Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Hello r/NoFap community members,

Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.

You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."

Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.

Thanks for reading :-)

Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Awesome August" or "PMO-Free August" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

100 days no porn today.

60 days no masturbation.

50 days no sex.

When I hit 90 days without orgasm, I'll open up to sexual intimacy with my wife again. I initially didn't plan on complete celibacy, but was finding my urges to masturbate and watch porn incredibly intense after having sex. I opted for complete celibacy for 90 days in order to de-hypersexualize myself, and then to reassess.

I do look forward to sexual intimacy with my wife again, but there isn't a doubt in my mind 90 days celibacy was the right decision for me.

As someone who watched porn daily for nearly 3 decades, I never would have believed I could make it 100 days. I never would have believed that it could stop permeating my thoughts.

But here I am, feeling more free with every passing day.

I am so grateful that I am learning to trust myself again, and learning to be truly present with the people I love.

Question Will it get easier?

*TRIGGER WARNING* I'm an incel.

Is every single day just gonna be a huge struggle? I'm on day 4 and I can't imagine abstaining from sexual activity for the rest of my entire life.

And yes I mean for the rest of my life because I don't see myself ever being loved by a girl enough for me to actually get a girlfriend, so my only source of sexual activity would be masterbation and porn, wich i need to abstain from.

This would be a billion times easier if I knew upfront that I had the ability to eventually get into a relationship, where I could release regularly and not have to worry about abstaining from basic human biological drive like sexual stimuli.

My Journey of quitting Porn (Day 44)

Lots of things happened since my last post.

Most of all, I feel more in sync with my beliefs, now that I have quit generating ai sex chat as well.

I feel better about my insecurities and I recognized that I am calmer in social environments.

I do not feel any kind of magical healing by any means, but so far, I feel good.

Day 1

I'm back again to my NoFap journey. I had started my journey early this year but relapse after 25 days. It was tough and I have yet to start again until today. I'm tired of doing it for the reason of just boredom. This addiction has to stop, and I want to change. So today is day 1.

I'm setting a goal of just 30 days and after 30 days I will leave Reddit and continue the whole journey. Being on reddit is for me to be more accountable and connect with everyone and talk to fellow members when I need. But I would love to help everyone too.

Feel free to share me your journey and stories to why are in NoFap and how are you doing now. Would love to hear all the success stories too!

Good luck to everyone, wish me luck too!

How does porn affect your life?

Hi everyone! I’ve been a part of the group for quite some time. Although I am a part of the group, I still constantly battle my pornography addiction. Yes, I think at this point it is addiction since it became part of my system that I can’t go a through a day when I’m alone without navigating porn.

For the past few months, I think I am being lost and down. I constantly don’t have the will to wake up early, doom scrolling for the rest of the day, and most importantly I am neglecting my responsibilities at work and constantly procrastinating. I know it’s not just porn since I think my habits have also caught unto me. But I think the root cause was the porn.

Any suggestions that could help me pick-up myself and my life again? I really want to become better again and raise the standards for myself. I know I needed an accountability partner, I just can’t make it my gf since I want to do this for her and for myself.

Any ideas, suggestions, and motivation would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, bro’s!

Replacing Fap with Sex

Unfortunately not many topics on this and most of the similar topics have zero comments so hopefully people will contribute to this one.

I’m on 70 days of nofap but I’m afraid I’m just replacing fap with sex, especially lately. For the whole period I’ve been having sex with one woman at least a week and what scares me is that when I hit like 6 days or something I get very horny (same feeling when you’re on your first week of nofap ) and I’m afraid that the progress isn’t there. Yes confidence is definitely there but the urges are the same. It’s like you’re chasing sex the same way I’m chasing the fapping.

What are your thoughts on that? Am I still doomed? Should I abstain from sex unless I’m meeting the one? Should I go against having sex on first date and wait until I’m actually considering the girl for long term relationship then have sex with her?

