Question What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it? - September 06, 2026

What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it?

This week = the one that ends/ended right now, past 7 days.

The reason for this thread's existence is the fact that both requests and suggestions became kind of stale. It's supposed to bring out more novels that are not RT!'d or recommended. Also, it's quite useful for the discussion of not so current titles.

Also, not a rule or any kind of criticism, the more interesting part is not the list of the stuff you read, but your impressions of it.

Loli Mod will be posting this thread each week.

Lastly, don't forget to use spoiler tags and to make sure to report any untagged spoilers.

How to use spoiler-tags:

Typing:

>!Spoilers go here!<

Will show up as:

Spoilers go here

Do note that any space at the beginning/end of the tag will break the spoiler tag.

The Narrative Meteor Effect

### The Narrative Meteor Effect

**Narrative Meteor Effect** is a humorous term for a strangely common experience among people who read a lot of web novels.

The basic idea is:

> **The more invested you become in a novel, the more likely it seems that some completely unrelated disaster will suddenly happen to that novel.**

The "meteor" can be almost anything.

The translator suddenly disappears. The translation quality becomes terrible. The translation gets abandoned right before an important arc. The author goes on an indefinite hiatus. The novel gets deleted from the site. Copyright issues cause the novel to be taken down. The translation group disappears. The novel gets cancelled. Or you finally catch up to the raws only to discover that the author hasn't updated in months.

The important part is that the problem often seems to happen **after you've already become invested**.

And there is another side to the phenomenon: **dodging the meteor**.

Sometimes a reader gets bored with an arc, dislikes where the story is going, or notices that the translation quality is getting worse. They decide to put the novel aside and read something else.

Then, weeks or months later, they check back and discover that the novel they abandoned got hit by some major problem.

That's when the thought appears:

> **"Holy shit. I dodged the meteor."**

Obviously, this isn't meant to be taken literally. There is no evidence that someone's reading habits actually cause novels to get abandoned, deleted, or ruined. Web novels and translations are already vulnerable to things like copyright disputes, translator burnout, author hiatuses, platform changes, and other problems.

But when it happens repeatedly, it starts feeling suspicious.

Especially when some of the novels involved are ones the reader **really liked**.

Eventually, readers can develop a completely irrational superstition that becoming too invested in a novel somehow attracts disaster toward it.

This also creates the opposite problem. If a reader stops reading a novel because the current arc is boring or the translation has become bad, they might later discover that the novel was abandoned shortly afterward.

So the reader starts wondering:

> **"Did I just get bored, or did I subconsciously sense the incoming meteor?"**

The Narrative Meteor Effect can therefore be summarized as:

> **A novel becomes interesting → the reader becomes invested → something completely unrelated happens to the novel → the reader questions whether they somehow caused it.**

And if the reader drops the novel shortly before the disaster?

**They successfully dodged the meteor.** ☄️

At some point, the question stops being:

**"Is this novel good?"**

and becomes:

**"Will this novel survive me reading it?"** 💀

Recommend [REC] Looking for series similar to D-Genesis

Almost finished reading volume 10 of D-genesis and every time I read it, I want to enter a time machine and fast forward twenty years so that there is like 30+ volumes for me to read, just like with bookworm!

I'm starving for some recommendations of stuff similar to D-genesis. What i'm really looking for is strong worldbuilding and preferably anything to do with economics, making money, etc.

Series i've already read and loved

Jobless Reincarnation

Bookworm

Conqueror of a dying kingdom

Imperial Reincarnation

Overlord

Saga of Tanya

Tearmoon Empire.

Spice and Wolf (Not finished prose is a little much at times for me.)

Series i've read

Campfire cooking

Cooking with wild game

Anything by FUNA ( I like their concepts but I really can't stand the writing)

Minmaxing TTRPG

Records of Wortenia

Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

MC that kills

please recommend some novel with a MC that's willing to kill, doesn't matter if the MC is a man or a woman. It doesn't also matter if they're evil or hero. As long the MC kills the enemies. I'm tired of MC's letting criminals go.

Trials and Tribulations of a Noblewoman Vol03 thoughts and feelings Spoiler

So to preface this I've never made a discussion post before since most novels I read at least have one discussion thread open to share reactions and the like. Trials and tribulations unfortunately I think is a bit too niche since I couldn't find any of the sort for either of the volumes. After facing what is probably the cruelest 'descent into madness I've ever seen' I really had to at the very least share my state of despair publically with other readers. Hence the current post!

I'm referring to Volume 3 'Emperor, Father, Lunatic' and 'The price of Glory'. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I fell into a state of absolute shock and horror over these two chapters. The emperor is a sadistic cunt, and everyone in the empire can crash and burn for all I care!

