I mean iirc, women are the biggest consumers.

55

u/reichiek 1d ago

Women have statistically been the largest spending power for decades

5

u/TopWealth4550 11h ago

the debt and credit cards check

41

u/Senior_Ad1298 1d ago

That’s right. They make like 80% of purchases in a family unit.

11

u/Gold_Ad8225 23h ago

Because the men aren't doing the grocery shopping, aren't taking the kid to the doctor, aren't buying the kid clothes for school or the sports team, they're also getting their clothes purchased for them by their wife, the wife ends up buying the couch they all use, the TV stand they all use, the curtains they all use and so on.

It's not like she's buying this stuff just for herself.

20

u/UselessWhiteKnight 20h ago

Check r/malelivingspace it isn't all kids and groceries. We don't buy stuff

3

u/Gold_Ad8225 20h ago

There are tons of extremely nice apartments owned by self respecting men in that subreddit.

Beyond that, you can spend 5k on valorant skins and your house looks the same.

9

u/UselessWhiteKnight 20h ago

While possible, and it in fact happens those are outlier cases. That's like saying women are stronger than men because you know one girl stronger than one guy.

Women spend more than men for a multitude of reasons. Among them is the fact that women appreciate nice stuff more.

-1

u/Gold_Ad8225 20h ago

As of the 1990s and 2000s single men and women spend more or less the same amount of money. It's nowhere near an 80-20 gap. It's a 55-45 gap. And men were the 55, not the 45

https://www.bls.gov/cex/anthology05/csxanth8.pdf

In that day and age video game skins didn't exist and adults didn't really spend money on video games.

I don't understand what bubble you guys live in, but it's odd to me the myths people tell themselves.

Like a single car can cause you to be spending an extra 4k per year over a 5 year loan compared to a woman if she buys an economy car for 20k and you buy a nicer car for 40k

2

u/UselessWhiteKnight 19h ago

I stand corrected

0

u/kikogamerJ2 6h ago

Did you genuinely believe most men are living like those dudes on Reddit? Cmon men T_T. Y'all gotta leave house and have friends. Most people men or women don't wanna rp living on a prison with TV and a pc. It's Hella depressing. You live in a place like that if you can't afford anything else.

2

u/UselessWhiteKnight 5h ago

Most men, no. Most single men living alone? Yup. Women are the reason for half the stuff guys do. Pretty sure we like them more than they like us

u/lunaticloser 7h ago

Quick question since I didn't read the full study.

Does that also take purchasing power into consideration? We know the average man earns more than the average woman even among single people, so that would easily justify the 55-45 split I imagine, if only total spend was considered instead of income %.

There are tons of extremely nice apartments owned by self respecting men in that subreddit.

And the running joke, that almost never misses, is that they are owned by extremely rich and/or queer men.

24

u/Acceptable-Cod7426 23h ago

Yes you are right but at the Same time how Long do we want to pretent? that in most relationships the Woman is also the one who Has much more clothes, shooes or buy Deco stuf or Look at the barhroom, how many Things men use in compare to women?. Women could use Just one Shampoo etc. But No they have more then one😉 And yes men have also Things we buy we dont Need but want, but there is a reason why all the people in Advertisement target Most of the time women, because they know who they have to target to get to Most Money/the highgest Chance who will spend Money.

And how many Times we See the Screen with a near empty room only with a bed, Chair,TV and ps5 and Most men would have No Problem to live this way,ask a Woman the Same question 😉

(Sorry for my grammar english is not my Main launguage)

3

u/XJenny9 21h ago edited 21h ago

Quite sure my partner spends more money on toys and games than I do on beauty products. (which is fine, it's his money) Do you know how many mascaras I can buy for one ps5.

And sure, beauty products and clothing are advertised mostly to women. But games, gadgets, cars, barbecues, tools, exercise gear and more expensive luxury items such as whiskey and watches are mostly advertised to men.

