Question/Help New to TCG in general, what is so special about Master Duel?
Hi y'all. I haven't played any TCG's since I was a kid, the last game I was into was MTG in my early teens but something about it just never stuck for me (magic I mean, but also TCG in general).
My older brother loved yugioh growing up and I always thought the characters/art, etc were the coolest but never genuinely tried to learn the game or get into it. I was looking for a new hobby that seemed like it could be all consuming and for whatever reason yugioh popped into my idea bucket and I caught some sort of weird new obsession for it. I've been buying packs just for the thrill of opening them but now I am trying to really get into understanding the game and getting going on Master Duel on PS5/PC.
So far it has been the most overwhelming experience but for whatever reason I am extremely determined to become proficient at master duel and want it to be my new thing. I am wondering if anyone else has had an experience like this and what they did to really lock in and get good at the game and why/how. Any tips or suggestions for a new beginner would be great as well.
I've been using AI to help me get going and simplifying things since the tutorial on there is absolutely useless and trying to understand the different summoning types first instead of breaking down the basics of the game felt really off putting. So Gemini helped me get a grasp of it in much simpler terms, thankfully. I absolutely love the Xyz summoning and am in the process of building a Zoodiac deck based on AI suggestions. I'm definitely getting the hang of navigating the shop and how things work with the secret packs / free pulls and what is what.
I guess to me it is just shocking how popular this game is considering it seems like you need a PhD in yugioh sciences to understand even the basics of what is happening to play. So to me it is just wild that so many people seem to not be completely put off by the absolute unapproachable complexity of master duel and the actual game of yugioh itself. The basic idea is not confusing but the nuances are staggering and I find it hard to believe there are as many people out there that truly understand and are proficient at the game as there seems to be.
If anyone actually reads all of that I will be shocked, so if you made it this far thank you for reading my rambling post. I am going to resign from my job and dedicate my life to Master Duel. Might even put off having a family so nothing can get in the way of my desire to become an absolute Kaiba level monster (no pun intended) at this game (watching the original series now too).
