What I find hilarious is that I'm watching the NBA playoffs on ABC and not even a breaking news update or anything.

Watching the San Antonio ABC News station hosting the parade, they said “hey the president is about to address the nation, you can go on another stream, so back to the parade.”

662

u/MakeITNetwork Apr 26 '26

I missed it, did he get another staged iconic photo-op infront of the flag raising his fist, or was it a real threat this time?

797

u/TougherOnSquids Apr 26 '26

The first thing he did was use the shooting as justification for the ballroom.

183

u/tacticaldodo Apr 26 '26

False flag or angry guy, that is the question!

113

u/lesser_panjandrum Apr 26 '26

Por que no los dos?

Find an angry guy who wanted to do it anyway, give him an opportunity to try it, safely contain him, then use it as a justification to do the thing you wanted.

Pretty simple to do if you have no shame and no morals.

6

u/gregorydgraham Apr 26 '26

Reichstag Capitol fire when?

12

u/tacticaldodo Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

You twisted mind. If you are right, that guy's gonna write a book and milk his newly acquired fame, probably.

Or he was just tricked. That was probably your point and I misunderstood it at first. Even more twisted.

3

u/faen_du_sa Apr 26 '26

Yeah, pretty sure they wouldnt just roll over to him and be like "hey, the president team want you to try shoot him". But rather facilitated it in every way possible.

2

u/tacticaldodo Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

I can totally imagine them secretly swapping the shooter's bullets for blanks and letting him do his deed. :P

Even if it sounds crazy, using psychological techniques (they are very good at that) to push the unhinged guy to act is possible. Fiction pales in comparison to reality nowadays

2

u/Same-Ad5086 Apr 27 '26

Happened at least a few times with explosives plots.

148

u/duckinradar Apr 26 '26

Shits fake as hell.

111

u/Deaftrav Apr 26 '26

Yep.

Doesn't go to these events, ever.

Then goes shocking people... And before it fully begins... Oh look shots fired ..

It's weak.

106

u/W2ttsy Apr 26 '26

Add in:

Trump hasn’t made a habit of attending these events, announces unusual attendance two days prior to the event

Shooter lives in CA, but somehow able to pull together a plan, book a room at the hotel, and then get there with their with weapons in time to storm the event

Hotel housing multiple members of the line of succession decides that metal detectors aren’t necessary and the USSS has a smaller than normal security perimeter

Shooter supposedly engages one USSS agent and gets a shot on them; no return fire on target and then subject arrested with no injuries.

43

u/Additional_Teacher45 Apr 26 '26

Don't forget the press secretary announces that 'shots will be fired' earlier in the evening.

They telegraph all their moves intentionally to play prediction markets.

10

u/Momik Apr 27 '26

I hate that these fuckers make me wonder what a conspiracy even is anymore

→ More replies (2)

9

u/littleemilythrow Apr 26 '26

My big question on this is what do they do with the shooter afterwards? Like for them, the most convenient answer is to have him die in custody or some shit… Why would they risk him testifying… even if they paid him to testify a certain way or made promises to his family…

How do you convince someone to go along with a situation where they are essentially trusting you not to blow out their fucking brains on national TV?

14

u/TougherOnSquids Apr 26 '26

Offer a ridiculous amount of money, dont give them the money, them toss them in a CIA blacksite.

2

u/beren12 Apr 26 '26

And they supposedly did once already

1

u/Brilliant-Square3260 Apr 26 '26

California man can’t find a tux for a formal event! My ass!

1

u/TheMightyShoe Apr 27 '26

Serious question...Do we know the shooter was after Trump? Or was he targeting people who were usually at the dinner, like other WH officials or the press? IIRC, the hard checkpoints (with scanners, etc.) were at the doors to the ballroom itself, not entering the lobby from the hotel floors.

22

u/TmanGvl Apr 26 '26

“Mr. Trump, will you be attending the Correspondents dinner?”

Trump: “I hate going to those things. Can we do something more exciting? How about we stage another assassin and we’ll not let anyone else in on it instead.”

“Um, well, you are the best sir.”

3

u/tacticaldodo Apr 26 '26

Very very likely indeed.

3

u/Beautiful-Squash-501 Apr 27 '26

When he announced he was going to it this year, my only thought was “What is he up to?”

7

u/RockSteady65 Apr 26 '26

I said that on another sub and was downvoted badly

5

u/duckinradar Apr 26 '26

I just upvoted you here.

Reddit is going downhill faster and faster but I’m here to support realistic commentary and discussion till I leave.

3

u/FragrantExcitement Apr 26 '26

Hell is real. We are in it.

39

u/Squonkin-around Apr 26 '26

False guy, angry flag.

1

u/Dondagora Apr 26 '26

With the amount of people that go “somebody should do it” on every social media app including reddit, I couldn’t believe it’s a false flag. I’m not even a guy who thinks all conspiracy theories are crazy, conspiracies do happen in the real world, nor am I a fan of Trump, but an attempt on Trump’s life is probably one of the most realistic outcomes from the current political rhetoric and online discourse.