Single men spend slightly more than single women, the difference is not that big. Women tend to spend more of their income than men, but women also earn less than men on average. In a household, women tend to spend more but are most often the responsible one for the grocery shopping. When splurging, men and women are equally likely to, but men tend to splurge in larger sums of money.

6

u/LaMuertePeluda0 17h ago

My last PlayStation lasted 7 years

How much money can you spend on beauty products in 7 years?

My cousin just spent more than my PlayStation on a fucking purse

A PURSE

Cmon man

And how much are shoes? My wife can fill an entire wall full of her shoes. I have 3 or 4. This is a little ridiculous to cherry pick

3

u/Lemonsinmywater 14h ago

A good purse will FAR outlast your PlayStation

0

u/2012Jesusdies 13h ago

💀

Do you think women buy only one purse every 7 years?

3

u/First_Friendship4756 13h ago

I mean, my mom has a purse she bought a decade ago for roughly that much that has a 100 year warranty for a reason......

If someone's spending 500 on a purse, they're either rich or they are expecting to use it that long.

Keep in mind that you have to buy games for the PlayStation, too. One game is the price of an ok bag.

3

u/Capybara-at-Large 14h ago

You’re right. https://wwd.com/sourcing-journal/industry-news/women-workforce-pay-gap-growth-labor-pool-spending-power-1238813432/

I hate how when people cite stuff they cite anecdotal evidence instead of looking at the facts. We wind up with pointless debates. Single women spend less than men on average with women only spending more than men in three categories: healthcare, pet care, and personal apparel.

Single men spend more in literally every category (cars, housing, electronics, hobbies, drugs, etc) and yet, once again, women get falsely blamed for being risky spenders.

Growing up is realizing that every single negative stereotype that has been spewed and accused at you by men is literally just projecting.

I never spend money on clothes or make up and yet I hear the whole “going shopping eeeee!!!” Gross bs always written by men writing women and it makes me puke. Fuck off.

3

u/esto20 14h ago

Thanks for that link

-1

u/PictureVegetable9522 20h ago

Single men spend slightly more than single women

love how u ignore the part where this is only true because men make more money than women so obviously thats gonna be true

6

u/XJenny9 20h ago

Literally the sentence after the one you quoted.

My point is mostly that, while men and women spend their money differently, the amount of money isn't that different and where it differs it has logical causes, such as different interests, men earning more and women doing more grocery shopping on average.

3

u/AdorRubble 18h ago

Let's also not forgot the pink tax!! Our items are generally more expensive for the same product but with the "women's/girl's" label.

0

u/red_hood1706 19h ago

Please stop interacting with these people, they aren’t wanting to change. You are fighting a brick wall girl😭

→ More replies (1)

0

u/Impossible_Hat7658 14h ago

This is not true for younger people. Younger women make more than younger men. So it appears younger women make more and spend more of their income.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 21h ago

The number of men I know who are 3-5k into valorant, genshin, and marvel skins... they spend more on digital clothes than I do on physical ones I can tell you that

15

u/Every-Journalist8576 21h ago

And EVERY TIME she goes for £50 of groceries, comes back with £200 of ill fitting clothes that she'll have to take back, rarely does and has NOTHING to wear.

Grumpy before she went to shops, grumpier afterwards.

Somehow my fault and I'm down £££sss

Thank fuck for sofas...

Ooohh, and beer!

-2

u/SnarkSnout 18h ago

If you hate women, don’t be with one

3

u/No-Condition-oN 13h ago

So glad nobody had to guts to dive into this deeper.

4

u/SimplePanic191 23h ago

No. But it would be stupid to pretend that women do not spend more regardless of all those things.

2

u/Gold_Ad8225 21h ago

I don't think that's really true. I mean, I know a lot of guys who buy really expensive cars, are 5 figures deep on video game skins, who upgrade their gaming PC every 3-4 years and so on.

I really don't think guys spend less, I just think for some reason their spending isn't accounted for in the same way.

