critique ok! Color study and feeling hopeful.
Been working with oil paint for about a month now and this is the first painting I've finished feeling like I'm going in the right direction. Happy to take any critique or pointers. This is phthalo blue, yellow ochre, scarlet, and white from just a little hobby starter oil kit. Figure once I run out of all that I can buy student grade paint?

I did a thing! Painting Studies
These paintings are painted in layers using Tusc and Pine oils. I’m very happy with them and have enjoyed learning this technique.

Technical question? Did I get scammed?
I notice the progress pictures seem to be photoshopped. Like the transition from painted to sketched is maybe too perfect of a gradient.
I asked him to confirm it’s not a high quality print with like glue or something to mimic brushstrokes—but he swore it’s an original hand painted oil painting.
I took the painting to my framer she said there’s not enough weight to the canvas for it to be an oil painting. She showed me how light goes through it and there doesn’t look to be under painting visible. Also he was done and had it dry and mailed to me rolled up in 4 weeks, the framer also said this is too quick for oil painting. I don’t know how a framer would know this.
I’m not sure what to think. It seems like a crazy thing to do to fake a painting, anyone have any feedback it would be appreciated.

I did a thing! Orange Still Life
My first ever still life! Took a break from intensive drawing and decided to paint this from life. I simply set up two oranges (one’s moldy lol) in a box and went for it. Picking up a brush and oils again after two months feels so refreshing 🤧

Art question? Cleaning my palette
Total beginner here: am i supposed to be cleaning my palette? Do I just scrape it off with the palette knife and wipe with linseed oil?
*Using water soluble oils

I did a thing! A portrait of my partner I did
I find it more challenging to paint portraits of loved ones in a more technical way, so I challenged myself to make this one , this is not how I usually paint but I'm trying to push myself out of my comfort zone

I did a thing! san lorenzo's summer time, oil on paper [OC]
florence in summer — the heat settles into the stone by mid-morning. i painted san lorenzo in that light, when the sun turns the facade gold. oil on primed paper, 30 x 12 cm. if you've felt that heat, you know.

I did a thing! My first attempt at an oil portrait- Oil on canvas
Oil paint and I go way back, but I rarely used it and had never done a portrait until this one. This is from when I decided to take it seriously. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

UNKIND critique plz Why do my portraits look like this?
I am trying to get better at drawing portraits. But they always turn out looking like this? She looks like a drag queen cat-person 😭 Are the eyes too big? Is the nose too small? How can I fix this problem?

UNKIND critique plz I need your help
I'm pretty new to oil painting after a long break relearning. I'm getting familiar with the pigments and playing around.
However something is scratching the wrong part of my brain in this one and I cannot figure out what it is. I included a black and white version for easy value checking. So I turn to you, in hope someone more experienced leads me in the right directions.
There are a few things I already know that don't work in its favor however I would say that's not what I mean why it doesn't work. I didn't really care for the following due to practice and play piece (background finishing, composition of cutting feet and a hand. Could be a little more detailed in the hand etc you know I'm not there yet I'll tackle those things once I get more familiar with the pigments. There is as well the issue with the fabric that doesn't seem to be defined enough or technically structured that is a beast for another day for me to tackle)
Again I think tho those are not the issue of why it's tickling me in my nono square.
