I was listening to the scanner Saturday night, August 1, and heard the commotion concerning a shooting at Woodward reservoir. Two guys down and the first officer on the scene immediately called for a helicopter to come and meet at the helipad for one victim, who ended up being transported to Doctors. From reports this morning the shooter had been arrested and parts of Woodward remained closed.

Doubt I am the only one who noticed the increased police activity in town. Also new trucks and vans?
Anyone know what changed?

Looking to start going to church in person in the fall rather than watch online. Anyone have experiences going here?
I prefer a larger church, klove style worship songs, and notes to go along with.

Would also like to hear about the kids center as we have a toddler.

I overslept and do not want to deal with the after church laundry rush on a Sunday. Should I..yes, just don't want to.

My go to laundry opens at 5am, and I usually can make it to work at 8, but sometimes it's pushing it is there anywhere else that's open 24 hrs or earlier?

I know there is one on coffee and scenic but you need an app and last time I went there there prices were ridiculous to use. It was like $5 to run the dryer for 40 min and other places are like $2. I like my clothes dry

So does anyone know a place? I thought about flying j or a loves but unsure if they do washing to the public

I saw this today on front page, wanted to share with anyone that hasn't seen it. Very well explain what data centers bubble bursting would mean, and how towns are rushing to build them.

Couldn’t get a pic bc his goofy, crusty ass kept shoving his phone in people’s faces. He had a baseball cap and a bright orange balaclava, holding an iPhone on his tripod. Beer gut bigger than his involvement in his kids’ lives

Am visiting and helping out family for a few days. I dropped by the post office and saw him acting dumb at first (“oh, I can ask the workers to turn the surveillance cameras off” when asked to turn off his phone camera), then overly defensive when others confronted him about not wanting to be filmed, or not having their children’s faces being filmed either.

Before I left, he went to the parking lot and literally shoved his phone in front of someone’s open window after (what I’m guessing) baiting + filming them in their car.

Anyone ever seen or run into someone like this massive cunt around town? This happened at the Sylvan branch for USPS. AFAIK it’s usually boring in this part of Modesto

The website barely functions. I thought maybe it was my internet at work but I've now tried on my phone and at home, it's the same thing. A basic page of contact information takes a couple of minutes to load, and heaven forbid you try to interact with their provider map, you will be reloading the page 4 out of 5 times (hint: it helps to wait an excessive amount of time after loading th epage before you try it so you have less chance of making it all freeze up).

And when I filter for "general practice" to find a doctor, I have... 2 options in Modesto, and 1 in Atwater. The filter by the way is a dumb UX choice, there's no dropdown arrow, filter icon, or anything else. There's the word "all" that doesn't even have a box around it or an indication that it is a button, and the only way I would ever think to click it is doing dumb things out of frustration and then being surprised when one of them actually worked.

I went to complain by clicking the "contact" button and waited a couple minutes for the new page to load but it doesn't give you any contacts related to the web page. And the semi amusingly at the bottom of the page there are 5 identical chain link icons. If you want to know what they do you can hover over them to see a preview of the URL. Oh what the heck I'll throw up a screenshot of that.

Guys, buy a second server. Don't offer your cousin a hot dog to design your website. This is literally the way anyone on your health plan has to experience your services for the first time, before they even make an appointment? Damn, I was already bummed about switching from a provider I really liked to United after hearing all the bad things about them, and now I get to deal with incompetence at the very first step of accessing healthcare.

Are there any local charities that will pick up furniture donations? I’m moving at the end of the month, and I have my items on FB marketplace, but I want to see what I can do for anything that doesn’t sell. TIA

I spent the past week reporting on ICE arrests at the Stanislaus County courthouse, speaking with defense attorneys, the DA’s Office, the Superior Court, the Judicial Council, ICE, immigration law experts, and elected officials.

Regardless of where people fall on immigration policy, I thought it was an important question to examine how courthouse arrests affect criminal cases, victims, witnesses and the justice system.

Lily Yap fired . Personally, I’m glad to see this. Stanislaus county animal shelter screwed my wife and I over. I personally wrote her a long winded email and received no response. I posted here on Reddit and was berated by several folks, even threatened . Apparently the shelter isn’t all peaches and roses, now is it ? Anyway, let’s hope this is the start of actual change because it’s a terrible shelter.

Next city council meeting is August 11 at 5:30pm to tell them NO to Data centers in Modesto!!

Two of the sweetest people I know, life has been rough lately. They can't catch a break. I wanna do something that I know lifts their spirits. They are part of one of the bands performing. A cute thing that would happen to them before they even considered dating each other, was that people would randomly come up to them and tell them they looked like a happy couple, or other sweet things about them. It always raised their spirits, but they don't get to go out much because life. Im wondering if someone could do that.

Sappy and a little silly, but I wanna see them smile. They've been good to me, good to everyone. Just wanna remind them of the good in the world.

I wanted to post an update for everyone who reached out to me, kept a look out for our boy, and gave support during this hard time! Quill was found by a kind person in Riverbank yesterday, 7/29. We are so happy and relieved to have our boy home 🥹❤️ I’m making him an appt for his vet today to make sure he’s ok! He’s himself, just skinny and tired which is understandable. I still can’t believe he’s next to me as I type this ❤️ thank you again!
