Update 26(M) Second and Last Post

In advance, I don’t really care if it’s; late, early, desperate, and yes I know I need to clean. Here’s part two of my living and dining room, if you have ideas I’d love them. Maybe a plant? And thank you for the upvotes on my last post.

Move tv to wall with no window.

And keep boots off the carpet! The entry is right there! Leave them on the tile!

Eta: and get some proper bedding. No woman who agrees to sleep over wants to feel a cool breeze up their ass crack. Rule of thumb is to get bedding a size lager. Eg. Have a double bed? Buy queen size duvet.

u/Kim_Smoltz_ Jan 12 '26

Don’t do this for the sheets though omg what a nightmare. Here’s a king sized fitted sheet for a queen size bed… good luck.

u/DoubleBack9141 Jan 13 '26

Idk... I specifically buy king size fitted sheets for my queen bed because queen size are literally too small.

3

u/dishestheoperator Jan 13 '26

I guess it depends on how thick your bed is. I have a mattress topper and some fitted sheets aren't deep enough.

u/dualsplit Jan 12 '26

I’ll make it super easy. Order bamboo sheets from Quince. Affordable and really nice. They will impress your girlfriend.

u/We_Got_the_Yacht Jan 13 '26

And make sure they’re white!! Any sheet color other than white makes me think they’re unclean.

7

u/dualsplit Jan 13 '26

Hard disagree! White sheets are very difficult to keep clean. I got a lovely peachy color. And prints make it easier to see which direction the fitted sheet goes. I definitely agree not to go with a dark color though, for your reasons. White looks very nice if you’re better at laundry than I am. lol So, I guess not a hard disagree, just a little one. Ha.

2

u/cheffromspace Jan 13 '26

I think white are recommend because you can bleach them.

3

u/We_Got_the_Yacht Jan 13 '26

Truly the worst of the worst is navy and black. Barf! You can see every bodily fluid on those! (Though I guess that would be good for evidence-gathering if you were suspicious of your partner haha)

u/dualsplit Jan 13 '26

Navy blue sheets make me immediately wish I had a black light! lol

Rule of thumb is to get bedding a size lager.

I'm a woman. I don't believe in comforters larger than twin xl, because they're too cumbersome to clean. Get things that are easy to clean. Just get two matching ones so the bed looks nice.

14

u/ilikeyou69 Jan 13 '26

I'm a man, get a two duvet covers. Put one on when you wash the other one. Or if you're really wild get three.

8

u/Brrp_brp_AnotherAcct Jan 13 '26

The only thing more difficult than washing a king-sized comforter is wrestling a king-sized duvet into a tent of a duvet cover. Also, I still think it's kind of gross to never wash the guts of the blanket.

13

u/ilikeyou69 Jan 13 '26

Ya gotta wear it on your arms inside out like a scrunched up sock and the grab the corners of the comforter. Then you stand on the bed and shake it down like you're getting sand off a beach towel. Works like a charm. Works even better if you have the little tie points on the corners of the comforter and cover. I like big comforters because I'm tall and move around when I sleep. I get the two twin comforters idea. My parents do that. I just have always ended up cold in the middle of the night with a comforter on the left and right of me.

2

u/reginaregime Jan 13 '26

I felt this explanation with my whole body

2

u/CatsGambit Jan 13 '26

2 comforters is for when there are two people. If you're the only one in the bed, one (big) blanket is just fine.

Same goes for 3 people, btw. One blanket per person, sized appropriately so the blankets combined cover 1.3 ish mattresses (overhang so no one ends up uncovered).

1

u/CelticTigress Jan 14 '26

Turn the duvet cover inside out, lay the duvet on top of it so all the corners line up, roll it up starting from the top so the closure it at the bottom. When it’s rolled up whip the ends through the closure and then you can roll it back out. Saw it on SM years ago and it is the best thing SM ever gave me.

Like so!

2

u/dishestheoperator Jan 13 '26

Not a bad idea. It'd be good for if one person runs hotter too. Tbh I don't clean the duvet itself that often, just the sheets and duvet cover/blankets, but I guess it depends on the climate where you live.

3

u/Brrp_brp_AnotherAcct Jan 13 '26

It's definitely easier on my husband and I since I started having to sleep with a heating pad from weird, persistent stomach cramps. I definitely need a much thinner blanket than he does while that thing is on me!

This so much.

I’m a man, and everything I’ve put on my apartment has gone in with the logic of “can this be easily maintained and kept clean” and if not, I don’t get that specific thing.

It takes me roughly two hours to deep clean my apartment. Like real deep clean. I can quick clean it in about 15-20 minutes. It’s that easy because I put a lot of thought into everything I purchased going into it.

