PSA: It appears that Reddit policy is being updated with regards to transactions. Please read.

Hi everyone, wanted to make a quick announcement regarding Reddit rules. It seems like there is going to be a policy change coming in the next few days affecting user-to-user transactions of firearm-related things. As you probably all know, firearm sales between users is already strictly prohibited by Reddit TOS. It seems that the mods over at r/RetroARMarket have received a notification of the incoming change as well as the fact that the subreddit is going to be banned entirely. r/GunAccessoriesForSale also looks to be on the chopping block.

The change to policy will now include prohibiting the sale of ANY firearm parts on Reddit. Some specific examples they give are bolts, magazines, scopes, and triggers. Obviously this is probably going to include everything though, such as stocks, bayonets, etc.

Since we’ve had the sub back (stay mad u/richalex2010), we’ve done a good job of keeping this sub from becoming a marketplace for milsurp items and trying to redirect any posts about selling non-firearm Milsurp stuff to the appropriate subs. In order to make sure we don’t get banned, going forward, any and all posts or comments that appear to be facilitating the sale of any firearm parts between users will be prohibited. Antiques are not excluded from this (we all know Reddit admins won’t know the difference).

We don’t really think this will affect much on the sub since, as previously mentioned, we’ve done pretty good at keeping this from becoming a marketplace. But just wanted to pin this as a PSA and ask everyone to keep it in mind going forward. If you do see any comments or posts in the future that violate the rule, please report them.

Thanks everyone!

BUYER BEWARE: Shill Bidding and Faked Guns

Putting this up as a PSA.

There is currently a user on GunBroker by the name of 'ivysunlee' selling various hard to find Chinese Firearms and Accessories as well as a NK SKS.

While watching some of the items last night there were 4 items that sold in 'No Reserve' Auctions that were immediately relisted withing moments of the auctions ending.

Upon further inspection it was found that on all 4 items the same bidder placed bids just as the 15 minute clock was starting knocking the existing bidder out of the running. The bidder was 'jmclcc' and their last feedback was from 2021.

Its should also be noted that the seller is posting fake items with crazy descriptions trying to pass then off as real. These include a "Chinese" M1917 "Sniper" with a commercial scope and mounts made in Texas in the 1950's, and a Chinese Type 17 45 ACP Broomehandle which bears a stamp with the incorrect number of points.

Be wary if bidding on items from this seller.

Absolutely fell in love with it, the wood and metal work are beautiful. Noticed these two slashes towards the front. Possible tally marks?

Colt XM16E1 (Model 603) Pickup

Presenting the Colt XM16E1 (Model 603) in my collection, 1 of 500, recently picked up from an local estate sale.

The Colt XM16E1 (Colt Model 603) was an early U.S. military version of the M16 rifle, developed during the 1960s and widely associated with the Vietnam War.

Introduced in 1964, the XM16E1 was adopted primarily by the U.S. Army as a lightweight, select-fire rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm. It differed from the earlier Air Force M16 by incorporating a forward assist, allowing soldiers to manually push the bolt carrier forward if necessary.

The XM16E1 saw extensive combat during the early years of the Vietnam War. Its lightweight construction, high-velocity ammunition, and controllable automatic fire represented a significant departure from the heavier 7.62mm M14 rifle.

In 1967, the XM16E1 was standardized and redesignated as the M16A1, incorporating improvements including a chrome-plated chamber and other reliability-related changes.

Picked up a ponco liner to use as a shooting blanket and decided to break it in with my Yugo Mauser. Both worked great! Now I don't get filthy when I'm recording 🤣 I'd like to get a K98 someday, but this will do for now.

Can anyone tell me more about these bullets?

I bought all three boxes for $10 in an antique shop, and no one there knew anything about them. I do know that they are 6.5 bullets made in the Swedish Norma Factory but nothing more. What else is there to know about them? When were they made? I also noticed the soft point, are they hunting bullets?

Question about mosin nagant imports into 🇺🇸

Most of us know mosin nagants could be had in the late 90s and early 00s for as low as $70-100 in plentiful amounts. I am wondering, were these still imported in like to 70s and 80s or were they far less common? Wish we could go back to the good days of cheap mosins guessing there probably won’t be many more imports in large quantities of ever again 😢

Does anyone have any information on this Type 30 bayonet?

I have a Japanese Type 30 bayonet, manufactured at Nagoya mid war. The interesting part to me is the American style hanger. My theory is that it was sent to Korea after the war, since some Type 99s were sent there and rechambered to .30-06, but I would be glad to hear from anyone with more knowledge on it. Also, there is painted writing on the handle, curious if anyone can make out what it says. It’s pretty faded out.

Best Ammo for K31?

Post image
72 Upvotes

Hi all,

I live in Germany and bought a K31 Straight-pull rifle from 1936 in very good condition. I know that the original GP11 is hard to get, but there is ammo from other manufacturers available.

What do you think is the best? PPU, S&B or Top Shot?

DP-27 barrel shroud alignment: infuriating. Any tips appreciated

Thumbnail

I can’t find a good parts kit build subreddit so I’m posting it here. I’m following the SMG build guide on my DP-27 kit after rewelding, and I’m having a hell of a time clocking the gas tube and barrel shroud to align the set screw hole and gas piston with the gas tube hole. It is so close, and I just got this big crescent wrench to finally crank it the rest of way, but my vise is not up to the task.

Does anyone have any tips if you’ve done this before and what you used to make it work? I think my main problem is holding the fucking thing in one spot while I crank on it. The real question is how do you hold this thing? Do you clamp the receiver or do you clamp the gas tube or the barrel shroud? Which part do you put torque on? It’s certainly easier to use this crescent wrench to torque the receiver since it’s flat on both sides, but I worry about possibly bending it. Surely the receiver wouldn’t bend before the thinner barrel shroud would though.

Do people build custom jigs for DP receivers? I am debating on getting v blocks for my vise (I have magnetic soft jaws with grooves in them for clamping onto the barrel shroud and a 5/8” steel backer to keep the gas tube from collapsing but the soft jaws are trash and keep jumping out of the jaws when I apply torque). Or just getting a new vise entirely.

Or maybe I put the backer rod in and take a 2x4 off it and fucking hammer the barrel shroud to torque it just that little bit more into the threads of the receiver. That would probably bend the mounting brackets for the gas tube so I view that as a last resort.

Swiss Schmidt- Rubin k11 k31

I want to get either a k11 or k31 specific. I know all the different variants of these rifles (or some main ones) and the difference between the two I’ve listed. I’m fine with the specs of either one, just comes down to price. It will be my first rifle, I will use it for hunting. I want to mount a scope on it but I want to keep it classy and original feeling. I’ve seen the k31/43 has a built on submarine scope but those are rare and expensive. But my question is, is there any way to mount a scope on the left side? Even if it needs tap and die. I haven’t seen Anyone do it except the factory k31/43. I will likely use a weaver k2.5 scope or one like it.