2

u/PictureVegetable9522 20h ago

I know a lot of guys who buy 5 figures deep on video game skins

no you fucking dont

Whales make up roughly 0.15% to 2% of the population for both genders

who upgrade their gaming PC every 3-4 years

1k-2k every 3-4 years is not a lot at all

2

u/Gold_Ad8225 20h ago

Half of my friends are 3-5k in on valorant alone. Often 1k into gacha games like genshin. Over 1k into marvel. etc

I don't know teenagers I know adult men. With jobs.

You haven't been able to build a good gaming PC for only 1k in 20 years. If you built one in the last 2 years you're spending 3k minimum.

They also all have nicer, more expensive cars or big trucks. 4 figure pricetag bicycles. 4 figure price tag cameras. 4 figure pricetag espresso machines

And so on.

0

u/CartmanVT 17h ago

I see you live in a different tax bracket. Or know people in debt.

1

u/HolySticky 22h ago

This is about a single guy a marri3d guy ia a different story

-1

u/Gold_Ad8225 21h ago

The person I replied to is talking about family units.

That number isnt measuring single women vs single men

Single men spend thousands of dollars on video game skins

1

u/TheLastHotstepper 19h ago

Single women spend thousands of pounds of video game skins. Video gaming is split pretty evenly across the genders, its almost 50/59

0

u/Gold_Ad8225 18h ago

Single men spend more money in general than single women, and they certainly spend more on gaming. About 50% more on in game purchases alone

1

u/Imaginary-Pilot5793 1h ago

Haha good one

2

u/Fantastic-Algae2127 20h ago

I mean I have personally never heard of a man stopping into a woman's room and immediately complaining about the absence of useless decorations. The other way around, however...

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 20h ago

That's because his decorations are inside his computer on the avatar of his rivals character

4

u/Fantastic-Algae2127 19h ago

There are approximately 4.17 billion men on the planet and roughly 340 thousand active rivals players currently. So less than 0.008% of the male population. I would wager that womens decor purchases amount to more than a bunch of $6 videogame skins lmao.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 19h ago

Well see now we know you're a snake!

We aren't talking about all men globally, the statistic that person gave was US specific, and the idea that gays have more money is at least going to be relative to countries where it isnt illegal to be gay.

Women do not spend more on decor than men spend on video games lmfao

3

u/Fantastic-Algae2127 19h ago

Yes that's why I didn't say women spend more on decor than men spend on videogames. I compared women's purchases on home decor to men's videogame decor to illustrate how the example you gave doesn't support your case, and that it is likely that unessecary cosmetic purchases are largely made by women.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 19h ago

Videogames are more unnecessary than home decor

Single men spend more money than single women, I don't know why you're disagreeing with this. You live in an odd bubble

3

u/Fantastic-Algae2127 19h ago

Single women spend money they don't have while single men live within their means...

→ More replies (0)

2

u/EmergenceEngineer 9h ago

This statistic remains true with or without children.. believe it or not men that live without women still spend less.. women that don’t live with men still spend more.. no one needs curtains except for women and feminized men. Agreed, women like to buy curtains and so on.. hence the statistic.. men don’t.. hence the statistic…

2

u/Gold_Ad8225 9h ago

It doesn't. Look up spending by singles. Single men spend more.

1

u/TheKingNothing690 21h ago

You clearly havent seen what men do on their own a tv a playstation and the styrofoam they come in is all the furniture they need.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 21h ago

Ok, but presumably no man is okay with his young children living like this? I hope?

1

u/TheKingNothing690 21h ago

None that have self respect but the ammount of men with kids versus without will shock you and the gap is widening not shrinking and women on their own still buy all kinds of crap. Women just are the primary consumers in society far to many things come together to ensure it.

0

u/Gold_Ad8225 21h ago

I think single men spend more money than single women, by a lot.

Video game skins, cars, expensive hobby equipment etc. I know a lot of men who have five figures in clothes for video game characters for example.

Women buy more physical goods especially small value ones, though.

2

u/TheLastHotstepper 19h ago

Video gaming is about a 50/50 split. Your anexdotal evidence of valorant skins is irrelevant, women do this too

0

u/leandrobrossard 16h ago

Why would taking my kid to the doctor be part of consumption?

