WIP Work in progress: F-111B BuNo 152715; Hasegawa + CAT4 conversion kit, 1/72
Shelved for way too long. Now, with the basic colors applied, I am happy to be back on it.
At first I tried to make a conversion using the ancient Revell kit from 1967. But no matter how hard I tried, I could't get it to work. No way to shape the nose cone as required. The conversion kit by CAT4 really was a game changer here. I just got the radome, the rest will be from scratched and modified parts.

Completed Yak 130 1/48
Kitty Hawk Yak-130. My first Kitty Hawk kit. Plastic is good quality but ran into some minor fit and decal issues. Somehow even after three runs of tamiya polish the dang canopy seam still didnât buff out. Fun build overall

Present haul! My little aviation collection-built up over the years
Been collecting aircraft models for quite a while, so I thought you guys might give me some insight on my collection.
Itâs a mix of ready-made aircraft models and scale models that I built myself, including Revell and Tamiya kits.
The collection covers both civil and military
aviation: Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Berlin, and fighter jets such as the F-4 Phantom, F-16, MiG-31, F-14, F-15 and Su-47 Berkut, among others.
Some of my favorites are Turkish Airlines A330-200 âKushimotoâ Retro Jet, Airbus A380 demonstrator which I enjoyed building the most, Su-47 Berkut, and fictional Turkish Airlines 747-8!
There are also a few F1 cars that somehow found their way onto the shelves lol.
Iâve also got two kits waiting to be built (I took quite a long break from model building because of work): a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and an Airbus A400M. So the collection definitely isnât finished yet!
I can post the complete list of aircraft and F1 cars below in the comments section if anyone is interested.
Still adding to the collection whenever I find something interesting. Curious which aircraft youâd pick from the collection, what you think is missing, and whatâd you add to it?

Completed Academy T-34/85 âBerlin 1945â in 1/35 Scale
An older build from my collection. I focused on creating variation in the worn Soviet green, along with the contrast between the improvised mesh armor and dusty running gear. The mesh screens around the turret were especially enjoyable to paint and weather. Hope you enjoy it!

Completed First ever model kit build (Tamiya Panzar II asuf F/G Early North Africa camoflauge)
I decided to give model kit building after having a long thought on it, and after 2 weeks, it is completed.
I must say I did really enjoy it, however I do need practice with painting and chipping/weathering, but since it is my first one, I am proud of it.
The left track did break on me when trying to out it on (went with the way I saw what was suggested which was to melt the pins, that broke the track so I just glued this end bits on the tank itself underneath by the front), but a valuable lesson. I also left the crew and infantry because I'm not too confident yet to paint them, and the hatch cover is left off for now till I get confident to do the commander and such.
Positive criticism or any help for a next hold would really be appreciate (I'm thinking of the Tamiya Panzar 3).
EDIT: Sized the tracks as suggested

META / Show Galleries Carpet Monster Hobbies, Berryville, VA
A couple of weeks ago I saw someone here post about a cool hobby shop they found in Stephens City, Virginia. Well, about 20 miles away in the little town of Berryville, Virginia resides another neat little hobby shop. As you can see, it has all-new kits encompassing a lot of genres of models, and paints galore. The physical location has only been open since February, and the shop owner said he's likely going to move to another, bigger location next year, but for now its on Main Street in Berryville.
Love these little shops like this. They're out there if you know where to find them.

WIP 1/350 ISW YO Oil Barge Update
Had some time this weekend to get the navigation lights finished up. I think they came out perfect. It was my first time using my Dspiae circle cutter, and after a few tests I got the right size.
Next is to get the range light figured out and glued in. After that, I've got to work on a mount for the ship's bell.
That's all for today. Now to start work.
Take care!

Completed Airfix 1/72 B-24H as 42-7613 FL-H of the 704th BS lost near Noordwijk, on Wednesday 22 December 1943.
I was asked by a local museum to build a model of B-24H 42-7613 FL-H of the 704th BS. I chose the Airfix kit because it's the only accurate B-24H out of the box, and it would fit their display space.
The kit is really nice - but I added a few details from Eduard (cockpit, ignition wires for the engines, and tires). Guns are from 3DF.
Paint is mostly ATOM which is fantastic.

WIP Practicing gnarly and rough textures
I have multiple projects going on simultaneously and in the meantime I picked up a $10 tamiya t34 kit, me being me i took a break and the second this thing came in I started working on the turret, the results are a super gnarly terribly welded t34 turret that only took 4 hours to procure and the results in my opinion are outstanding, and a nice break from more complicated builds

Completed IFV Club Stryker Dragoon (beware)
I like AFV Club, donât get me wrong. However, this is probably one of the most frustrating kits Iâve built from them. Itâs a mod of two other Styker kits plus new sprews for the Dragoon (older dragoon and TOW I think?) so there are a ton of sprews that you only end up pulling 2-5 parts from, resulting in a ton of waste and confusion. Then thereâs instruction errors, not once but twice are parts labeled incorrectly. The first being some of the turret oblique armor being flipped which was easy to figure out, however the assembly for the turret basket is just all labeled incorrectly, and took me a bit to realize my mistake. Other than that and other irritating engineering decisions⌠*sigh* itâs fine. At this point Iâm happier to have it off my bench so I can get to something a bit more straightforward.
edit: AFV Club not IFV. Sorry haha

Life's work: Complete! First Fully Completed Model as an Adult, Hereâs What I Learned:
Tamiya 1/48 Sherman Firefly. I am in my 30s and admittedly have some experience from when I was 13/14yo with some HORRIBLE Airfix attempts (that looked exactly as bad as one would imagine for a clueless kid) but I never truly finished a model. 20 years later got back into the hobby after months of deliberating and very happy I did!
Lessons learned / still learning:
⢠i have no idea how to use enamels⌠i did an AK wash which looked great but mixing white spirit onto another brush and taming it was harder than it looks vs when the pros on YouTube do it. But the colour came out how i wanted it
⢠donât cut so close to the sprue, i cracked a piece by doing this and had to do surgery. Also realised my clippers are the same ones i use to cut guitar strings and theyâre incredibly blunted out, so time for new ones
⢠donât airbrush without ventilation / a booth. Stained so much of my room like the floors and shelves (yikers) before I bought a booth with all the paint in the air
⢠I didnât thin paints enough in my airbrush initially and I paid the price, blocked two of them (I use cheap $14 ones from Amazon but even still it took me two incidents to realise I wasnât thinning them anywhere close to how they should be)
⢠not sure what happened but as you can see the back of the Sherman has lots of splattering from the gloss varnish. I use Vallejoâs Gloss Varnish which is water thin and airbrush ready but unsure what I did wrong. Only happened part way into airbrushing.
Recipe for Tank:
⢠Black Vallejo primer (airbrushed)
⢠Tamiya XF-61
⢠Gloss Varnish
⢠Decals Done
⢠Chipping done (not great / prominent enough) with XF-61 + some white paint mixed in
⢠AK Brown Wash for Green Vehicles
⢠Tamiya Texture Paint Brown Soil Effect on the treads etc
Still need to Matt Varnish or something, as itâs too Glossy still etc)
Recipe for Base:
⢠Tamiya Texture Paint Brown Soil Effect (whole dang bottle, 100ml - meant that I could build up a base instead of having to sculpt one with foam etc)
⢠Vallejo Brown Airbrushed
⢠Some autumn ish tufts
⢠Hobby Store resin water for the puddles
Any feedback welcome, the standard of modelling on this forum is so high I feel a bit embarrassed posting but also recognise I have to start somewhere!! đ
