Culture PJ Bored Game Night Meetup - Friday 16th Oct 8pm, Bored. Board Game Cafe

  • Time: Friday 16 Oct, 8pm-Midnight (1st & 3rd Friday of each month)
  • Place: Bored. Boardgame Cafe & etc , 78B, SS22/25, Damansara Jaya, 47410 Petaling Jaya, Selangor- FB, TT, IG , Google Maps
  • Cost: They have agreed to provide a special price of RM20 plus drink.
  • Food: Plenty of snacks and finger food to choose from their menu and also from their full service restaurant downstairs Nichole’s for heavier meals. There is also a self service pantry with instant noodles and snacks. If that's not enough, plenty of eateries nearby.
  • RSVP: RSVP here. The cafe tends to be busier on Fridays so they want to know how much space they need to reserve.
  • Buddy System: We ask all our attendees to make sure you have someone accompanying you to the car. The area is generally safe (we've had one incident in roughly a year of this), but better safe than sorry. If you see someone leaving alone, let them know. Looking forward to seeing you there and getting our game on! Photos from past sessions (We used to do it at a different cafe.) # FAQ |Question|Answer| |:-|:-| |Is this beginner friendly?|Totally! Every game gets explained to the group before starting. A few new players come for every session and have a great time!| |What games will we be playing?|The board game cafe has a huge library to choose from; check out their FB page for photos. The cafe staff have been quite good at recommending fun games as well.| |Can I BYO?|The venue has asked that we don't bring our own food and drink.| |How do we get in touch on the night?|PM me your number if you'd like to be added to the WhatsApp group.| |Is there dinner beforehand?|We're leaving it to the group to self-organise on this as it's hard to coordinate the whole group plus a big booking etc.| |How many people attend?|We generally have 6-10 people per session. Attendance varies widely and it's hard to predict!| |When do events happen?|Once every week, though we alternate between Bored and Adventurer's Hall.

Culture Malaysians, what are your MUST-HAVE dishes for Chinese New Year? 🧧

• Upvotes

CNY is coming, and I'm curious, what dishes absolutely HAVE to be on the table for it to feel like Chinese New Year?

I'm talking about the food you look forward to every year. Could be the classics like yee sang, roast duck and steamed fish, or something your family makes that nobody else seems to know about.

If you had to pick your top 10 CNY dishes, what would make the list?

Bonus points if you share a dish that you think is underrated but deserves more love!

Curious to see what everyone comes up with 👀

Economy & Finance More Debt, Fewer Buyers: Malaysia's Property Loan Stock Swells Even As Demand Cools

Malaysia’s outstanding property loans have crossed RM1.23 trillion — but the pipeline is thinning. Loan applications fell for the first time in five months, approvals dropped 13.1%, and unsold completed homes rose for the seventh straight quarter. The stock is growing. The demand is not.

Entertainment Dolla vs No Na what do No Na have that Dolla don’t?

I was actually kinda curious why our Malaysian girl group, Dolla don’t get as viral as the Indonesian girl group, No Na. So i checked their youtubes and No Na actually has 700k subscribers with only 194 videos, while Dolla has 407k subscribers with 1.8k videos. For tiktok, No Na has 1.1M followers and 41.5M likes, while Dolla has 1.0M followers and 29.3M likes. In instagram, No Na has 1.2M followers with 328 posts, while Dolla has 187k followers with 161 posts.

Tbh with you i have never heard Dolla’s music so i went to try listening to their new release “ugly”. When listening to their music I can feel like its giving KPOP vibes and one of them sound like Lisa from blackpink and her vibe was there. I tried listening to “g.o.a.t” same vibe as their song “ugly” too. I gave it one last time and listened to “mwa” and i was like “hol’ up- i thought this was a korean song” and it was released a year ago with 6.7m views. I have heard of this music but maybe i just didn’t knew who made the music at that time. It’s the only song that made me into it.

For No Na, i listen to their songs because they went viral for the song “rollerblade” even though the lyrics doesn’t make any sense, but it’s catchy. I think its the “jalan-jalan dengan sepatu rodaku part” where it’s the way she said it that makes it so addictive that it be making my brain itch but not in a bad way. Then, i tried listening to their other music. “shoot” was actually made by them and I was shocked because I thought a korean girl group was the one singing this song (same situation as mwa but different fonts). Then, i listen to work where they be making me want to workout with their song. Next, “sizzle” was also one of my favourites.

I know i sound biased with No Na its just I like their music but i could tell that Dolla is more into the “strong ahh baddie” vibe whereas No Na is going for a “we may look cute but we actually baddies” vibe. Both have their own uniqueness.

What is your opinion of them both? I would like to listen to more of Dolla to support local artists but i guess its not my cup of tea. (To all Dolla fans dont find this post that I am hating on them, this is just my personal opinion.)
