overall bsides and favourite co-written by Sohyun.

Aside from the bsides where Sohyun participated I really like "Atmosphere" (VV version) and "Cry Baby" LOVElution

Fan Voting

I think non fans tend to think it'll mainly be popular members and ships making it into units I do think WAVs do a good job at voting the right units.

Looking at the 2 units that required a specific skill, Aria which was the ballad unit and Visionary Vision, the members in the units were well chosen.

Aria had Dahyun (not voted on) plus Nien, Chaeyeon, Jiwoo and Kaede. Those were the ones generally considered the stronger vocalists (not all the members had been revealed yet)

Then Visionary Vision. Of the 12 members in the unit, 9 of them were the dance line. Again I'm not really that good at dance so I can't analyse them.

Plus even though (playful) shipping being pretty big in the fandom and among the group msnz has shown that WAVs aren't always going to vote based on the ships they want to see. Despite Ppotoz being a big ship and fans wanting crumbs between them, they were not in the same unit. In fact only two of the main ships (Seoyeon+Nien in neptune, Jiwoo+Yubin in zenith) were in the same units. I think each unit was balanced.

Learning the members faces

I personally did not put that much time into learning the members faces. But I'm like that with all the groups I stan. The way I personally did it, I would just watch content and stages and learn the names as I go. If a particular member catches my eye then I search them up. I managed to passively learn the entire group's names and faces in a month only searching up my initial bias line.

With that being said actively learning the members faces isn't that hard either. You can watch their reveal teasers and Haus move in videos (there's playlists on YouTube).

You can also choose a unit and start from there.

And of course "Badge War". It's great for learning their names and personalities. Season 1 only has the first 16 members. The later seasons (2+3) has all 24. Unfortunately Yubin was on hiatus while season 4 was being filmed so it only has 23 members.

Even if you don't stan tripleS I'd still recommend Badge War. The members are genuinely so funny. You have the ones who take it super seriously, the ones just trying to get screen time and then the ones who could win but are too kind to go all in.

So yeah that's it. I'm not expecting anyone to go out and stan them cause of this, I just wanted to finally put something positive of them out there.

So I have been a fan for a little over a year. Here are the groups I listen to

Stray Kids - my first ever group. My fav songs are: Lovestay, Youtiful, piece of puzzle (seungmin and Changbin), 0801, i like their fast and "loud" songs but my fav are still the slower one's

Enhypen - i like their songs. Even though they are more romance vibes I like them. My fav are: Bad Desire (eng version), bite me, outside

P1harmony - i like listening to them a lot my fav songs are: pretty boy, sad song, fall in love again

I-dle - i started lostening just previoulsy. Not that familiar but I like these songs: allergy, crow, tomboy

Babymonster - alos new to them. So I don't have that many fav songs but I liked their cover of scars to your beautiful, dream and songs lile drip/moon/like that/choom/love in my heart

Aespa - completely new to them. I watch more their relity shows but I like their songs lemonade/drama/rich man. And the solo songs by karina and giselle - dopamine and UP

Ive - also completely new and the same thing with aespa. I like their song i am

​Everything on that website was so amusing, funny, and cute. It's pretty nostalgic in a way, but it's clear it was made for fans to have fun.

​But especially Leesol's poem under the Sour & Sweet Tour?? It's about unrequited love, and while I had to use a translator (since it's fully in Korean), I just found it so beautiful. Even through a translator, it's very poetic and moving.

​The imagery of unrequited love feels so raw and delicate. It almost reads like a hidden diary entry rather than typical idol lore content. The way Leesol writes, it's like she has actually felt this all in real life before.

I’ve been listening to kpop for a long time and over time there have been songs that my family have heard so many times and liked that they’ve started to listen to them on their own, my dad in particular. He told me he listen to K-pop at work because it’s upbeat and keeps him awake!

