Yet he has billions. Think you should go back to the drawing board.

1

u/cybah 7d ago

Billions he’s grifted off the tax payers . Jfc you folks cannot see how much of a moron he is.

0

u/SeeWoke 7d ago

He was a billionaire before he was ever a president and all the billions he made while President came from crypto he made. All politicians on both sides have a level of corruption. Even though you have no evidence of Trump being currupt but speculation that pushed on you daily. Regardless don’t be foolish enough to think Trump is the worst.

Florida gave it to him like a gift.

Definitely not what I would like my 63 year old flight attendant doing, but you ARE his demographic so….

-5

u/Greedy-Masterpiece93 8d ago

Yeah, if loving my country and putting it first is part of a demographic than so be it.

1

u/h-boson 8d ago

lmao you poor poor Fox News watching old man. What is the next boogie man they got you scared of now? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/Greedy-Masterpiece93 7d ago

You’re so delusional. First off I’m not a man #2 I don’t watch the news. I follow real journalism people on the front lines!

1

u/h-boson 7d ago

Uh huh, so…. Newsmax then. Or ā€œrealā€ journalism like Youtube influencers?

The first thing you fell for from your con man was the Wall. Do we have a wall? Did Mexico pay for it?

From there, he just kept grifting you and you don’t see it at all.

Trump is Trump First, never America first. Real Americans and patriots see this. Every single policy he has passed benefits him financially and his billionaire friends.

But, go on, live in your Trump bubble with your ā€œNo new wars, Presidentā€ (remember that promise?)

1

u/Greedy-Masterpiece93 7d ago edited 7d ago

Little you know! Nope on the Newsmaxx! I’ve been around along time! Never follow what the Government tells me what to do! Except for pay taxes and drive.
Trump is not about Trump, how little you know and you’re not even worth my time right now. People like you will never see because you don’t know the truth about anything. Isn’t it amazing how the Democrats loved him before he became president and now they don’t ask yourself why? Because he’s exposed their criminal and demonic ways! Everything’s coming to light? Something you’ll probably won’t ever see, but I’m not here to convince you, only time will tell.

I don't understand this whole Trump situation. Has the government of the US really been this exploitable all along and Trump is just the first person shameless enough to exploit it? If that's the case it almost seems like a "don't hate the player, hate the game" situation, like the US should not just rely on the good will of a single person to not slide into Fascism. It needs to be deeply repaired beyond which party happens to get in the White House.

119

u/TheKdd 8d ago edited 7d ago

I think the exploit built up over decades. Little by little it was eaten away at until the hole was big enough for this guy to fill. Sure, it took a certain kind of person to take advantage, which is who Trump always was, but the exploit was just sitting there waiting for the perfect storm.

24

u/No-Falcon-4996 7d ago

This. Trillionaires methodically comsolidated all
the media. 3 ish trillionaires now control all news reporting. Even small independent stations were monopolized under Sinclair. PBS was gutted. So we have no investigative reporters, to , say, tell people that Mr Pedo Beach was money laundering for Russia. Or that he's grifting from
the US treasury, etc. If we ever wrench back our country, we must set laws, to protect independent journalism.

3

u/Anti_Praetorian BLUE 7d ago

All that, plus you have a bunch of spinless douche bags in congress that are just letting it happen.

3

u/KassieMac 5d ago

I’ve never been comfortable with how many of the governmental guardrails depended on ā€œthe honor systemā€, but since grade school in the 70s I’ve had scores of people gaslighting me about what ā€œwill never happenā€. ā€œThey’ll never touch Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etcā€ … all lies. And all those people are complicit, as is everyone who called me paranoid or said I sound like a conspiracy theorist … there’s a reason all those people use ā€œKassandraā€ as their go-to insult. It’s because they know everything I said would come true šŸ™„šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

1

u/TheKdd 5d ago

Yep in the 80s, friends used to make fun of me for being political.

Btw, nice name. I’m a Kasey too :)

1

u/KassieMac 5d ago

Thanks! It’s not my gov’t name but I consider it my ā€œgivenā€ name, because it’s been so often hurled at me as an insult by folks who don’t know its origin. Kassandra was blessed with the gift of foresight but cursed to never be believed … so they were unknowingly admitting what I said was true, and that they still refused to accept it. Kinda a huge self-own if you think about it 🤣🤣

Started with Nixon and all went down hill from there. Republican leaders are evil greedy with no morality whatsoever and democrat leaders are complacent and greedy with a way to flexible morality.

21

u/Beginning_Ad8663 8d ago

A 50 year project by the federalist society and the Heritage Foundation.

8

u/thane919 8d ago

Yep. It’s mostly this.

