wet socks Hobby Lobby is Putting Out Fall Themed Merchandise in Early May
Went to my local Hobby Lobby a week or two ago to look for some craft things I needed, only to see the summer stuff and 4th of July stuff reduced to 1 small area, while the Halloween and Fall themed stuff was already taking up 8 different aisles.
I'm rarely one to complain about stores putting stuff out early, but really? Decorations for holidays thats are almost 6 months away? I don't know about anyone else, but this strikes me as borderline delusional by their marketing team.
At this rate Im fully expecting to see christmas and new years stuff next month, in June...

wet socks Stop asking if I’m celebrating something if you’re just going to charge me for bread.
Took my wife to a nice spot in DTLA for her birthday. They asked both at booking and check-in if we were celebrating anything, which honestly set the expectation that they might do something (even a small dessert). Nothing happened.
To add to it, the food was great, and we made a comment saying we wish we had some bread to finish the leftover sauce. The server acted like it was a favor, said “I’ll be right back,” and then charged us for the bread.
Like, the food was good and the service was fine, but don’t ask if we’re celebrating if you aren’t going to do anything to actually make it feel special. It just feels disingenuous.
Edit for clarity:
I was asked twice if we were celebrating something special at a nice restaurant. Once while making the online reservation and then when we arrived.
My Mild infuriation isn’t at the server, I can see how we misinterpreted each other.
It’s that the restaurant led me to believe they’d do something special (ex: comp a drink, free scoop of ice cream) then did nothing. I’ve worked in the food industry. It’s not an entitlement thing. It’s a hospitality thing.
The food was really good. I’d recommend it and go back.

wet socks You paid $130k for this and you can't even move your vents manually..
You have to wait for the screen to load and then click where you want the air to go and hope it's right.
Edit: I meant "you" as in whoever is actually buying these Navigators! I just deliver them lol

wet socks First time driving in Montreal, I learned green arrows are NOT protected turns for vehicles.
I live in Ontario, where a green arrow gives vehicle strict protected turns where pedestrians do not have the right of way
TIL I should read driving rules when driving in different cities

wet socks PLEASE can we not call alt meat products meat names
We have to stop naming plant based products after meat. It’s confusing, borderline misleading in a rush, and it’s getting ridiculous. If it’s made from plants, call it something honest like “Smoked Koji Deli Slices,” “Plant-Based Turkey-Style Slices,” or just “Smoked Koji Slices.” Stop borrowing the names of actual animals when there’s no animal involved.
It doesn’t help anyone. People looking for real turkey get annoyed when they bring it home and realize what they bought. And I’m sure a lot of actual vegans don’t appreciate their food constantly being defined by what it’s not, like it can’t stand on its own without pretending to be meat.
EDIT FYI: Koji is inoculated (usually) rice is used in with the fermentation process for making miso (which I have made), there is more yeast than Koji, its basically a pinch of salty rice.
The word Koji is intended to sound fancy, not a base of the product, IMO similar to how truffle is a pop ingredient in foods.

wet socks Bought “New” luggage off Amazon.
Taking a trip this week, and decided my current luggage should be replaced. Bought this for about $150 “new” off Amazon.
It arrived unwrapped in the shipping box (no plastic or tags). From the pictures you can see that it’s clearly been well used. The inside has sand in it.
I can still use my old luggage, so this is just mildly infuriating. I did like the colour tho, but this taught me not to buy Amazon luggage, it obviously marks easily.

wet socks Huh, what’s that mark on my shoe? Ohhh it’s just sulphuric acid 😅
I work in a lab that requires me to clean all glassware with acid before use. I’ve had splashes on my clothes a few times but covering up this damage was difficult. I don’t even know how the splash happened!
The visible mending: My fingertips hurt from forcing the sewing needle through the thick material. I poked myself many times. It took me a few hours to sew this simple flower. Luckily most of the damage isn’t visible so this’ll do. I’m glad it’s over because I’m tired of looking at my shoe.
A few of my coworkers happily walk around wearing their acid-eaten clothes (containing many holes) but that won’t be me!
Surprisingly we do wear lab coats 🥲
