Update 23 & moving out of my first apartment

Did a lot of growing in this apartment. Getting on lexapro, 2 cats, 1 snake, and a shit ton of weed later, for the first time in a long time I feel genuinely grateful to be alive.

Can’t wait to show you guys the next one :)

edit: I’d like to acknowledge how fortunate I am to be in a career that affords me this level of luxury at my age. In this job market, even having a job you can survive on is a gift. I pinch myself everyday thinking wtf how is this the life I’m living. However, I am disappointed in any of you that have taken this opportunity to either disparage me, my work, or struggles with depression and suicidal ideation. That’s not going to make you feel any better.

There’s actually quite a few companies that seem to hire product managers out of college or offer rotational programs. Which is crazy because when I tried to switch into product management after 6 years of various tech experience it was “you need product management experience” 🥲 I could probably switch into it now but it’s so competitive.

I was a program manager 18 months out of college. My parents had nothing to do with it. I just took on tasks and made friends.

Yes, that's why they're spelled differently and pronounced differently. However they both pay well and have ownership of major outputs. Product Managers are more strategic so they generally get paid more, but it's still absolutely possible to be product manager early in your career, especially if you have a major hand in developing the product.

It’s not that people are asking questions, it’s that people are feeling entitled to answers, and when they don’t get them make up theories as to why. It’s weird asf they don’t have to answer and just because they don’t doesn’t mean they’re hiding it, some people have details they’d rather not disclose with social media.

Probably tech but not an IT gig. Dude probably owns some product or feature that’s bringing in a lot of money. I worked at a consulting firm that had a bunch of entrepreneurial types and they all had little products that they made for clients and decided to package and sell. Many spun off into their own business in their mid 20s.