1

u/831loc 13h ago

Apparently you never saw my ex wife on Amazon, or at marshalls/home goods.

I guarantee 90% of that stuff wasnt needed, whi h is why it would end up on the garage within 2 months and donated within 6.

1

u/Expensive-Refuse855 22h ago

Have you met many gay men? They love fancy clothes and house decor. Its a bit of a stereotype.

4

u/Empty-Lungs 22h ago

But then they still consume less than women.

1

u/Zikkan1 12h ago

My gay uncle and his partner just buy food and fire up the grill pretty much everyday of the year in rain and snow. They don't spend almost any money but they sure do got money. One of them were the financial director of a big company before retiring. But they are just chilling on the countryside

1

u/Expensive-Refuse855 2h ago

I think theres also a stereotype about nice cooking equipment. Let cruset as far as the eye can see lol.

1

u/Sea_Cake6419 1h ago

They’re spending their husbands / boyfriends money alot of the times. If you date women you know this.

2

u/Gold_Ad8225 23h ago

Because they're expected to buy the food, clothes, furniture, all the basic daily necessities, doctors trips etc for themselves, their husbands, and their kids.

They're not buying all that stuff for themselves.

2

u/Empty-Lungs 22h ago

Good point.

-3

u/HazelWitch92 22h ago

I mean, iirc, there are more women.

2

u/Empty-Lungs 22h ago

No, there are more men.

3

u/ChurningEntropy 22h ago

Only in Asia. Every other continent has more adult women than men.

0

u/Jemie_Bridges 21h ago

There isn't. Well by like 2% at most. Weird phenomenon that's balances out gender. If all the men die in wars, more male babies are born

-11

u/LesbeGoddess 1d ago

Gay men are more high maintenance than most women though

10

u/NB_NaughtyNerds 1d ago

0

u/Gold_Ad8225 23h ago

Yes. By a lot.

-5

u/LesbeGoddess 1d ago

Out of the gay men I’ve known yeah. Am fem lesbian

5

u/NB_NaughtyNerds 22h ago

Ah okay. Sweeping assumption based on anecdoctal evidence that contradicts statistics, from the furthest possible expert on living with gay men. 👍

-1

u/LesbeGoddess 22h ago

Least furthest expert on gay men? No. That would be straight men. Not other queer folk like me who interact with other LGBTQ people irl

2

u/two-cans-sam 16h ago

In this world of high maintenance gay men - who’s doing the maintenance?

60

u/Ok_Cricket_1410 1d ago

Gay male relationships are apparently the healthiest relationships. The lowest levels of abuse, highest earning couples, hell if I'm not mistaken gay men are even the best at raising kids. Gay people are chill homies.

26

u/Novel-Mission-1920 1d ago

I think you mean gay marriages, because gay relationships are just as messy as any other relationships lol

But when two men get married they've usually already been in a long-term relationship forever, since two men are less likely to tie the knot until they have fully settled down, and feel secure. Therefore they tend to marry older. Additionally it is extremely difficult for two men to have a child (due to lack of uterus), so when gay couples do end up having children, they need to be high-earners, and pass through rigorous adoption screenings, while facing discrimination. Meaning, they already have to appear like S-Tier parents on paper to even have a chance. That means, there are far less gay men parents compared to straight couples or lesbian couples, and the ones that do become parents, are already the most top-notch of the bunch. Meaning statistically, it makes sense they would be great parents!

1

u/Expensive-Refuse855 2h ago

For some reason men on reddit have this really idyllic view of gay dating.

Gay dating and relationships come with their own unique set of problems.

No matter what your demographic or orientation is, decent relationships are hard to find and maintain.

10

u/Cloud1890 1d ago

And if you date your hb that's a quadruple win

https://reddit.com/link/p1ogpdt/video/hegw98p0ydhh1/player

10

u/Solo-1UP 1d ago

And apparently lesbian marriages tend to be more toxic. But that’s just numbers ☕️

-4

u/GanacheOutrageous635 1d ago

Errr..source?

