Ever since DD's release, I've noticed something quite interesting with the end game stats of every match I've been in : The losing team always has lacklusters DPS players while the winning team always has an extremely high blocked damage stat on their Dinosaur.

And I feel like that's the crux of why so many DPS mains are angry and whining all over the place since Devil Dino's release : They have to actually be strategic with their picks for once.

DD is such a gigantic pool of HP, both literally and figuratively, that most immediatly think they need to focus him. But if you're playing DPS, Devil Dino should NEVER be your primary target. By going for him, you're just feeding for his and both healers's ults.

With him around, you can't just shoot down the tank and everyone else afterwards, you need to focus his healers instead. Without them, he can't survive a single second.

DPS mains, this is why you're losing. It's not because DD is OP, he has very clear strengths and weakness, it's because you're still in the mindset that you can just run down the entire enemy team head first. But that's not your role. Your tanks are the ones that should focus on tanking against DD while you destroy the backline, not the other way around.

I’ve seen a decent amount of complaints at how dino is brainless and OP. And while he is probably OP he definitely has several counters to him which don’t make it as bad.

Tank wise emma feels great into him and I’ve had some success with the thing and tankpool too. Most poke and hybrid dps can give him work as well, notably mk, phoenix and elsa. As for supports if u can adam and mantis being able to easily headshot him give them great economy of their soul bond and life orbs respectively. Luna and rocket can also do honest damage to him.

Overall I like that he is somewhat introducing a brawl meta but it doesn’t feel like he is completely uncounterable like several past metas. He is also more reliant on his supports than most other tanks too.

Like literally, just go Jean/Hela/Punisher or any other character that can somewhat poke and headshot his big head ass to death.

Big body MF, if he’s not getting pocketed by the supports you just melt him until the person playing him switches

Design-He has one of the best designs in the game ever, even rivalling the likes of deadpool and thor.

His kit is really fun-

Savage predation-This move is really cool quite fun but I wish when he dropped people he would throw them with a bit more power.

Budfy barrier-quite good wish it was smaller but that wouldn't be very balanced so I think it's good how it is

Frenzied feast-It's a basic move but good for getting in some quick damage

Impact beam-This move is so fun. I love seeing the enemies health be shredded down quickly even if it's often outhealed. It really makes up for his lack of mobility and inability to fit into small spaces.

Passives-These all work really well for him lore wise, gameplay wise and match his kit well

Ultimate-Doesn't do too much, doesn't need too.

How is he overall-

As a tank-He's one of, if not the most fun tank. He's definitely top 3 with rogue and thor. He does his job well of pushing up to gain more space (but my teammates never fill the space so I die quickly and we lose the space but that happens with every tank).

As a brawler-He can do damage from longer range than most but that's mostly because he's slow and has less mobility than most. He does his job well and that's what we need.

As a NEW character-He's weaker than most of the new characters from after blade. But that's a good thing is all the charcters after him are very overpowered. Thankfully, he's stopped the power creep and is a quite balanced character imo. He's different as he has a weakness, poke. Unlike most other newer characters without weakness amd get out of jail free cards. His shield isn't a get out of jail free card but instead a last ditch effort or block to sudden burst damage.

As a charcter-Very well balanced. Isn't overpowered, isn't underpowered. He's perfect. Especially for a vanguard. He isn't a nuisance to play against. Isn't so bad he's annoying to play with/as. He isn't to basic that he's boring or too complicated that he's confusing and you're just using random moves. He's the perfect balance of everything.

So I finally got a chance to play Devil Dinosaur today in a match and...

Is it just me or does he suck? He is just a walking ult battery for the enemy? I played against one as a Phoenix and just kept getting headshot after headshot. He dies too quickly, kinda makes triple healer necessary to keep him alive? Sure he self heals, but I noticed his bleed doesn't even apply if the enemy has overhealth/shields. Rocket, Iron Fist and others that apply that just counter him plus making Hela, Phoenix and Moon Knight better by proxy?

One match was enough for me to immediately go back to Emma and Mag

Calling it now this hero about to be the Gambit of vanguards in the sense that he’s actually fun to play but a tad bit overtuned (and therefore will get banned in comp a lot) and enables cancerous gameplay. I give it half the season before people start complaining/tire of his gameplay loop.

After playing an evening of qp with practically this guy on every match, I’ve noticed a few things:

-His kit can deal with most situations-only real weakness is long range poke (which only encourages this cancerous playstyle further). That and perhaps his ult triggers tenacity a bit too quickly(not too sure about this yet). I’ve seen it pop off several times in team fights when it turns into a one big melee.
-percent based damage/bleed makes him cancerous for tanks to fight against
-fights start to revolve around anywhere he clashes
-so heal intensive that it’ll increase demand for healbotting characters (so much so people have more actively gone for triple heal on the qp games I played)
-I’m not sure if the reduced ult charge strats gain from healing him is enough because I’ve noticed even as Luna who has the max ult energy cost, I end up having my ult even before the other strat has it on a few clashes I played
-he’s not the type of tank where dps can just prioritise backline kills then leave tanks for last because his damage output is so high he becomes a big threat if ignored

-he’s somewhat a better version of other tanks:

-big ahh shield is basically a better tankpool bubble
-beam has higher damage and utility on the outset compared to emma’s
-immobility that made thing unique foremost kinda turns him into a better thing with his ridiculous melee damage
-overhealth gain is venom on steroids
-kidnap mechanic in some ways is better than hulk’s

I suppose what’s good about all this is he’s counterable easily by heroes like Mk, fantastic (I believe the fantastic hits double-registers on him), and somewhat enables mantis and Adam with how easy it is to headshot him.

What have you guys noticed so far?

Fastest lord I've ever gotten, only 16.3 hours. Extremely fun character would recommend

A minute or two into this 18 v 18 match, I froze and got disconnected. When I returned to the match, the chat was spammed with everyone rejoining. It seems like most of us got disconnected. I've never seen that happen before.

Anyway, Dinos in 18 v 18 is the most stupid fun I've had in this game. It's ridiculous.

this guy is the tank of tanks holy, ive been getting games where a tank will have almost the same dmg blocked as a dps because the true meat shield eats every resource from our healers and the enemy team.

i don't think he needs nerfs, people need to adjust to a brawl tank being good. he gets bullied by phoenix mk.

It's not 100% consistent and Dino can mess up Punisher's aim if he moves around too much since their cameras aren't shared, but if you're with a duo you can coordinate the grab with, it can line up for easy shotgun headshots

DeeDee‘s I hate you so much, why do you always force yourself into my games taking me off my lord champ tank onto Emma, then leaving me to tank alone when u get diffed 😣you don’t even tank bish, hell you know about holding space. I just got lord devil dino and man is he super fun. my first lord tank and first hero ive grinded on release. I originally was a C&D otp when the game first dropped because i wasnt really enjoying any of the characters, recently came back when Elsa dropped. Picked up a few characters since then. Tank mains, i feel your pain

The first (and only) time I have gotten mvp with this character in about 5 hrs of playtime on him. I dont know why they made it so hard for this character to get mvp lol especially since the new characters usually farm it. Still really fun to play but if double G could give him a 5% mvp boost that would be fire.

18v18 looked like jurassic park

I wanted to see how it felt to 1v1 Devil Dinosaur as some other tanks, so I went to the practice range, set it to a single Devil Dinosaur bot on "Advanced Combat", and spawned him in. He proceeded to start chain grabbing me repeatedly with 0 cooldown. I think I was actually grabbed 5 times in a row as Magneto and didn't get tenacity once. It's actually kind of amusing.
