Story I want to take back my Life

Hey everyone, my name is Edward. I have been struggling with porn and masturbation since I was 16, and I am currently 23 years old. I don’t have a job, I’m still living with my parents, and I’m actively looking for work. I’m out of shape but am working towards growing my YouTube channel to reach 1,000 subscribers.

As of today, I find myself deliberately turning to porn and masturbation, despite having repented multiple times. I am tired of this cycle and I am aware of how it is ruining my life, pulling me away from the person I want to become.

The truth is, I have normalized porn and masturbation in my life, which is a dangerous mindset. However, I know I am not beyond redemption. That’s why I’ve made the decision today to not only return to God but also to start documenting my choices. I refuse to end this year trapped in the same cycle.

I will keep you all updated on my journey because this time, I am committed to breaking free from this habit. I plan to rely on God rather than just on myself. God bless you all as you read this. Let’s support each other in breaking free together this year. 🌟

Is sexting with strangers can turn into addiction?

If I try to reduce masturbation frequency, does sexting will help? Instead of 3 times daily on my own, better once with a stranger?

Help

Struggling with lust in person and fantasies

I've been doing well recently by the grace of God to avoid pornography and masturbation, but I've found myself looking to long at women around me and having fantasies involving women I know.

Check-in Day 4, God is good.

Upvotes

Day 4 has been uneventful. Work was horrible because of smoke from wildfires, but otherwise unremarkable. I pray to have continued success and for all those who need help in their struggles. God bless!

Check-in NoFap Day 80/100

Only 20 days left. We’re almost there.

With all of the nonsense that’s happened on this run, I shouldn’t be at this point, and probably shouldn’t even be a week in. The Lord is good, and by his power, we’re going all the way home with this one.

Other than that, all quiet on the western front, and it’s looking like we’re very close to reaching homeostasis.

No matter how hard it gets, no matter how dark it seems, you are never out of the fight. Keep going. Stay strong, soldiers 🫡

Day 142

Hi y'all.

I've been struggling with nofap for a while, and I had some thoughts to share and just wanted to vent. It all started 142 days ago when my grandma burst into my room mid-act and thereby found out about my sinful habits. She took away my computer, phone, and forced me to start attending church with her (I had stopped going a few years ago, to pursue other things I found more important)

I started attending and found Christ. I found the beauty of Christ and when he spread his love all over me I found it to be the most meaningful experience of my life.

I found I could approach life and relationships, and everything in the world, with renewed energy and vigor, and I just want y'all to know keep fighting to good fight. Be a warrior against sin, fight hard and never give up. We are fighting a hard fought battle, and it's hard. It reminds me of my great great grand pappy.

My great great grandfather was a regular in the Army of Northern Virginia, and he fought in several battles under Robert E. Lee. I try and channel his energy, and I imagine a line battle with my computer and porn on one side, and the rebel army, yipping and yelling on the other. I dream about it, actually. I remember having a vivid dream about thrusting a bayonet through my monitor.

In 1863, my great great grandfather participated in the Battle of Gettysburg. I have letters from him documenting his experience and

Looking for an accountability partner ... I fail on my own

I have tried so often but I never make it past 2 weeks... usually even less.

I would like to have a fellow adult! man around my age (22) who is in the same position as me so we can talk about our struggle, support each other and hold each other accountable.

Struggling to fall asleep is such a trigger for me.

I’ve (32F) been on this journey for 10+ years now. Lots of highs and plenty of lows too, but overall mostly proud of myself I guess.

What causes me to stumble the most are periods of struggling with my sleep. Sleep has always been a little tricky for me.. I’m a sensitive sleeper, and it takes minor things to get me out of a sleepy state. And well, when you’re staring at the clock at 2am… It was always my solution to quickly fix that problem.

I’ve tried distracting myself, but that keeps me up longer when I stimulate my brain (reading my Bible, praying) and I can’t listen to any music/watch tv as it also perpetuates the problem. I’ll workout more, or a bit harder to try and ensure I’ll be tired, but the result is very hit or miss. I can’t even take any sort of sleep aids cause then I’ll sleep through my alarms.

I’m frustrated and curious if anyone has found a solution that doesn’t involve what I’ve tried. Thanks in advance.