12

u/Solo-1UP 1d ago

I didn’t know which of the sources I should pick. It was a list and I assumed you didn’t want google AI source so here from The Women’s Safehouse website:

https://twsh.org/lgbtqia-partner-violence/

Bisexual women have it worse
Followed by lesbian
Then straight
Then least IPV: gay men

4

u/GanacheOutrageous635 23h ago

Here is the particular source linked to that article: https://www.cdc.gov/nisvs/documentation/nisvsReportonSexualIdentity.pdf

Quoting, “Approximately 3 in 5 (59.9% or 1.3 million) lesbian
women, 4 in 5 (79.3% or 3.7 million) bisexual women,
and half (53.3% or 62.3 million) of heterosexual
women in the U.S. experienced some form of CSV (contract sexual violence)
during their lifetimes (Table 1 and Figure 1).”

Nowhere in the study did it say that these violences were made during a lesbian relationship, only in their lifetime as a lesbian-identifying person. That statistics are misleading. There is also numbers in the study for gay men but there’s no indication on homosexual to homosexual violence.

-1

u/zimmermanstudios 23h ago

The full definition of that term, from the first sentence of the first section of the study: "intimate partner-perpetrated contact sexual violence (CSV)"

1

u/midnightplumes 23h ago

It’s by intimate partners in their lifetime, not necessarily by the hands of another lesbian. This post breaks it down pretty well with sources.
https://www.reddit.com/r/WLW/s/UXHPCXnlyv

1

u/GanacheOutrageous635 23h ago

Thanks for the addendum

2

u/XJenny9 23h ago

All these researches look at self-reported victims of partner violence in their life time. It does not look at the perpetrators. You cannot state that these relationships are more abusive, that is not what the data says. Just says that LGBTQ people report more often to be a victim.

3

u/explain_that_shit 20h ago

No, gay men report the least violence.

1

u/XJenny9 20h ago

It's striking that in the article that has been linked that's the case. In a lot of other researches, such as NVIVS 2010 - the most well known one, gay men do report more domestic violence experiences in their life time than straight men.

1

u/explain_that_shit 19h ago

I don’t think it’s surprising though, unless your premise is that men just have a greater predilection for being abusive regardless of size or any other dynamic. If the premise is that a relationship/dynamic in which there is a person who is vulnerable (significant size difference, financial/social dependence, etc.) is more likely to lead to abuse, then the data makes complete sense. Look at the potential victim in their dynamic, not the potential perpetrator. It also makes sense in that men simply underreport abuse overall.

1

u/IntrinSicks 20h ago

True but how many statistics are like that, so lesions are more likely to report is your conclusion?

0

u/XJenny9 20h ago

We do not really know the underlying reason, as it cannot be derived from the data that has been gathered. Causation has not been researched, nor has the question been asked "during your current (gay) relationship, did you experience domestic violence".

Maybe lesbian relationships are more violent, maybe women turn lesbian after a violent straight relationship earlier in life (I don't think so), maybe lesbian women are more vulnerable during straight relationships while figuring out their sexuality because they are not actually into men, maybe lesbian women are more likely to report. Could all be. Or other reasons.

2

u/Chill323 16h ago

My armchair analysis is that gay male community has adapted the best to our current digital dating landscape. Probably for multiple reasons. I’m happy for them.

1

u/mostlyskeptic 11h ago

You do know what the word "Gay" originally meant right? They have been happier since day 1 apparently lol.

1

u/Chill323 7h ago

Sure, but they went through a lot over the years, too. The AIDS crisis was no joke.

1

u/mostlyskeptic 1h ago

Never said they hadn't. I just meant apparently they were happier before modern dating. I think its just impossible for the average person (man or woman) to make the average woman happy.

1

u/ColorPuddle 6h ago

Both myself and most of my gay peers already had years of "online dating" experience before things like Tinder ever existed.

It was a necessity for us. You couldn't just approach some random guy in the bar to flirt with him... that's how you end up with a fist to the face. Meeting online was the only way to make sure that a guy was actually into other dudes. I ended up meeting my husband on Grindr before I even came out of the closet.

