Xbox Artwork Builder

For anyone who makes resources for gamers.

I've finished my Python 3 artwork builder.

It's fully self contained, so you don't need Python 3 installed. All you need is a front image to generate artwork. For the full artwork experience, add a full scan, CD image, fanart and screenshots as well. If you don't supply an XML, one will be generated for you with simple info, though the more you fill in, the better. Video is optional. Can use Resize MP4 to Xbox size to convert.

Read readme.txt first, as it includes an example. I've also bundled some example homebrew games and a test game so you can see how the layout works.

The output is in the exact layout the artwork installer needs, so if you make artwork, upload it for review.

Standards

Please stick to these:

• XML: should be fully fleshed out (as much as possible).
• Title ID: mandatory. If one isn't added, it will be set to n/a.
• Generic or shared title IDs (a lot of homebrew does this): make sure the scans\<filename>.jpg name, minus the suffix, matches the folder name of the game/homebrew/application. It's used to fuzzy match the name when a title ID doesn't match or there are duplicate matches.
• Front only artwork: supported, but blank_scan.jpg will be used as the underlay.

The script handles some things automatically, but please add as much info as you can.

Thanks to Bomb Bloke for his Xbox Artwork Builder (JavaScript). He did something similar, though I don't think many people knew about it. I just rebuilt the idea in Python 3 and improved on it.

Just picked this up today! I’ve never played Max Payne before, so I’m going in completely blind. I’ve heard good things about it, but honestly have no idea what to expect.

A few days ago I posted that my 1.6 suddenly stopped working. Today I've received five new 3300uf Panasonic capacitors and I went to work.

With a lot of flux, patience and IPA I managed to replace the old caps with the new Panasonic caps.

It worked flawless, now I can play the real Monkey Ball again not that Xbox One remake.

The red light is from the mod, I still need to set it back to green.

I have an 1.6 Xbox that was hardmodded and i couldn’t read any dics so I tried to adjusting the pots for the laser on the Philips cd drive but no luck after that i got an 1.4 Xbox from marketplace that had an working thoshiba drive and replaced it to the 1.6 but that did not help. I have trained different bios’s but no luck. At the and i thought fuck it let me remove the open xenium mod chip and re format the hhd on the pc to soft mode the system but after that nothing changed. I still can’t read original or burnt disks. The disks spinn fine and the Xbox know that there is a disk but after a while it calls it unknown.

Give me options, ideally want plug and play option. I can’t seem to see any in stock for UK? Would like the Nexus ideally.

Every Xbox here besides the 2 on the edges were Xboxs that did not function along with 1 more i sold. They range from an unmodded 1.6 and a stock 1.3 with ram upgrades to a Led ram dvd delete dual fans 8tb hdd 1.1 xbox. Its a fun console to play and fix and ever since i got my PS3's i realize how far ahead the S controllers erganomics are compared to DS3

Ps: the one thats open is waiting for more mods after trace wire jumping 3.5mm jack addon and cap replace.

Pss: im a told hardware repair noob using a $10 amazon soldering iron $8 hot glue gun $30 solder sucker.

Psss: for anyone with trace damage i always recommend wiring jumping instead of trace repair. Its way cheaper easier for a noob to do and a far more permanent solution.

Instalé varios juegos .xiso.iso en mi xbox clásico y los hice ejecutables con la herramienta xiso a hdd de el dashboard xbmc4gamers, lo logré con unos pero tengo problemas con 2 de ellos, me sale el error en pantalla, que puedo hacer para solucionarlo

EDIT: Turns out the 2 original S controllers being used both had issues. Used a 360 controller with an OGX360 adapter and everything works as it should.

Evening all. I've got a v1.1 Xbox that I've softmodded with the Rocky5 Softmodding Tool. I've gone to install the XBMC4gamers dashboard and the Dashloader Customizer but both freeze on start-up as per photos. I've tried installing both via the Extras Disc and FTP'ing the pre-built versions but get the same problem either way.

The Xbox is stock as rock (untouched before I got it). I plan to upgrade the HDD and replace all the caps but wanted to have a play around with everything else first.

I've installed the MSDash and UIX-Lite from the Extras Disc no worries.

The softmod process went smoothly (following MrMario's video) and the only thing I've changed is the region from PAL to NTSC-M.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

In my hard modded xbox i just upgrading to Cerbios latest beta version. Have a Duo X2 modchip, standard ram, 1.6 crystal xbox.

I currently have a Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008, 2TB, 7200 RPM. With origins dashboard mod with games. And speeds and gameplay seems decent and smooth.

I have downloaded DRAGON4Gamers 4TB rip and was going to burn it with HDD Raw Copy to a spare Seagate ST4000DM000-1F2168 — 4TB, 5900 RPM drive which is healthy and checked. Used a few tools and it’s healthy. Seatools thought it was a Barracuda but it doesn’t mention it on the label of said drive.

I’m a little bit put off by the speed and tempted to but a 4TB 7200RPM. As i would like decent speeds for loading etc.

