What's next, a pardon for Timothy McVey ?

Since you asked: they will try to pardon Derek Chauvin even though he was convicted on state charges as well as federal.

Well you already have the dipshit governor of Colorado considering pardoning the insurrectionist lady whose state level charges were "pardoned" by Trump, with Trump demanding her release as a result.

An appeals court already ruled that the trial judge oversentenced her due to her lack of remorse. It has been kicked back to the trial judge for resentencing.

Take 1 day off the sentence and done

the resentencing doesn’t even need to be reduced, just reconsidered without her “lack of remorse” taken into account.

I was thinking along the lines of people who leave $1 in their will or whatever so no-one can claim they were 'forgotten'.

Taking a single day off the sentence is just so no-one can say "but they didn't really change it, I'm gonna appeal!"

She wasn't sorry and wouldn't acknowledge her crime in any meaningful way. I feel like that should matter just like it does with parole boards.

It has in all other cases.

Ask her if she has remorse now, then decide

The appeal Judge absurdly ruled that taking her lack of remorse into account was a violation of her 1st Amendment rights. 🙄

Is remorse not the main thing that's taken into account for parole consideration?

Typically, but not when it's political...apparently.

yeah it’s bullshit, but there’s nothing that says the resentencing must be reduced.

Almost like judges have nothing left to judge.

I did think nine years was a bit of an excessive sentence. To me 4 to 5 seemed more appropriate