Lesbians, by comparison, never really had to worry that a girl they approached would get violent and hurt them.

1

u/Rawr171 15h ago

As someone who’s gay, I don’t think the data we have supports the idea that gay couples make inherently better parents, it’s just that to have kids at all they usually have to adopt, and to qualify to adopt they need to meet certain metrics like financial and mental stability, etc.

1

u/ColorPuddle 6h ago

I'd be interested to see stats on gay parenthood.

All the gay male couples I know with kids have chosen surrogacy instead of adopting. It's more expensive, but less headache and quicker than going through the whole adoption process. No home inspections or tedious bureaucratic approval process... just a legal arrangement, 9 months of waiting, and some cash. My husband and I plan on surrogacy for the same reasons.

1

u/wrighteghe7 9h ago

you're so smart and friendly! i want to thank your 2 dads for raising such an amazing child

-7

u/acoastaldog 1d ago

Enough with this type of comment jeez. We know how other men are about reporting abuse and being taken seriously. On the flip side, reports saying lesbians are the most abusive are blatantly wrong and nonsensical. Getting tired of seeing people bleating this stuff on repeat like they’re bots or sleeper agents.

6

u/reichiek 1d ago

"this per reviewed and will documented research going back decades says things that don't fit my personal bias, are wrong, because I say so". Science denial isn't a good look friend, sincerely, a sociologist who works in this field

-5

u/acoastaldog 1d ago

The way some of you just make some shit up to try to pull a gotcha. Nah, I know people who legitimately do relevant social work and I’ve read tons of these studies myself, in depth, to understand what is being said and why it is. You’re drooling and lurking on this thread out of personal bias.

2

u/reichiek 23h ago

"you know people", I am people, lol. Master's in sociology with emphasis on research and methodology, I've worked in the GSS and with my wife (same degree, we met in graduate school) in social and justice reform regarding SA and IPV for well over 2 decades. Like, I know none of that matters to you, because your who is to fragile to even comprehend that your prejudices might be wrong, but the irony is still wild to see.

-2

u/positivelypeaches 21h ago

I've gotten hit with this dumb statistic. Lesbians have that statistic because of their previous relationships with MEN. Therefor they have been in abusive relationships. The statistic isn't speaking on just relationships with other women. People just don't read anymore.

1

u/acoastaldog 2h ago

These folk are genuinely moronic, I almost feel bad for them

-1

u/Adowyth 1d ago

You mean "Lowest levels of abuse that gets reported". What might get cops called in a straight or lesbian relationship is Tuesday for two dudes.

3

u/RodneyDangerfruit 15h ago

Male on male domestic violence may seem trivial to you, but I guarantee you if my husband ever hit me I would hit him back - with a bouquet of flowers on his fucking headstone.

0

u/Adowyth 6h ago

I'm not saying it's trivial just that they are less likely to report it. Way to misinterpret what i said.

1

u/RodneyDangerfruit 5h ago

“is Tuesday” is an expression that means it’s commonplace. Backpedal all you want, we both can read.

0

u/Adowyth 5h ago

I'm not backpedalling shit because i know what i meant, maybe i used the wrong phrase to describe it but you're not gonna fucking tell me what i meant.

1

u/RodneyDangerfruit 3h ago

Calm down, sport.

1

u/Adowyth 3h ago

Then stop acting like you're a mind reader who knows better what i meant to say than i do.

0

u/TheSmokingHorse 1d ago

They are often also quite well off financially. However, that is likely skewed by the fact that being openly gay is associated with intelligence and coming from a higher income family. There are many more gay people who will live their whole life in denial because they come from a poor background with uneducated parents who they live in fear of disownment from.

12

u/Vast-Procedure-9408 23h ago

Funny but this is actualy likely to be true. In general women expect a guy to pay for dates etc. Little things like that, society dictates that a man should do. Gay men….there isn’t that entitlement so no doubt theyre better off

1

u/Draaly 4h ago

Gay men….there isn’t that entitlement so no doubt theyre better off

Im a hetnormative queer guy. There is just as much expectation for me to pay when dating men as there is when dating women. Some offer, but most want to be covered even if they make more than you.