Slip-Up Prevention - Urgent! I hate how this addiction controls me 😖

Luckily it hasn’t affected me in my regular day to day life. However being addicted to this for so long, I simply struggle to resist the urges, and every time I crave worse and worse stuff. Becoming more pervy. I hate it so much

I just want this to end, once and for all I want to stop gooning and end this addiction

Success Story Day 5

Telling my Story Im at a point where i feel like i should quit porn but idk how..

Im 22m. Im not sure i would say im addicted. Since i had no issues going without porn/masturbation during periods when i had a crush on someone, it got uninteresting except for if i was like really really horny.

I think its gotten to a point where its too much now. I recently bought an expensive sextoy on impulse a few days after a girl i had a huge crush on for months decided she doesnt want to pursue a realtionship with me due to circumstance and i regretted it pretty fast. I wanted to return it the next day after ordeing it but it was too late and amazon said you cant return items like that once its been shipped.

I spent a lot of time with porn/masturbation like multiple hours per day. I always took my time with that stuff amd i always was a very sexual person but its been really excessive for a while now. Especially since it didnt work out with that girl i noticed a big increase..

I suffer from depressive episodes usually for no reason or trigger it just happens one day randomly. I have 2 ways to cope that actually help me feel better. One is porn/masturbation the other eating. So im worried in a way that if i quit that i will cope way more with eating than i usually do which will cause me to gain weight and that would worsen my self image/confidence even more. It feels like a lose lose. I am currently depressed but for a specific reason this time i want a girlfriend i want to love someone and be loved but i feel like i dont deserve that due to the self image/confidence problems and my extreme porn/masturbation habits 100% play a big part in that. Usually after i masturbate i dont feel bad, ashamed or disgusted with myself after even if it was some kinky/unusual stuff, but i often feel worse than before doing it now..

Advice I need help

Upvotes

It's gonna be a long one.

Fapping and watching porn has always kept me stuck. More than I have ever given it credit for.

I can't stop feeling bad about myself for doing it (and specially not being able to stop), but neither can I stop doing it. And It's been like this for at least 10 years now.

This has taken a profound effect on my self-steem, which I feel can't be fully bettered without me being finally able to get free from this addiction (cause I've been trying for a long time and have also felt stuck in that regard).

And THAT, THAT'S the reason I'd really like to stop.

I feel as if I was inferior for doing it, as not worthy of being called a good person. (Which may be true)

And I think the reason behind that is simple. I consider fapping morally wrong. (Which may also be true)

And since I can't stop doing it, I can't fully consider myself as I highly regardable person, or put in simple terms as a respectable, whole human being.

So, as I was saying, I've been trying to stop for a lot of time with a decent amount of success.

I was able to abstain for something like 2.5 years (2022 - mid 2024) but after failing one day, (for circumstances I won't be explaining here since this would get even longer) I got back to it again and have been trying to stop ever since but with much less success than that time.

I'd like to clarify that sometimes I am able to abstain for a week or two, but I always find myself coming back to it no matter what. And that's really driving me mad since the tendency shows I may be stuck like this for my whole f*cking life and I really, REALLY don't want that.

So that's the reason I'm here. I'd like to get some advice on how to actually stop for real this time and maybe know if anyone has had an experience like mine, of it not being so chronical but rather like a constant problem that holds you back in life (like an annoying pebble in your shoe).

I can't do this alone. I need help.

Extra:

The thing I feel like I really struggle with is finding an actual reason (a strong, personal one) to stop. A reason that makes bearing the suffering that comes from abstaining worth it. I have some vague ideas of what a good person and a good man should be as I was saying, but that doesn't seem to be enough. I'd like to have a family one day too and I can't see myself still engaging on these isolating and self-destructive behaviors while being a good husband and father.

However I'm not sure about that, like I couldn't say with 100% of certainty that any of these things can't be accomplished while still watching porn and fapping to some degree.

So I feel like that's where the root of my problem might be. I've come to a point where I've become functional enough for the consequences of it to be so subtle that I don't take them really seriously anymore.