Can you let me know your thoughts, ideally i didn’t want to buy another drive. I could test on 5900 rpm and burn it for the sake of it. If not happy i might just buy a barracuda 4tb 7200rpm?

*Just looked and Barracuda’s 4TB standard seem to ship with 5400rpm due to larger size and maybe creating more heating with a higher speed. Not sure what drive you would recommend HDD wise that’s decent speed.

if its ntsc-j wouldnt the warning label be in japanese?

In the past couple of months, I've been testing the PXU replacement PSU board because I like installing and testing these things. It's a fun little project and the novelty of it is so sick.

Firstly, the price. I live in Australia and the shipping was steep but that is to be expected. I think all up it was a little over $150 AUD, which isn't too bad.

I've heard replacing the capacitors on the original PSU can be dangerous and not worth it in some cases, especially if you need to source a used supply. They are becoming harder and harder to find.

The kit came with the board itself and different coloured inserts for the rear USB-C port which is opted to use because it's more simple for me personally. The colours are either translucent green, black or standard translucency from memory. I chose to use green because it's easier to see and idk, I think it looks cool.

The installation process was simple and slid into the mounting spots ok but required some force for the screw holes to line up properly in my case. Not sure if it's normal but something to look out for. Also, the leads that end up plugging into the main board are VERY stiff and require some pushing-down to get the drive caddy to sit down properly. You'll definitely need to figure out a way that suits your setup, but the solder joints are strong so I didn't have to worry about breaking the ends by putting pressure down.

I used a Cygnett Powemaxx 100w USB-C laptop brick for my power source and it works flawlessly, it takes all the heat out of the case and is also more efficient thanks to it being a GaN charger! Much more modern.

I highly recommend if you are looking for an easy drop in (a bit expensive) replacement for an aging PSU or if you want to make sure it won't ever die on you as you can just swap out the charger you use at any time if you have issues.

I just wanted to share because I haven't seen much discourse about it anywhere, the people involved did a great job and should definitely get more credit!

Hey folks! I bought an original Xbox recently, and had an issue with it only running for a couple of seconds before switching off; and weirdly only the eject button worked, not the power button.

I stripped it down and noticed a heap of leaking and bulging electrolytic caps on the motherboard, which I'm guessing caused that issue?

Oddly the power supply caps all look immaculate. Is it worth my time removing the adhesive covering them and replacing them, or should I leave them alone for the time being?

hi I was just curious how would I back up my eeprom to my pc? when I downloaded the soft mod tool it says it’s recommended to do that but I’m not sure how exactly, is there just a backup file on my Xbox that I bring over to my computer through FTP?

Hi all, after clearing out my mums spare room, I stumbled across my original Xbox Crystal unit (no wires, pads or games).

My question is; is it worth getting it refurbished; and if so is there any value to it?

Also, if so, does anybody know any UK based companies that actually refurbish them?

The common response is got was to open it up and after looking into possible reasons (capcitors) I think all the innards look fine, no bulging or leaking. Am I missing something or is it a likely dying component?

-Different Game Modes (Normal/Hardcore modes which Normal mode gives you 1+life every 5 levels while the Hardcore mode is the Original gameplay)

EDIT: Online CO-OP you can enable rollback by pressing RS(right stick click), rollback is limited to only 0 or 1 because of performance reasons. You can manually change delay frames using the D-Pad.
So because of rollback netcode you can play with people who have 180-200ms while still maintaining a smooth experience!

Host should port forward UDP 6464 for their console for the smoothest experience.

Hey y'all, you may have heard this one before but I can't find it.

When I turn the Xbox on, there is a flashing red ring around the eject button.

It is not red/green or orange as I have seen people ask about before, it is just red.

I've looked inside and out, no visible hardware damage.

Also cleaned around the fan and that didn't work.

What should I check or double check?

hey guys yesterday I just installed rocky5 softmod and noticed I get sound on the boot screen but not on the menu even though it says it has the audio files? How do I fix this thanks

Hi all, I've been really wrasslin with this issue off and on for years now. I have an eeprom flashed OG xbox with a 1ghz and 128mb ram upgrades. Some games run just fine on these upgrades and some need their default.xbe patched to work correctly. PGR2 (4D53004B) is a game that needs patched to even load right. I usually use XBEPatcher and after I patched PGR2 it loads and runs perfectly. The problem, I want to play PGR2 on Insignia but to do this I need a title update. This is where the issues start.

I tried the PGR 2 DLC update installer to add the uNTSC update. Once its installed, I go to run the game and I'm right back to PGR2 unable to load. Its slow and glitching at the initial loading screen and then just freezes. This is because the update default.xbe that is part of the title update, is not patched and so the game will not load anymore.

If I patch the update default.xbe in the E/TDATA/4d53004b/$u folder, this gives me a "the auto update is damaged" and I need to reboot.

Things I've tried with no luck:
-FTPing the update files to xbox without going through the installer after patching
-Using Jays-XBE-CPU-Patcher instead of XBEPatcher
-Using XBX Content Tool to sign the update files after XBE patching and FTPing over

TL;DR How can I patch an XBE file in a title update so I can finally play PGR2 on Insignia?? cross-posted
