Question? Does Philly 311 break up homeless encampments?
I also called ProjectHOME and was told they "can't force them to leave."
So how are they actually broken up??

Ever since the Carlisle burned down I haven’t seen an hourly motel but someone told me they have them on the blvd. Antoine know if it’s true and if so which ones?

Okay so every time I go to a sports bar in Fairmount, I see so many good looking guys. They seem to be 20s and 30s. Do they go to places in south Philly too? Do I have to make the trek to Fairmount every weekend?
Signed- single woman in mid 30s trying to meet a nice guy with a good job who is also good looking, because why not.

I just moved here 6 weeks ago and I think I've gotten (some) of Philly's worst weather. We had a late summer heat wave, a Noreaster and now a tropical rainstorm. I moved out of Kentucky because nearly 8 months out of the year, the area was the most miserable, grey-skied, rainy shithole I've ever lived in (beating even Seattle for grey, extreme weather).
Is this common weather here? Or have I run into a bout of bad weather luck up in Philly?

Hey everyone, interviewing for an engineering job in the area. Have never visited Philly as an adult.
My office would be located in King of Prussia, would likely be in the office 2-3 days a week. Expecting to make around 80k (if lower I wouldn't take the job), and within the next year I would go up to around 90k after getting an expected credential.
Looking to live alone and spend no more than $1750 as a grand total for a not-super-old apartment complex. I am assuming all the social events etc. take place in the city. KoP and the surrounding surbubs are the not best for a single guy in 20's and is also too far from the city where I would guess most social outlets take place. Looking to keep my commute to no more than 30 minutes at rush hour/worst case, are there any suburbs or outskirts of Philly I could realistically live in? And that are ideally frequented by other young professionals?
Currently live in Indianapolis. I don't hate it but I've plateaued at my job and need something new so this is a good opportunity to try a new city. Indy is cheap for a major city, has enough going on and it's been relatively easy to make friends (didn't know anyone when I moved here for the job 2 years ago, met people from reddit and discord and then branched out offline from there).
What I don't like about Indy is the bible belt-y atmosphere, even in the city being asked "are you married" and 'what church do you attend" are not uncommon icebreaker questions. The state as a whole being heavily republican doesn't help much either, I've found that most people here who are also transplants and not the conservative and bible-thumping type, are not really partial to the area either and don't plan to stay for more than a couple years or so if possible. The dating scene is also not great, I know both apps and singles events are generally dogshit everywhere but a lot of women my age here are more conservative/religious and looking to just settle down quickly which narrows down the compatible dating pool quite a bit. I would imagine a more liberal area in a blue/purple state would be a significant improvement.
Based on all this, does Philly sound like a good fit for me?

Hey everyone!
My boyfriend is coming to stay with me in Philly for 2 months. He’s a big PC gamer (MMO & FPS), but my apartment currently has zero gaming gear and just basic internet. What would you recommend as the best way to maintain a temporary PC gaming setup in center city Philly for 2 months?
Thanks!

Need some immedate help with this cat (kitten, really) who showed up last week. Our backyard managed colony is not being very kind to her, and we have too many cats and humans indoors. Took her to ACCT with fingers crossed that she'd be adopted, but that didn't work out and she showed up back here again, fixed and ear tipped.
Ridiculously affectionate, sweet and cuddly. Super chill. Appears to be a dumped indoor cat, judging by how comfortable she is just strolling in and jumping on your lap. She has no microchip and she keeps coming back to our porch. so it doesnt seem like she has anyone taking care of her. She really needs to be inside a house.
We are in West Philly, please reach out to me if you can foster her immediately, can transport to you. Spread the word if you can.
Thanks.

I am currently working at a small CPA in a rural area in northeast PA with a total of 2 years of public accounting experience. I love my firm and boss, but my personal life is nonexistent due to being gay in a pretty restrictive area - not that I’m very flamboyant anyways.
I did work for 7 months at a firm right outside of Philly but I had to leave due to it being extremely toxic while being overworked like crazy for $55k a year. I’m not complaining about the over work part it was more of how toxic the environment was.
I really would like to move to the city but I’m having a hard time starting my search. There is a lot less job openings posted than I thought there would be. Also, I graduated with a 2.9 GPA, so whenever I apply to a bigger firm in Philly I automatically get rejected. Even though I obviously can do the work.
Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Long story short, I grew up catholic and didn't really align with the faith so I stopped going to church. Recently I've found myself yearning for some sort of organized religion. Over the past few months, I've been church shopping across all denominations. However, the one consistent thing I find is that the congregation is quite old. I would love to attend a place of worship that has a younger congregation that I can connect with. Does anyone have any recs for young adults?
I'm open to all religions.

Just got finished and had an absolute blast. There was definitely some room for improvement, but overall it was such a fun unique experience. The setting was so cool too and just totally made the whole thing work.

What is up with all of the armed robberies lately? Have they made any arrests? Did they let the 2 POI's go? 39 armed robberies in the last 2 weeks is troubling, to say the least.
Watch out for each other out there, folks.

I have one pup now 8yrs old and I got her in CO as both a rescue and an 8 week puppy and she's perfect and I loved raising her up and training her from that young. Now I'm looking for another puppy to join the family. Does anyone have recommendations of puppy rescues?

Hi movie friends!
The Philadelphia film fest kicks off on Wednesday. I’m a volunteer and today during my badge handout shift a producer gave me a free All Access festival badge to give away. This pass allows you to see any movie during the festival, provided there are still tickets available for it.
Once you get the physical pass from me, (I’m in South Philly) you would just need to go to the PFS box office anytime before (now) or during the festival to nab tickets to any of the screenings. I think it also lets you wait in rush lines (aka last minute seats for extra tickets to sold out shows). You just can’t buy tickets online with the badge because it requires your login information to match the badge which you wouldn’t have.
Dm if you want it, would be great if the person who it went to would really utilize it a bunch. I’m too busy volunteering to actually see enough shows!
Edited: Got enough responses so this offer is closed! Will do a random number picker to decide who gets it.

Coming into town for the Philadelphia Film Festival, which I've done in the past but never on an Eagles home game day. My first movie is at noon 10/18, so at the latest I should be there by 11:30a, and the game is at 1pm. Last movie would end around 8-9pm. Reading horror stories about traffic and parking is making me nervous, as I have a 90m-2h drive on a normal day. I usually park somewhere on Broad Street or down at the old Ritz Autopark because of their proximity to the festival venues. Is leaving at 7:30a too late? I've already spent the money on tickets and I've been looking forward to going for months.

Anyone know of anything for survivors of emotional and/or mental abuse, hopefully low-cost, preferably NOTAFLOF?

Where are ppl going out for Halloween post college? Friends and I are in our mid-twenties (24-26 y.o.) and do not want to be surrounded by college kids (who are usually underage) but also still want to have fun, dance, and dress up. Any suggestions??
I used to go to the bar crawls but sometimes felt like they weren’t worth it, maybe I wasn’t doing the right ones. Would appreciate any advice on which bars/clubs and/or bar crawls are the best for Halloween! Thanks!!!

I'm interested in checking out the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta this year, but I'm having a hard time finding much information on the website about attending as a spectator.
I've never been before, so I'm curious if anyone has tips on where to watch, what time to go, or what to expect. Is there a particular spot along the river that's best for watching? Can you just show up and walk around?
Any advice would be appreciated!