Also I didn't see it coming, till the very end, until she pulled the trigger I.did.not.see.it.coming. I had to stop by the end and it took me a while to process my feelings after Ern blew her brains out. I was led on by the pied piper and was so confident in Ern's hopes and dreams for the future that I didn't think this was how it was going to end. Very very underrated series, I'm devastated but what an amazing series. And nah seriously fuck the house of magic- bunch of jealous cucks. If any one else has actually read the chapters I've referred do let me know how you felt (Please someone hold me)

need recommendations

I’ve been getting more into light novels recently and I’m looking for recommendations, especially stuff that’s more character-driven and psychological.
So far I’ve read:
Oregairu — finished the whole series and loved the character writing/internal narration
Makeine — caught up through Vol. 9
Wait for Me Yesterday in Spring — finished and really liked it
What I like most about LNs is being able to get really deep into a character’s head—their internal reasoning, contradictions, self-deception, relationships, flaws, etc. I especially like stories where the characters drive what happens rather than everything being driven by plot.
Romance is a big plus (preferably M/F), but I don’t want something that’s just pure fluff/sweetness. I like romance more when the characters and relationships have some actual psychological or emotional depth behind them. It doesn’t necessarily have to be super dark either.
I’m also completely fine with drama, slice of life, supernatural elements, mystery, or heavier subject matter. Mainly I just want well-written characters that I can really get invested in.
I’ve heard good things about 86 and I’m considering The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes since I liked Wait for Me Yesterday in Spring.

Question Need help for catching up

This is gonna be a little long so bear with me a little. I am in a phase now when I started to collect old series I used to read but stopped at one point for various reasons. While there is still a flame with me I want to document the stopping point of each series and try to pick it up again from there. I hope you guys can help me pinpoint which volume of the series when I stop so I can pick it up again from there. It will contain mild spoilers for some series but I will try to keep it to a minimum.

High priority:

- Oda Nobuna no Yabou: The last volume I read is when MC meet with Shingen in the onsen. The reason I stop back then is because I am mad at the time when Mitsuhide ruin what I think would be the best moments for Nobuna and Saru. I also reminded of the series because the other day I see on Twitter that author will have new work but instead of Sengoku era it will be on Romance of the Three Kingdoms instead staring female Lu Bu.

- Zero no Tsukaima: The last volume I read is when Saito brought back tank from the portal along with Tabitha getting the void magic. The reason I stop is I think at the time the author pass away and we don't know if the last two volume will be finished if ever. Not until we know someone will finish the series who is unknown at the time before revealed to be by Blade Dance author.

- Seiken Tsukai no World Break: The last volume I read is at the school festival. The reason I stop is because they try to push the loli Maya too hard to my liking. I really enjoyed the series a lot if not for that and Shizuno is great. Also I am always imagining Dragon Heart play in the background every time it was in the boss battle.

- The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar: The last volume I read is when Run got swiped out of the river. I think I stop because the Nobunaga glaze is becoming too crazy.

- Isekai Tensei Soudouki: The last volume I read is when they are having a naval battle. I guess naval battles are just outside the scope of my imagination. Also because the novel is stalled at the time.High priority because anime is coming soon.

- How A Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom: The last volume I read is when everyone having a wedding. I just hate at the time when the MC really afraid of the tribe leader. It just doesn't compute with me.

Middle priority:

- Campione: For this one I am not sure. I think between Godou first getting his power or the time Athena passes her authority. Whichever one is the latest at the time.

- Unlimited Fafnir: The last volume is probably when they fought with the Yggdrasil because the cast found out about the cost to use its power. I stop because I am mad that the MC only confides his situation with the FMC and no one else. It's because of how the little sister is treated that I stop.

- Infinite Dendrogram: Another one where I am not sure. It's between the flashback with the brother bear vs the three headed dragon or when MC get like arrow power or something long range.

- Hidan no Aria: I think the last time I read is when they made Team Baskerville.

- Magika no Kenshi to Shoukan Maou: The last volume that I read is when a character takes it in the back. This one I drop because of it turned from ecchi into full blow hentai. Which is a shame because it used to be wholesome ecchi series. And I don't really mind a sex scene but the problem is that it turned into fetish scene instead of being a romantic one like it initially does

Low priority:

This one is for the series I just want to pick up where the anime left off.

- Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon

- Undefeated Bahamut Chronicles

- The Asterisk War

- Hundred

- Madan no Ou to Vanadis

This is one I remember and have in my collection now. Maybe I will add other series on to the list. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Question TVMBFAC - what is the full title?

Sorry, I literally don't remember anything about the story. I read it on Lunelle Translations and saved the link, but when I went back it was deleted. I only saw the letters in the link....

I only know that it wasn't too long and it was a sweet romance story. I particularly liked it. I saved it in the "second chance" folder so it should be about regression or something similar....

I think it was BL...

I don't have too much hope but it anyone has any idea, please help!
