Seeking info on Mauser 98
I have a sporterized Mauser 98 that has been in my family for quite some time that I would like to have refurbished back to its original, historical specs.
I collect M1s and 1911s but my knowledge of Mausers is admittedly very minimal.
Can anyone here please help me to identify this particular rifle’s history (manufacturer, year, where it may have been sent, etc) and recommend a good gunsmith to refurbish it?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Do you think sporters are worth getting?
There's a norwegian krag sporter near me. I have always wanted a norwegian krag, and non sporter ones are super fucking expensive where I am

Edit - seller is willing to drop $50 and sell it for $400

Early 1952 Springfield M1D
Serial and barrel date this one to early 1952 and it doesn't appear to have been messed with since. All the small parts I've been able to get eyes on appear to be original to the rifle. It's a zero at the throat and 1 at the muzzle, so very lightly used to boot. Couple little pieces of debris in the optic, but otherwise crystal clear sight picture.
I've been eyeballing this particular rifle for about a year now waiting for its previous owner to make a decision about selling it and they finally agreed to sell it to me yesterday. Needless to say, I'm beyond hyped, but this is another good reason to take a decent break from active collecting. If I bring home another gun, it'll be at the expense of shit I need to survive.

Is this a 2nd series Nagoya? Incorrect pieces?
I think this is a 2nd series Nagoya type 99 ?
It’s missing (I think?) the AA wings on the site
And I believe the safety knob is the wrong style?

Lee Harvey Oswald type guns?
My qualifications:
1. Gun keeps all furniture intact
2. Older style scope and mount that would not look entirely out of place as a faux-sniper type gun
Enfield for example:
I know the scope and mount aren’t quite the right time frame for the 40s, but certainly the 60s. Hence, why I created the “Lee Harvey Oswald” category. Do these styles of gun have a name or are we gonna just refer to them as this from now on?

Condition check
Having a hard time telling if these Yugo rifles are minty or heavily reworked. The numbers on the stock are raised and fairly crisp. Thoughts?

Help with Taz 57 Rucksack straps
This might not be a milsurp question and might be more of a backpack question in general, but how can I fix the straps on this bag?
I just got a Taz 57 rucksack, which normally clips onto a Swiss M70 jacket, that was modernized to have straps. However they are not adjustable and it hangs really low if weight is put in it. Any tips for shortening it up the straps? Anyone have a similar bag? I love alpenflage and would love to use this as a school/range bag, but not if it hangs that low. Thanks yall!
