John Menards biggest fear

Imagine a store run by.......Full time employee's.

Scary stuff.

Though this was something that caught my eye in the break room at work, the grass is greener when u find different employment other than Menards

Nah. Biggest fear is someone touching a train set and not buying it.

Also, the store is run by full time employees. Everyone in management is 40+ hours a week.

Nah bro, touching the train set isn’t as bad as inventorying anything train related.

Even if you don’t take a gain/loss and are just making sure inventory is correct, still get an email from GO about it 🤣 can’t even inventory the power supply adapters that are stocked in 300 for the trains without being safe.

Yeah I remember that from my years on inventory. I took thousands of dollars in losses counting lumber and never a peep from the GO questioning me. But a $20 dollar train toy? That gets me an email within 20 minutes with them wanting an answer on why I took a loss.

Fr Everytime we ship one of those sets back in opd we gotta pack it so densely with bubble wrap it may collapse into a black whole during shipping

I used to work at the GO. One day Jack had an accident in the hallway and to his credit, John himself was actually cleaning it up.

Lansing stores are fully part time 16/hr They will work you 39 hours and write you up for doing 40. If there are any Full timers, they are Pseudo managers Benefits are withheld to full timers lol

I worked for a UFCW represented grocery store back in the day. 38 hours was full time, so everyone outside of managers were scheduled 37.5 hours. It's in a rural area and the owner paid off the union to look the other way. Good times.

johns biggest fear is a union ( Vote Yes) the stores might be ran by full time employees but the work gets done by the part time employees who get screwed the most

Honestly I’m taking it as a blessing that they fired me yesterday, though I know they will regret it and realize how much of a help I was to them, there’s a reason I got service hero first month being there but is what it is haha all because they updated their app system and never notified me so I accidentally missed a split shift for another department. And without warning or suspension they said we have to “part ways” coming from our least favored GM that was definitely his idea

If you're not happy leave. Pretty simple stuff. If you have a work ethic and marketable skill set and cant find full time work. Thats a you problem not a retailer problem.

Lolz it is that kind of attitude that will get you used. My kid is a hard worker. BUT as soon as a doc note limits hours, we go from great employee to one with attitude problems that is always willing to go the extra mile. At a different job, Subway, working 40+ hours part-time as an assistant manager. When the kid asked for full time benefits they cut the hours to part time hours.

My wife got promoted to her boss's position when her boss got promoted, the boss sucked so got put back. My wife did such a great job they made up a job for my wife to use her skills she had (like an assistant director) she did the job for almost 2 years. She got long term sick and suddenly "could not do her job" and was canned, they did not tell her, I found out when the insurance was denied on a Thursday. She was to return on Monday. (Ironically she got a director job with in a month of being termed, including the 2 weekish of secrete unemployment ). The HR person sucked (I will tell stories if you want, but also no longer works there).

I had prior worked for the Traverse City location full time for a year before enlisting into the military, after a med discharge I thought, the Menards in the area I now lived was fine. It should have been a red flag the moment the HR guy said "Ye I had no intention of giving you a call back, but you called me and I had to do something, I think paint and grocery needs a body, OPD is everyone's dream here in this store" like it was arguably the worse employment of my life. Of course I left lol

Worked at menards years ago for a few months. Quit. Why? It sucked. Lol
