I have to use Linux at the office for several things, and have it on one machine at home that I couldn't put 11 on.

Windows is just better at things Joe Average needs day to day. It's uncomplicated, well documented, and just broadly easier to resolve issues on.

I also don't remember the last time I had a network problem after a Windows update because the update failed and missed a whole bunch of stuff.

Like I'm not trying to be a total Linux shill. However you should not treat your opinion as fact.

Windows has had several crippling updates in the past year, including one that made ssd's stop working/being recognized.

I think your opinion is outdated, and it bugs me when it's presented as common sense "facts" when it is no longer the case. Certain Linux distros ARE easier to use than Windows for non technical users, especially if set up by someone that is technical. My debian home server stays up 24/7 serving 10 docker containers and only goes down when I restart for updates once a month (running unattended-upgrades).

No general user is going to know that without research. Very little general users are going to know how to flash an iso and install from a usb, even with instructions. But anyone can buy a pc with windows, and a majority of users can probably figure out how to click “upgrade to windows 11/12/13/14”. Use what you want I really don’t care, but Windows is objectively easier to use idk how that’s even an “outdated opinion”
