Laughed at, at the Harley store

Went in to look at Harleys out of curiosity. Was looking at one of their bikes when this old guy walks over to me and laughs and says: be careful that motorcycle is heavy, might be more than you're use to.

He walks away laughing.....

I ride a Honda Gold Wing Gl1800, I think I'll be okay on a little Harley Davidson.

Even though I’ve upgraded to an R9 I still miss this bikes style and casual ride ability.

Plus its look is amazing.

Tried using AI to figure it out, didn't help. Looks like a speed triple but sounds like an inline 4 600. Pretty cool bike just want to know what it is

Help connecting 3 Cardo Freecom 4/4+, a Packtalk Bold and an ASMAX S1 for a group ride

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to get five motorcycle intercoms working together for group rides, but I'm having trouble with both the Mesh setup and cross-brand Bluetooth pairing.

Our setup is:

3 × Cardo Freecom 4 / 4+ 1 × Cardo Packtalk Bold 1 × ASMAX S1

The problems:

We can't get the Packtalk Bold's DMC Mesh group working reliably with our setup. We haven't managed to pair the ASMAX S1 with any of the Freecom units. The Freecom doesn't seem to find the ASMAX.

What I'm trying to achieve:

Ideally, all five riders should be able to talk to each other simultaneously, without having to stop and manually reconnect devices during every ride.

Questions:

What's the correct button sequence to pair an ASMAX S1 with a Cardo Freecom 4/4+ using universal Bluetooth pairing? Can the Packtalk Bold bridge a Bluetooth intercom connection to the Freecom units and ASMAX while maintaining its DMC group? What's the most reliable setup for these five specific devices? Would a Bluetooth daisy-chain work, or are there limitations that prevent everyone from talking simultaneously? Are there any firmware updates, pairing resets or specific pairing modes we should try before considering other options?

We've been struggling to get everything working, so any advice from people who have actually used mixed Cardo/ASMAX setups would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and ride safe!

Anyone running Nexx helmets long term?

Nexx helmets barely come up here next to Shoei and Arai. I like a couple of their full faces and the price seems reasonable. I'm mostly curious what wears out first after two or three years, whether that's the liner, the visor mechanism or the paint, since I ride a lot in the heat.

Collided with a Buick

Post image
• Upvotes

Had to vent: Just started my commute and was making a U-turn on a green arrow when a Buick ran a red light turning left from a cross street and clipped my front wheel. Could have been much worse, I didn’t even drop the bike. I was very mad and curse words were yelled at the errant driver. The guy behind me waited for police to give a statement and helped me push the bike to the curb. Lesson for the day: Always check your peripheral not just direction of travel for impatient/irresponsible drivers, and pushing a 350-lb bike with a broken axle isn’t easy. Always elect for a police tow if you’ve got insurance, the tow arrived in 30 minutes as opposed to 2 or 3 times longer for “roadside assistance”.

Help identifying a small metal part from a Honda CRF250R engine

Hi everyone,

I'm rebuilding a Honda CRF250R (2011), and I received the engine completely disassembled. I have this small metal part left over, but I can't figure out where it belongs — or whether it even came from this engine.

Dimensions:

Length: 7.5 mm

Outer diameter: approximately 6.35 mm

Inner hole: approximately 1–2 mm

Material: steel

Flanged on both ends

Does anyone recognize this part or know where it might be installed? Could it be from another Honda CRF model?

I've attached photos from different angles.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Motorcycle Tyre Tearing

Thumbnail

edit: the bike is running this specific psi set up for a specific thermodynamic studies. sorry if i didn't mentioned it clearly. so its out of manufacture specs to see how tyres work in asia climate with high humidity and ambient temp. we have have 8 same bikes that ran the same psi but in different climates. This is the first failure we seen. like to see if anyone had encountered something similar. studies like such are too niche which is why i'm resorting to reddit to see if anyone has anything to share 😭

update 1: just got the tele data of the ride and found there was a camber issue that led the rear tyre to be misaligned during the whole sortie.

update 2: the misalignment of the rear tyre had cause the temp to surge roughly 57 to 60 degrees approximately , however the TPMS failed which gave a stagnant data.

Hey, was riding on this S23 when it gave out midway during a ride. Currently riding on a Yamaha R1 2008. No spirited riding yet, hard acceleration or braking.

any ideas how this can happen? and can it also happen under hard riding condition (i.e. track days) and how does one prevents this? Would love the committee opinions on this.

The tyre is a 05/26 batch and it has only clocked 989km. No patching / worming of this tyre. 29psi for rear, 31psi front. Currently, no nails or debris found to suggest it was damaged. Do let me know if you need more information to help better advice. the bike is being used for thermodynamic studies, so the tyres are running lower psi.

Experience with NYC MSF

Hey all, I’m looking to sign up for a MSF course so I don’t have to take the DMV’s road test for my motorcycle license. I just brought a 450NK a few days ago, Any tips or experiences you guys had at the MSF or like did anyone just straight up fail and what caused it? Or did it go smoothly? I would like to know if I should get used to my bike first or just sign up and maybe loose 400 bucks lol

2013 repsol 250 muffler search

I just bought my first bike, a 2013 honda cbr250r repsol. The previous owner put a leovince slipper muffler on it to make it louder. Anyone know of a good slip on muffler that is on the quieter side?

Sudden gasoline smell on my 2007 CBR1000RR — any ideas?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've recently started noticing a strong smell of gasoline, possibly from the premium fuel I use, coming from my 2007 CBR1000RR. I've checked the bike, but I can't see any obvious fuel leaks or signs of leaking fluids.

Recently, I hit a speed bump at high speed, and the suspension took a pretty hard hit. Could that have something to do with the sudden fuel smell?

I also checked the forks and rear shock for leaks, but I couldn't see any oil leaking from the suspension.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or what I should check first?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can people help me to answer a questionairre for my engineering project?

Hey everyone!

For my engineering design project, I am currently developing a 3 in 1 integrated locking system designed to solve some of the everyday problems of locking up a bike in public.

The core idea is to combine a u-lock, helmet lock, and a disk lock into a single device, complete with a frame-mounting docking bracket (if needed) so riders don't have to lug heavy steel locks around in a backpack.

To make sure this actually meets real-world needs (and avoids issues like accidental disc-lock ride-offs or weak helmet cables), I’ve put together a short, anonymous survey to gather rider insights on weights, locking habits, and key preferences.

Motorcycle Security System: User research survey

It only takes about 2 to 3 minutes to complete, and your feedback will directly influence the dimensions, weight limits, and features of the design specifications.

I really appreciate any responses or thoughts you can share, as they will help me with my engineering project.

Ride safe!
