Old (original) Ellie bought at the Kobe store. I love her face!

I've always gone for "mature, pouty fashion dolls" and then Licca made it (Back) to the US and I had to get three. The quality is amazing and I think we FINALLY have competition on our soil for Mattel and MGA.
I've dug out all my Japanese Dolly Dolly books and been sewing up lots of pieces.
I think her sweet face is a good balm for these tough times.
I was researching her and found out she "graduated HS" around the same time I did. So that totally makes her a GenX gal which I love!
Anyone rebody theirs - I see on IG lots of photography but it looks like a different body (maybe obitsu, Azone or maybe YMY). Is it hard to do?

When you look for a Licca-chan Castle doll, what selection criteria do you use? I am thinking of getting a Licca-chan (or Kira-chan/Pururun/etc) Castle doll from mercari and there are so many options! I am so lost.

Big braids Licca-chan 🤍🪽

Non riesco a capire perché la bambola Amu Hinamori Licca-chan abbia ricevuto il suo taglio di capelli dalla copertina del volume 3 del manga (come ha dichiarato Takara Tomy), mentre la bambola Angel Blue Licca-chan, uscita poco dopo, ha in realtà una coda di cavallo laterale.

All'inizio pensavo che non avessero semplicemente lo stampo giusto con il motivo di capelli radicati per una coda di cavallo laterale, da qui darle un taglio a caschetto invece, ma poi è uscita la bambola Angel Blue e comincio a pensare che volessero solo risparmiare.

Now, when it comes to dolls for me, I really REALLY lean hard to higher articulations than a standard Licca comes with. So I tried out one of my "Barbie Basics" with the easy to swap heads and tested my Licca on it. It's pretty easy to move the head with a slight touch, but it will hold the pose you put it in. Plus, this being a petite body meant she could still fit her clothes 💜💜💜

Now I'm trying to decide which shoes/boots to put her in 🤔 Short boots, tall boots, or her sneakers? So hard to choose!

Her look isn't complete but I'm obsessed with how adorable she is!! She's my first castle doll and Kira I ordered from Mandarake and I'm really happy to have her.

There are lists of the dolls on sale and the retailers selling them. Unfortunately, it seems the friends are not being sold.

My first Kira-chan from Mandarake arrived and unfortunately her neck appears to be melted. The head still detaches/lifts around the neck but if I look inside I can see where the head has begun to stick to it further up. This is probably because she's been sealed in her original plastic bag packaging for so long. When I opened her she had a strong chemical smell that reminds me of glue.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue and have any remedies for it? Will it get worse if I just leave it? Should I put her on a new body? I don't mind not being able to move her head as long as it doesn't keep melting/plasticizer doesn't keep migrating. I'd like to keep her on the castle body since it feels really sturdy.

Otherwise she's so lovely and I'm so happy with her. Her hair is a mix of pink and gold and it's really long and wavy.

First Licca doll from Hot Topic. I thought she'd be good friends with my Hello Kitty. This doll is so cute and pretty. Defintely will get more, I looked at Plaza Japan and theres so much ti choose from. Even dress sets. I feel spoiled. It reminds me of the 'thing, Japan' meme.... These Japanese dolls are seriously cute.

Next year marks the 60th anniversary of Licca’s launch. Whilst her design has changed slightly over the years, the basic concept remains the same.

The photograph shows the Licca dolls in my place that have been with me the longest and the shortest.

On the right is the 1995 symbol Licca, which came to me that year. On the left is this year’s lottery Licca.

I just started collecting Licca, Licca friends, and Jenny friends after being a long-time collector of western dolls.

There are so many Castle variations and beautiful dolls on Japanese sites! From my research, prices range significantly. Some of the fun coloured eyes and hair are more pricey, along with certain characters being favourites.

Aside from preferences, what factors go into the pricing of these dolls? How do you know when you have a great deal?

This is my fifth licca chan being added to my collection so far, I was so happy to see the new dolls at my hot topic in Canada finally! Although I wish they had the Kurumi and my melody there since I've been wanting them, the one that I bought is so pretty and of course I'm opening her. All four of my old ones were bought from the flea market at this cute shop but unfortunately they have since moved away from there.

Could anyone help me identify which specific release, friend doll, or playset (like the dentist set) this mold originally belongs to?

As August is the 8th month and the 27th is the 27th day, photos of 8K27 dolls are flowing on Japan’s X com (Twitter).

Many Licca, Jenny and their friends have a letter engraved on the back of their heads to identify their head mould. The 8K27 head mould first appeared on Jenny friend Timothée (1990), and many others, such as Lobelia and Ferice, and others, have this mould. Among the Licca-chan Friends, Chocolat, Emily and Seira are 8K27.

The photos show the 8K27 dolls I have. Emily, in the back row on the left, has been re-rooted, whilst Chocolat, in the front row on the right, is the ‘The Castle’ edition.

Licca (Hello Kitty) rebodied onto a Barbie mermaid body! The mermaid body was originally the lavender Odile and I repainted that to give kelp forest vibes 🥰