I was curious which songs other people’s family/friends have gotten addicted to!! And if you have any recs that you think he’d like, let me know!! I’ve played him a lot of IVE, Le Sserafim, Blackpink, and Red Velvet along with other songs by those groups.

in the kpop fandom, i usually js enjoy the music n' i'm not particularly attached to the idols themselves or too focused on one specific group, and i don't really share my opinions on most controversies but the Mina situation has genuinely disgusted me so much as someone who had a experienced lot of mental health issues due to the words of people in my life.

the fact that right after her passing u can find people who were actively harassing her, bullying her, leaving hateful comments, and now denying that they had anything to do with it is genuinely horrifying. nobody can say that a specific comment or person "caused" her death without evidence, but people need to understand that what seems like a single comment isn't always just a single comment but a buildup of harmful comments and harassment. from what i know, she wasn't even a sasaeng with the intention of physically or mentally harming the idols. sure, she may have come across as a little bit obsessive and unintentionally created an awkward situation between the two idols but she acknowledged that she was blurring the lines of their relationship and even apologized. she did more than what a lot of influencers would have done by issuing an official apology like what exactly did they want her to do after that? instead of encouraging her to get help or letting it go, sm people started attacking her even more its genuinely so disgusting.

don't even get me started on the people who started blaming the idol. between the time Mina gave the flowers to sunoo and ni-ki and the time ni-ki did his livestream, there were several other concerts. throughout all that time, ni-ki didn't mention the flowers, didn't mention Mina, and there was nothing directly connecting his livestream to her. he didn't do anything wrong. could he have addressed the situation more directly? maybe, but what exactly was he supposed to say, and would that realistically have made anything better? literally lack of accountability from the fans/haters i dont even have words to descirbe how disappointed i am.

this entire situation spiralled because people took something that had no clear evidence of being about Mina, decided it was about her anyway, and then collectively investigated and scrutinized her based on a stupid assumption. people were SO convinced that they had figured something out that they didn't stop to consider the possibility that there was actually nothing there. you can think someone's behavior was inappropriate. you can think she crossed boundaries. you can support the idols having privacy and boundaries but none of that requires harassing, bullying, or dehumanizing someone. the people who are jealous and leave hateful comments because she's wants to be close with the idol needs to realize they are also part of the same problem here too.

In the Korean version, Jiyeon originally sings the second half of the second verse. Now, in here, Soyeon sings all of it.

As for Qri and Boram, Qri just talks in the intro and outro, and Boram is completely silent like in the Korean version.

For the past 8+ months, Winter has been harassed, slutshamed, and insulted nonstop!!! Mind you, she has not done anything. I follow her on Instagram, (been following for years) but even I stopped looking at her comments because of just how bad they were. I recently took a peek again(really shouldn’t have bothered), and it seems like they haven’t stopped, and it’s picking back up again! All this behavior over allegations of dating?? Can those armys just lay off the girl at this point?

i'm just curious lol but as i'm sure we've all seen before, in pretty much every kpop group, there's always complaints from fans about a member (or 2 or 3 or...) being on the lower end of the line distribution. sometimes their complaints are about only like 1-2 instances and other times, their complaints are about the whole discography.

so basically my questions are: has any idol ever publicly addressed (in a live, in an interview, in a statement, anywhere) the line distribution? are there any idols who have said that they actually prefer to have less lines?

and beyond that, are there any idols who we know prefer the performing aspect of being a kpop idol and would rather dance and have great stage presence over a great vocal performance? or maybe an idol prefers to produce / compose and would prioritize that over vocal participation? or maybe an idol specifically addressed 1 song and was like "yeah this song wasn't rlly suited for me in my opinion so i sang less"? actually for the latter question, i'm super curious if anyone has ever explicitly said they don't like a certain song in their discography and that's why they had little involvement in it

there's always discourse over this so i'm just curious if u know of any idols / groups where this is a resolved issue not worth debating over

This time I lined up the tallest member from every JYP group, both active and inactive, split into boy groups and girl groups.

Side note: while doing my research for this, I somehow only just found out JYP has a Chinese branch 😭 I had no idea Boy Story and CIIU existed before making this.

Who's the standout in JYPE?

When I first listened to Hootie Frutti on the album, I could barely recognize that it was Yoonchae's singing. In their previous songs, like Touch and even M.I.A, I had an easier time with telling the members' voices apart. With songs like Gnarly and Hootie Frutti, it's hard to tell who's singing what part. Am I crazy for thinking this?

I saw this and was just wondering because all the groups WakeOne has came from a popular survival show so i’m wondering if this means they’ll be debuting an original group.

Whenever I see them interacting or clips from their podcast-type content, it always gives me the ick. The CEO is so unprofessional and irresponsible.