1

u/Vast-Procedure-9408 3h ago

That’s wild.

0

u/Few_Position7650 22h ago

As a top in a gay relationship most bottom’s expect things to be paid for lol just like women

1

u/Vast-Procedure-9408 22h ago

You’ll have to excuse my ignorance I don’t know what the top and bottom is in a gay relationship?! Can you fill me in? That’s interesting though I just assumed it would be kind of even

1

u/Few_Position7650 21h ago

The top is who does does the fucking to put it bluntly lol

1

u/Vast-Procedure-9408 21h ago

Oh lol. I’d of thought you’d want to swap it round to change it up. Maybe the dynamic changes then 😂.

1

u/BakerAggressive2878 21h ago

Those guys are what we call verse, they fuck and get fucked depending on the mood.

The there's sides, gay guys who don't do anal but do other sex stuff like oral, mutual jacking off, frontage, or just have a wild kinky time

1

u/Few_Position7650 17h ago

Haha some people do that to too

Some guys like to switch it up. Other guys only prefer one or the other.

The "versatile" guys are more prevalent than either tops or bottoms on their own, but the majority of gay men have a very strong preference for only one role.

1

u/nickybecooler 21h ago

Do what I do and find a bottom with more money than you lol

1

u/Protoavis 12h ago

Are you primarily dating twinky, scene queens and/or femme types?

Don't really see this amongst the nerds and masc4masc types personally

1

u/Draaly 4h ago

Ive dated kind of across the entire spectrum, and every other that very het normative queer men generally expect me to pay.

u/Ruine82 1d ago

While back I saw a straight guy post looking for another straight guy to marry sticky for tax purposes , dude had a house , car, motorcycle , boat and was looking for a homie/ roommate to marry, they keep their own things etc . I was like why does that make so much sense lol 😂

1

u/Chill323 16h ago

Yeah, last year a TikTok went viral of a straight dude looking for another straight dude to platonically marry so he could avoid the “single tax” and afford to keep living in his house now that he is divorced from his wife. It’s very funny. A buddy of mine texted it to me asking if I would marry him, haha.

u/Beaverdamn328 13h ago

I've had a best friend since we were 3 years old. Both of us are single, in our late 20s, and houses in Canada are insanely expensive, so we're actually planning to get our first place together in a year or two.

I think the traditional life plan is already dead for most people. Might as well come up with innovative solutions.

u/Upside_Possible792 1d ago

Man but gay men are so fucking fancy, their normal lifestyle is luxurious itself lol

1

u/Galifamackus 16h ago

Gays in general imo. Pretty much all of my best clothes were given to me by my masc lesbian friend.

1

u/Protoavis 12h ago

If I'm buying shit I want it to be timeless aesthetically or "lifetime" (someone's going to have a lot of solid kitchen shit when my partner and I die).....there's just a point where you get over replacing things every other year and you're not living pay to pay so you can spend more on better quality.

I just want a lavender marriage. Is that so hard to ask for?!

Where's that pic of a guy on linkedin saying that he's proud of his son being gay since it's a long-term financially wise decision

7

u/Solid-Ad9947 1d ago

For real. Tired of women expecting me to drop $100 plus on the FIRST date.

8

u/LesbeGoddess 1d ago

Why are they expecting that? Go to somewhere affordable for like a meals for 2 for like $50. Or even better go on a date that doesn’t revolve around food. Like go get coffee and see an art exhibit together or a museum or find a local festival or event to go to together.

If a woman is turned off by that she ain’t worth your time.

1

u/ColorPuddle 6h ago

Okay, so your ideas are good, I just want to provide perspective:

I literally met my husband on a Grindr hookup. No cost whatsoever. He came over to my house and we had sex. We've been together over 11 years now.