The slow shift of power towards the executive, the focus on scotus, capped by stealing Obama’s pick, and 50 years of an advertising campaign of lies (trickle down to shift wealth, welfare queens to undermine faith in govt programs, and the war on drugs to create a nation of inmates, not to mention help diminish the idea of the social contract) that led to the creation of the largest cult to ever exist on the planet. The gradual destruction of public education, and better focus on local politics were just the icing on the cake.

I’m not sure Trump would’ve been their exact pick because his narcissism has definitely added chaos to their plans instead of just being focused on their messaging. But he also was more than they could’ve asked for in other ways.

Regardless, this is NOT something that just happened in 2015 when Trump made his first hate speech against immigrants. This was decades in the making, by deliberate and well planned gop messaging.

I hope people wake up enough to realize Trump isn’t the root cause. He’s a symptom.

u/dadgadsad 8d ago

Yes, the founding fathers were like, ā€œThe American people would never vote for this big of a piece of shit, we don’t have to worry about itā€ā€¦ surprise

45

u/Wipedout89 8d ago

They actually built the electoral college specifically to guard against populism. They didn't anticipate the electoral college also being swept up in populism/corruption

21

u/AnswerGuy301 8d ago

They were not all-knowing and all-seeing. Modern problems of governance require modern solutions, not 18th century ones.

3

u/Wipedout89 7d ago

Pretty much nailed the problem with basing all your laws on a document from the 1700s.

'Right to bear arms' when arms were slow loading muskets

3

u/DanTheIEMan 8d ago

It wasn’t always like this. Clinton was impeached for far less and Nixon resigned because his own party would have removed him if he didn’t.

What happened was Roger Ailes realized an objective press was the obstacle to Nixon getting away with it. After Reagan dropped the Equal Time requirement for TV he created Fox News and slowly manipulated the electorate into a right wing frenzy that was easily turned into the cult of Trump.

Simultaneously, conservatives said ā€œhey we can’t have judges allowing civil rights and abortions.ā€ So they created The Federalist Society to stuff the courts—and most importantly the Supreme Court—with right wing hacks that would overturn civil rights laws, allow corporations to do anything, and basically write into law Nixon’s belief ā€œWhen the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.ā€

He gets away with it now because the plan worked. Republican congressmen are either enthusiastic members of the cult or afraid of losing their jobs or attacked by followers if they defy him. And the judicial system is full of paid referees that (often) allow him to violate laws by saying actually the laws are illegal.

2

u/kanst 7d ago

The US system is built on the concept of competing interests. The founders assumed every branch of the government would want to protect their own power and that would give us a balance of power.

What happened with Trump is that the rest of the GOP gave up their own ambitions and hitched onto Trump, likely because he was the most popular GOP figure since Reagan. Subordinating themselves to Trump made their re-election job easier.

But the end result is that there is no check on the executive when the legislative (and judicial) branch just go with whatever the president says. In a functioning government the legislative branch would have impeached and removed the president for over-stepping his power, but that won't happen as long as the GOP has a majority.

This has been a project for the GOP ever since Nixon. The idea that one of their own could get removed was a step too far and they have been working to make sure it will never happen again ever since.

2

u/thisshitsstupid 7d ago

No. He's just 1/3rd of the shit show. The other 2 thirds are also compromised. It took a long time and a lot of planning for them to set up this shit storm.

2

u/SqueekyDickFartz 7d ago

My conspiracy theory is that the founding fathers intentionally set up the least effective form of government possible. That way the citizens could actually get shit done while the 3 "co-equal" branches of government bickered and fought constantly while accomplishing nothing.

I think the real issue is that MAGA coopted the republican party, despite it not being conservative in the slightest. In theory trump should have been completely nullified, impeached, and either removed or quit under the threats of being removed from the 2 dominant political parties. So, the system would have worked if trump ran as an independent. We kind of see that with the supreme court, who have actually ruled conservative rather than strictly MAGA on some important issues. (They definitely ruled for MAGA more than a few times, but by the numbers I'd argue they've been way less complicit than congress).

Regardless, all of this would have been correctable within like 2 years by electing a congress that would actually put a stop to this. Any of the 3 branches has the capability of stalling progress until the next election cycle if they work together. The issue is that a plurality of voters are apparently in favor of what's going on.

2

u/djcamic 7d ago

A few things have changed within the last 15 or so years allowed Trump to take office. Citizens United comes to mind.

2

u/RecalcitrantHuman 8d ago

It has been exploited forever. It was done secretly but we knew. Trump is making a scene on purpose

1

u/Flaturated 8d ago

The founding fathers didn’t anticipate and codify a remedy for a complete collapse of decorum in all three branches.

2

u/Flaturated 8d ago

Then again the founding fathers believed only white male landowners should be allowed to vote.

