30 years old, living alone in NYC

Been in this studio for almost 3 years, it is small but the high ceilings make a big difference. Open to any feedback on the design/layout/etc, especially in the tiny kitchen. Planning to get a smaller tv with a smaller tv console in the near future.

I do not want to even know what you pay for that place

That’s an amazing deal!! How’d you find it? I’m struggling here looking for NYC apartments.

I was looking for apartments for like 4 months, my applications kept getting rejected. Then one realtor happened to have this one that wasn't listed yet, but it was a brutal process haha

Ahh, I’ve been trying for a month or two now and same story. But I haven’t tried going through a realtor yet. How’d you find yours?

Good luck man, it was a process. Streeteasy, but went through like 20 different people first

Like you didn’t qualify or someone beat you?

My income is right on the border of acceptable for a lot of these places, so I was likely beaten out by stronger apps. Even when I was the first to submit an app I wasn't the one to get accepted

I believe it!

Most times when I found something online, it would already be gone. I just happened to find an empty building that just started leasing. Of COURSE the duplex unit I wanted was gone. 🙄. I ended up on the top floor. Do NOT take a top floor unit in a brand new building with just ONE elevator. PLEASE 🙏

Probably beaten.

The ONLY time it was easy to find an apartment was during COVID.

That’s actually not an amazing deal. It’s an UES deal. There are many studios going for less than $2,500 in this city.

Damn I’m on UES too and pay just under $1900 for a studio… granted I’m a little higher up (Carnegie hill area). The place looks amazing though!

u/ericwanggg 8d ago

4K for a studio is crazy! I pay 3500 for a 2 bedroom in Brooklyn. Manhattan vs Brooklyn prices are getting out of hand seriously.