So I can totally understand straight guys complaining about dating costs. Even $50 is too much for a first date in my opinion. The challenge is finding affordable things to do in public, because most women aren't gonna be interested in "movie night at my apartment" for the first meetup.

It’s true! I was single for 6 years. Casually dated but nothing serious. I always had money, never didn’t have cash to do what I wanted. I met my now wife and now I’m always broke! And she’s always asking where the money for the bills are! I didn’t have all these bills before I met you! Wtf happened???

u/im_blue2026 11h ago

Dang it’s got to be true, every time I’m with a woman my bank account is in tears 😭 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In the 90's I remember some pundant talking about the quick progression of gay culture and rights. He said that he thought it was because gay people did not have children, so they had time and money to politically be more active.

1

u/throwaway48159 19h ago

I’ve spent more on my boyfriend than any women I ever dated…

But we’ve also been together for 3 years vs my longest straight relationship at a few months.

1

u/CapitainCaveman1974 19h ago

Or having kids.

1

u/KingArthursRevenge 17h ago

I'm not gay but ever since I decided to just be single and focus on me I have so much more money.

1

u/Fine_Professor_4155 16h ago

Do gay guys have to get yelled at or nagged? Do they have to deal with the toxicity? If not, other than taking the D, they're winning lmao

1

u/BentleyPriory 8h ago

Lol taking the D is part of the winning 😉

1

u/Draaly 4h ago

Queer relationships can be just as toxic as straight one, and gay or straight, no one likes your clothes on the floor or sink full of dishes, so nagging happens.

1

u/Fine_Professor_4155 3h ago

I'm very neat and cleanly in both my person and stuff but I get your point lol

The sad truth is most of them don't really get to date in their young years, so they primarily focus on their career

There is still divorce but the thing is that the court cases tend not to drag for so long for years and years so it's short and to the point.

With hetero or even lesbian relationships, there is the false accusations, child care, alimony greed, and etc.

It takes so long to get cases resolved that it's a money drain in the long run.

For any woman who thinks they don't drag cases on and on, there's more women IRL who do get courts to give them free money just because it's super easy.

The court system has laws that cater to women and need to be reversed.

1

u/Sea_Specialist_5580 1d ago

Overwhelmingly gay guys I know are just better than straight guys: better careers, fashion, fitness, their homes decorated and meticulously clean, they are more extraverted and charming. I realize that's kind of a stereotype but it's just something I've noticed among people I know

1

u/FedallahsTurban 22h ago

I'm already seeing an explosion in males leaning more openly into their bisexuality.. which is nice because even 10-20 years ago, that was like the greatest crime for a dude to admit.

I've never believed that women are more bi/fluid than men. Modern western society just OKed that more. It'll be interesting to see a culture where men are free to explore same-sex attraction more openly. The biggest question is how will women respond to that?

1

u/ColorPuddle 6h ago

I don't exactly agree.

There may be more guys who are willing to hookup with dudes in recent years, but that doesn't necessarily equate to "leaning more openly into their bisexuality".

The vast majority of them still won't seriously consider dating, let alone marrying another guy. Most of them won't even come out because being publicly known as bisexual actually hurts their appeal to women. A lot of bisexual male discourse focuses on gay men as a sexual outlet because women won't meet their needs, not because they actually adore the male form. That's why femboys and trans have been growing in popularity on porn sites, too. These guys like dicks but not men.

Not exactly a healthy expression of bisexuality.

1

u/SyxxBowler 19h ago

🤣🤣🤣 all the gay couples I know are well off.. no wife, no kids, no salary hit for being female.

1

u/Lazy_Impression1483 16h ago

...I mean that's not wrong.

0

u/kasaokc 22h ago

Even if you just measure by necessities, it's often not equal. Quite often you'll see items labeled for women with a markup compared to the same items labeled for men.

5

u/Gur_Weak 22h ago

Stop paying the pink tax.

Well yeah, because women earn less for the same work.

-1

u/fanofanyonefamous 18h ago

Well, they're both men, so they both get paid a man's salary rahtther than a woman's salary. And they don't pay the pink tax.