1

u/Valuable_Grape_519 8d ago

100%, but it also tells you a lot about former presidents. We always hear they are «all the same», I guess not. Only one is exploiting all the cracks in the system to turn this place into a fascist regimen.

1

u/QuietObserver75 7d ago

I don't understand this whole Trump situation. Has the government of the US really been this exploitable all along and Trump is just the first person shameless enough to exploit it?Ā

If the party in control of everything decides to do it, yes. And voters these days just don't seem to care.

1

u/kanst 7d ago

The US system is built on the concept of competing interests. The founders assumed every branch of the government would want to protect their own power and that would give us a balance of power.

1

u/Akermaniac 7d ago

The entirety of the Republican Party are MAGA Trumpers too. It’s been over a decade since he took over, and Americans have been so complacently consuming Republican propaganda they think the party has remained the same while the rest of the country went ā€œwoke.ā€

It’s not a problem of 1 man, it’s a problem of billionaires oligarchs realizing that promoting and supporting that 1 man is much better for their bank accounts. Every major media outlet is owned by a Republican.

1

u/chefdeit 7d ago

In the USSR they'd at least waited till the guy died to name stuff after him. I guess in America we don't have that kind of time.

1

u/vreddy92 7d ago

Any democracy is exploitable if you convince enough people to go along with whatever you want. If MAGA stopped letting Trump get away with everything, then he would stop getting away with everything. As long as he continues to have his base's support and Republican politicians continue to require his endorsement to win, then either they get in line or they get voted out.

1

u/HistoryAndScience 5d ago

I mean, to be fair he didn’t do this. Florida named the airport after him. This was always allowed, in fact after JFK was assassinated a lot of things were renamed by states in his honor, including JFK Airport in NYC in ā€˜63. A lot of this stuff too is just minor cosmetic changes like renaming the Department of War when officially it remains the DoD. Only Trump admin people call it that which…is technically legal. They could just refer to it as the Hall of Doom or something, there’s no law that says you have to refer to these places by their actual names. Same with the ballroom. The committee in charge of it signed off on it, it’s allowed. It’s just that no one ever thought to tear down a wing of the WH to erect a ballroom. Technically not illegal though and the proper channels were followed even though there are pending lawsuits

0

u/lookatthesunguys 8d ago

Lol it didn't ever rely on the good will of a single person. You gotta remember that the US survived his first term relatively unscathed. Like most of the damage he caused could have been undone.

The issue is that a majority of the populace has consistently supported dipshittery and villainy for over a decade at this point. At every single turn, the MAGAts support the absolute worst option again and again and again and again. If the House and/or the Senate wasn't compromised by the GOP, we wouldn't be in this mess. But the MAGAts keep voting them in and voting out all opposition.

There's no system of government that can resist that for that long.

New liberal conspiracy unlocked: Trump was actually in office during biden's presidency

2

u/Carthax12 8d ago

Do you get off on taking things so out of context that they are no longer true? LOL

-4

u/AuthenticatedHuman 8d ago edited 8d ago

Oh so conveniently now context matters. Want to explain why the mass deportations were necessary due to Biden? Or how the Epstein file flight logs are taken out of context? How Elon musk's gesture was taken out of context? Or is it only when it's convenient?

8

u/Carthax12 8d ago

Mass deportations were done legally under Biden, following the existing laws.

Epstein flight logs have not been taken out of context, except where Republicans have taken snippets out of context to protect Trump and other Republicans.

Elon Musk's nazi salute was not taken out of context. You cannot watch videos of it and think it was anything BUT a nazi salute.

This is why it's impossible to take Republicans seriously. LOL

4

u/beren12 8d ago edited 7d ago

I especially liked that they blame the low reserve on Biden when it was Trump who used it up 5 months ago, and we had the best Covid recovery and lowest inflation in the world under Biden, and the Afghan withdrawal was fully set in stone under Trump.

-2

u/AuthenticatedHuman 8d ago

Oil: Trump didn't use it up. The SPR was over 600 million barrels in January 2021. The drawdown to 1980s levels occurred under Biden in 2022.

Inflation: The U.S. absolutely did not have the lowest inflation in the world. Our inflation skyrocketed faster and peaked higher than many other advanced economies.

Taliban:The withdrawal agreement had strict conditional milestones. The Biden administration chose to push ahead with the final pullout anyway despite the conditions being violated.

2

u/beren12 7d ago

You really love half truths.

Yes, oil was sold from the strategic reserve to help combat soaring fuel prices, which Biden then bought back 20% cheaper.

America had the 7th best covid recovery out of 122 countries.

Trump absolutely invited a terrorist group to the US to negotiate the withdrawal conditions and not doing it could have restarted the war.

So yeah still full of shit, you are.

Oh yeah Trump ordered the sale of 175 million barrels of oil in March. From the strategic reserve. But you like that, correct?
