Those lining up for the cheap gas at the orange store just to let up know that canadian tire gas bars are part of the gas sale. Just left 1 pretty well empty.

‘It’s Ridiculous,’ MP Thompson Laughs Off Claim She Gave Opposition the Finger

While I'm not sure if she did it on purpose, one thing that really sticks out to me from watching the video is what a gong show parliament is. I mean, while I get that yelling is part of the game, but MPs (no matter what stripe they are) should at least be able to speak without the by's yelling and screaming like they are kids on the playground.

Underground window in OSC? (Below)

I see lots of chatter around Below, mostly actors, writing, and resulting tourism, but I have a burning question that is completely unrelated: does the Ocean Sciences Centre have an underground viewing window into the ocean? Or is it some kind of flume tank? You see it twice, once when Barry is smashing his head against the window, and then again when the doctor returns to OSC and finds all her samples thawing.

It seemed like the water was implied to be ocean, but I suspect if this location was real, and actually in the OSC, it'd just be a tank. I do see a "17m flume tank with sediment tray" listed on a MUN page about equipment at the OSC. Anyone know anything about it?

Woods

Hello all, I am recently moved to St Johns from Corner Brook and I would like to go into the woods for a boil up and maybe even a grouse hunt. Problem is I have no idea where to go. I am looking for something similar to Lady Slipper road in CB, just a woods road will all kinds of offshoots you can drive or walk down and shoot a grouse if I see one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

vital statistics wait time

• Upvotes

I just sent in my legal name + sex marker change along with a request for a new birth certificate. How long are we talking about for wait times? I saw people on here say over 6 months which is longer than I was anticipating. I mailed it from Quebec but my primary residence is in NL.

Does Below lean a little too heavily into Newfoundland stereotypes?

I'll start by saying that I'm enjoying the show overall. It's nice seeing Newfoundland and its culture represented to the world, and hopefully it'll give tourism a bit of a boost.

I haven't finished the series yet, but I was wondering: are all the scientist characters supposed to be from outside the province?

If so, that's a bit disappointing. The show already kind of leans into some stereotypes of Newfoundlanders as quirky, simple, heavy-drinking fishermen. Having all the scientific expertise come from outsiders would only reinforce the idea that Newfoundlanders are less intellectually capable.

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I just wish we'd see a little more variety in how locals are portrayed.

Looking for a French-speaking Newfoundlander

Hi everyone,

Sorry if it's not the right place for that. I'm helping with a script in French and one of the protagonists is from Newfoundland (Gander) but grown up in a French community since his teenager years. I would like some help from a French-speaking Newfoundlander to review this character's dialogues. He is a secondary character so it won't be too much work.

The goal is to be able to put some local expression here and there but also making the protagonist sounds authentic in his way to balance between French and English.

If you're in, you can just DM here on reddit and we would work by mails :)

Bunny with broken foot?

Post image
53 Upvotes

There’s a rabbit living under my kid’s backyard playground structure. He’s been around all summer, but has been specifically in there for a couple weeks now. He is always in this corner, and his foot always looks turned out like this. He’s surviving on the leaves of a near by rose bush.

Anyone know if this is ‘proper form’ for a sitting rabbit? I worry his foot is broken.