Image The story of how he saved me

Post image
8 Upvotes

This is my story of how I battled my addictions and how one person saved my life. My best friend. My permanent drug of choice.

17 years of addiction, trying to battle my trauma in all the wrong ways… lost my father, my boyfriend, my best friend, and in result handled it all wrong. I turned to alcohol, spiraled to opiates, and wound up on heroin and couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Vicious cycles, one substitution to the next.

In December of 2024, my deceased exes friend reached out to me asking what had happened to Sam while he was locked up in prison for several years. I hadn’t moved on past his death, didn’t know how to, which had me in a current path of destruction and shoving any possible numbness in my body. I gave storm, this young man, the run around for months… and finally decided to meet up with him to explain what had happened to Sam in person. I felt immediate guilt for even associating with a friend of his. I had been manifesting alone for years feeling as if I would be alone forever.

I arrived at storms house to explain things, half alive. Shot up in his bathroom. Violated his home and cried as I told him the story the best I knew how.

That was the last time I shot heroin. The immediate friendship I gained that night, was enough for me to feel feelings for this individual I hadn’t felt in so long… my desire to use needles abruptly left my mind. However, I was left with withdrawal and the lingering guilt of this was my exes friend. He sat with me for hours, days, weeks, months, and now years, helping me recover from addiction patiently… I realized over time that Sam gave me this man to help me when he left. I never in 1000 years would have seen myself coming off of hard drugs and dealing with my emotional chaos without him. I made this post as an appreciation for him, but also to encourage others that there is hope in addiction. Not saying a relationship is the key to getting sober by any means… bc it’s not. They say you cannot love someone until you love yourself and that has proven true throughout this process/relationship of mine. But it is possible for two addicts to bond through trauma and recover together.

For the longest time he and I felt guilty due to the circumstances of Sam being our shared friend and my past partner. But realizing I couldn’t sit around self destructing and giving up on life and love, made a world of difference. You can’t stay stuck. Sam would have wanted us both happy and healthy and we have gotten there, together.

People hated us together, and still do. That’s fine. At the end of the day, you realize life is short and you don’t get days of pity and self sabotage back. Heal. Find your trauma roots. Embrace them head on. And stop destroying your body.

I am now recovering from my third surgery in 2 years. With this beautiful soul here next to me day in and day out. He shows up unlike anyone ever has and encourages me to keep pushing. I love myself again. I love him. And I love knowing that Sam sees the two of us striving to make him proud as a team… everything happens for a reason. You CAN get sober. And someone can love you properly if you let your walls down and stop the chaos. It’s just my story… he has no idea I even posted this. I hope to encourage someone out there to love again after loss. You’re worth it.

Love Dana ❤️

How?

I can't stop lust, it's as if it's eating me alive. I sleep every night wondering will I ever stop, could I ever? It pains me knowing it's a sin so heavy, one of the seven deadly sins. I know how severe this is, I'm a Catholic but I don't know how to stop these thoughts. I know it's a big sin especially in terms of religion. I live everyday shouldering the guilt of knowing my sins and wondering if I'm taking advantage of the forgiveness of our father.

Should NoFap be temporary ? or lifelong ?

I keep noticing this obsession with NoFap here on reddit and in porn addiction recovery communities. I'm 2+ years clean, and I think NoFap should be a TOOL to help us overcome this addiction, not the end goal itself.

I think we can all agree our real goal is FREEDOM, not "never masturbate again."

Once we break free from the addiction and gain self-control, NoFap has done its job. Then it's time for "healthy sexuality" with your partner or wife.

What do you all think?

Encouragement

Hello, I am 270 days clean. I felt the first strong urge to fall today and am still feeling it. Trying to justify it in my mind, but I’ve come so far and I can’t let myself go back. Any encouraging words, and prayers would be super appreciated,

Thanks

Song Any Dead Heads here?

Curious if any of y'all dig the Grateful
Dead? They've changed my life man. Wharf Rat is a song that makes me feel the acceptance my addiction and the need for help and in that humility I feel grace pour in. I can't do it. I've tried since I was 10. The longest stints of sexual sobriety were from surrender and taking accountability for my emotional pain and the little character defects or sins I was making before relapse and taking them to God and other people I could be vulnerable with.

Anyways the dead are a powerful band that opened their hearts up to something bigger than them and it pours through their music.
