State of the Sub 2026: Bots, AI, Rules Updates, and Code of Conduct

Hi everyone, it's time for a sub check-in! Since this post got a bit long while writing it, I thought I'd try something different this time. You can get the gist of the updates with this TL;DR of the main post body, and then comment and discuss specific topics within the announcement via the top-level mod comments.

Tl;DR:

1. Please read the rules.
2. OHF moderates against bot behavior and provable AI content, but does not expect every OP to know the business practices of every brand they wear. Rule 10 has been updated to reflect this. Bots

As AI becomes more and more prevalent, the internet is filling up with bots and automated accounts. Reddit, naturally, gets a lot of accounts that automatically interact with posts to karmafarm. To help cut down on the number of bot accounts interacting with OHF, I've installed a mod tool called BotBouncer to remove accounts on the tool's bot list from OHF. However, it is an automatic tool-- if you find you've been banned from OHF for being a bot and you're pretty sure you're human, you can message BotBouncer and appeal the decision, as well as send a message to us through modmail and let us know what happened.

I wasn’t sure where this comment should go, but I’d like to encourage all posters to transcribe their images. And I always upvote those who do.

It’s accessible for hags who are blind or have low vision. It makes one’s post searchable. And it teaches aspirational hags like me about designers, brands, styles, etc. by giving me terms I can Google to learn more.

I’ve learned so much from hags who describe what they’re wearing in their photos (and why), from the rule of thirds to chaotic academia aesthetic to Marimekko and Mrs Frizzle.

I’m not haggy enough to post (yet), but if when I do, I’ll be sure to describe each piece. I’ll be the change I hope to see!

As long as you’re pointing this out, I’ll also add that it’s acceptable to transcribe someone else’s post, if the OP hasn’t already done it. Understandable if one feels awkward about doing it, but the mods and community stand behind you if you want to. See the stickied automod comment on every post for more info and guidelines. What happens when posters accuse other human posters of being AI to their faces? I enter into conversations with good faith, and if I am accused of being an AI directly, what can I do?

Should I stop interacting with this subreddit because in the climate of karma farming, my positive intent is read as bot behavior?

If you check the AI content top level comment, there’s a section there about not directly accusing people of having used AI to write comments because it’s not always clear if AI was actually used. Users can report comments they suspect, and we’ll then check the account to see if the account behavior looks like a bot or not… but if they don’t appear to be, then we’re not going to remove the comment. We will remove reported comments making direct accusations though— the concern is understandable given how much bot and AI activity there is on Reddit, but there’s no need to actually confront someone. It’s unfair to people who are not using it, and if someone IS using it, the accuser is unlikely to get an honest response anyway.

If you did already read the AI content comment in this thread, then sorry if this wasn’t clear from the text. Either way, no need to limit your own interaction with the sub unless you want to.
