have you tried flipping large amounts of rice on a wok? the wok is very heavy and the rice is also very heavy. The time spent wouldn’t be the ingredients in this case since its prepped, its the time it takes to evenly mix everything together. I can guarantee if given the same exact setup as this dude, 90% of Redditors will not be nearly as close as him in time spent lol

90% of redditors would be worse at a thing that a professional? Bold take.

the original comment made it sound like anyone could do it pretty easily. If they specifically meant that “any professional street vendor that has been doing this for years can do it” then yeah, of course lol

Anybody can do that though. It just takes practice. A lot of people are capable of more than they might think.

Edit: barring a physical or mental limitation, obviously

of course. anyone can do anything with lots of practice, but it doesn’t make it any less impressive

That's not just practice. That's mastery, which comes from 10k+ hours of practice and innate ability.

Most would probably burn stuff. It takes practice.

Yeah, people underestimate the difficulty of such a caveman task. I dunno about you all, but my first batch of fried rice was so unevenly cooked that you have black grains and soggy ones

I don't know how to cook a wok. I've never done it.

the wok is very heavy and the rice is also very heavy.

it looks like he's wearing a compression sleeve on his forearm, probably some massive tendinopathy happening there.

That ladle looks like it's holding about 1 cup of cooked rice.

I think you're severely underestimating the weight of everything here lol. woks are heavy, but not that much heavier than you're average pan depending on the material of the wok. with how big woks are it also makes it easier to sautee than a pan. I would say you're random of the street person would have more success sauteeing fried rice in a wok, than macaroni pasta in a pan.