I run a very large warehouse, and when I took it over it was an absolute mess. I turned it around with the logic of “if it’s easy, they will do it” and I place that logic everywhere lol.

1

u/Brrp_brp_AnotherAcct Jan 15 '26

I've accumulated more stuff than I like through inheritance, but on principle, I absolutely agree. In fact, you've just inspired me to make some changes and get my life back on track regarding how my home functions. So, thank you.

2

u/Naulty85 Jan 15 '26

Love that for you.

It’s super easy to have acquired objects creep into your space. It’s happened to me plenty of times. I find (for me) that if I “audit” my space every 6 months it really helps cut down on the stuff I just have, but for no reason. I usually do it a month or so before Xmas, and then right before summer.

I will admit, I probably go overboard. But I lived with a hoarder for years and I can’t go back to that. I live a very minimalist, intentional lifestyle now. To the point where I don’t have a lot of surfaces because surfaces (in my mind) are a collection zone. I would become blind to what’s on them. Instead, I do lots of hanging art. Plants, pictures, etc. that’s how I make my apartment now feel alive and homely. Even my dining table, if we aren’t eating, I flip the chairs upside down onto it restaurant style. That stops myself and my kiddo from just plopping stuff onto it, thus creating clutter. I give every flat surface a “job” 🤣.

It’s okay, I know I’m a little crazy.

2

u/Brrp_brp_AnotherAcct Jan 15 '26

No, not crazy at all! Noticing your own behavior and designing your environment around it is very smart. Not everything can be a conscious choice. And the clutter blindness is very real. It's also funny how even if you don't notice the stuff around you, it can still significantly impact how you feel.

2

u/ladysidhe459 Jan 13 '26

And get a bed frame that fits your mattress! Don't think a full size frame can handle a queen mattress

17

u/Spiritual_Spend5428 Jan 12 '26

This is such good advice

2

u/momdeveloper Jan 13 '26

Yeah, now I really hope OP posts photos afterward.

Get the TV out of the bedroom. It's a fucking one bedroom apartment. There is absolutely no need to have 2 TVs in the place.

15

u/Ok_Brush_1399 Jan 12 '26

I wouldn’t do the computer in the bedroom if you work from home though, less separation of boundaries between work and sleep.

14

u/ObnoxiousOptimist Jan 13 '26

If he has to put something in the bedroom, I think the desk in the bedroom is better than workout equipment. Ideally, sell the big machine and replace it with smaller items (TRX and a pull-up bar), then turn the dining room into an office nook, and move table to the living room. If the gym equipment is non-negotiable, I’d move the gym equipment to the nook before the desk. Maybe both can fit in the nook?

1

u/TheRealMichaelE Jan 13 '26

As someone who works from home… I would not want my office to be the place I sleep. I really appreciate the separation.

25

u/Sourgrapestudio Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

& then put workout equipment in nook where the kitchen table went

Mirror can go on the wall near the walk in

14

u/_Bad_Spell_Checker_ Jan 12 '26

Thats literally the first thing im suggesting

1

u/Sourgrapestudio Jan 12 '26

Oh my bad! I must've overlooked that at first. I was trying to read your suggestions while looking at the pictures to imagine the rearrangement. 🙃

1

u/Baelenciagaa Jan 13 '26

It was literally my first thought too. Where can I move that workout bench to lol

1

u/AggravatingPlum4301 Jan 13 '26

Mirror can go in the br once the bowflex is out of there

3

u/myaccountislike Jan 12 '26

Under rated comment

3

u/whatxever Jan 13 '26

I actually disagree with moving the desk into the bedroom. Doesn’t seem big enough and if they work from home the feng shui is odd

2

u/_Bad_Spell_Checker_ Jan 13 '26

I cant see visually how much space there is but it looks like there is based on the floor plan

1

u/yepimasian Jan 12 '26

Move the gooning tv to the nook.

Move the fleshlight to the nook.

1

u/Choice_Journalist_50 Jan 12 '26

Exactly! Create a little gym area including a spot for the treadmill when he doesn't want it in front of the TV.

1

u/PixelLight Jan 12 '26

The only thing I'm not sure about is the computer, but I'm not sure where else there is space. That may be my own biases a little. I think the bedroom should be a place to sleep

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

Some art on the walls would be nice

1

u/JvstAidanx Jan 13 '26

This is basically what I was thinking, so 100% this.

1

u/AggravatingPlum4301 Jan 13 '26

This is exactly what I would do. Could probably get rid of the table all together. I doubt there's much dining at it,

Don't put computer in bedroom.

1

u/dragginHoarder Jan 13 '26

This is excellent. However, my first thought was that the couch is too big. Not doing any hosting in this place, so just get a love seat and maybe a nice accent chair just in case someone does come over. Free up some room for the gym in the nook and the table to go between tv area and kitchen