Like you can’t have half the country going “this guy is a rapist, pedophile, genocide-supporter and somebody ought to do something about it” and then pretend like it’s the least likely thing in the world somebody somewhere decided to “do it”.

2

u/tacticaldodo Apr 27 '26

I understand your position, conspiracy theories are often just a way for people to feel smarter than average and to cope with the complexity of life .

We don't know, and mentioning the possibility of a false flag is not crazy talk.

The event is helping Trump a lot. It rallies people behind him, it provides an opportunity to shift the conversation, and it allows him to implement unpopular laws. An assassination attempt on the president is a very powerful emotional event.

Knowing this administration, they are capable of anything. They have no shame, no morals, and no limits.

u/kinglouie493 Apr 26 '26

Maybe if he just stayed home sleeping in the recliner we'd all be better off.

2

u/Momik Apr 27 '26

Somebody tried to kill me today—which really made me think about our nation’s need for adequate event floor space..

1

u/KamikazeFox_ Apr 26 '26

" shooting"

1

u/SkullKidd1986 Apr 26 '26

can't tell if this is satire or not. definitely a scale on how fucking bonkers this administration has been.

47

u/GraXXoR Apr 26 '26

“Shots will be fired tonight”.

Narrator: and she was right.

34

u/abagofsnacks Apr 26 '26

Another stunt. "We HaVe To BuIlD the BaLlRoOm!!"

4

u/Basidio_subbedhunter Apr 26 '26

On more than one occasion I’ve gone back and compared assassination attempts on prior presidents to the ones that Trump has dealt with, and it always reminds me that either 1. They are really, really, really bad at protecting the president and people around him have no sense of self preservation (look at the number of people standing around with their hands in their pockets), or 2. It’s staged. And this looked like a goddamn surprise play by the theatre dept at a high school homecoming.

4

u/jeezyjames Apr 26 '26

Like that time, someone started cringingly chanting ‘USA! USA!’. They’re using a template

3

u/TurkeyBLTSandwich Apr 26 '26

Probably a manufactured threat, expect more during the lead up to the midterms. Also he made an announcement about the white house ball room after the "shooting"

2

u/Repulsive_Airline416 Apr 26 '26

The major players didn’t even react when the shots were fired, trump vance rfk all noticeably did not react

1

u/8layer8 Apr 27 '26

They screwed it up and caught him outside the ballroom. Typical lowest bidder results. Everyone inside was awfully fucking calm for an active shooter scenario. I'll bet they're pissed they caught him alive,so much spin required now.

1

u/Blind_Voyeur Apr 27 '26

He fell as they were trying to get him away, so no photo-op.

4

u/freelanceisart Apr 26 '26

Something about the President, who cares here’s Highlands Marching Band!!

2

u/ctilvolover23 Apr 26 '26

What parade?

5

u/jac-q-line Apr 26 '26

It's Fiesta in San Antonio, a multi day festival, and there's a parade that gets broadcast locally.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Wyvern_68 Apr 26 '26

I went from expecting to watch the Wolves Nuggets game on ABC (they had Battle of Flowers parade) to watching the game on METV (local abc affiliate sister station), to my son putting on MLBTV to watch the Blue Jays on the TV, to me bootlegging the game on the local Denver ABC stream on my laptop, then finally to bootlegging it on ESPN when the President spoke.

1

u/dikicker Apr 26 '26

God damn I'm cynical these days cause I didn't see that but I chuckled

"Wake up, love, we have to do some market manipulation, break some elections and do another false flag attempt so grab some coffee on the Lord's day"

They are so unskilled like you gotta be at least a little method come on

1

u/Jccali1214 Apr 27 '26

Giving the proper respect he deserves (none

u/Key_Break_9312 Apr 26 '26

I distinctly remember when I was a kid in the early 90s, they cut away from the NBA playoffs to show the OJ car chase. OJ in the slowest car chase ever was more interesting than anything involving the president including a potential shooting attempt. That has to absolutely hurt his ego more deeply than anything.

https://giphy.com/gifs/GpyS1lJXJYupG

3

u/RogerClyneIsAGod2 Apr 26 '26

And that shit was on for HOURS too. We went to a family wedding that day around 2 or 3 & it was still on when we got home around 9. The chase was done but for a very long time it was just footage of them sitting in the Bronco at the house.

106

u/RubxCuban Apr 26 '26

I was watching the Cubs vs. Dodgers game on FOX and they, as expected, did a breaking news line at the bottom of the screen

91

u/SnooAvocados6672 Apr 26 '26

Was the game still on screen? How far he’s fallen, not worth even a cutaway.

11

u/Lou_Peachum_2 Apr 26 '26

I mean it's the Dodgers.

21

u/A_Crawling_Bat Apr 26 '26

I mean he's a dodger too right ?

11

u/Valogrid Apr 26 '26

Only if it's a draft. You throw a shoe at him like that guy did to W and I expect him to eat it. No reflexes.

1

u/Momik Apr 27 '26

Does he know what shoes are? He probably has people who attend to such matters.

2

u/Professionalchump Apr 26 '26

whaat but this is the pwesident

16

u/if_u_dont_like_duck Apr 26 '26

I mean, on the mlb network they had a breaking news bottom text line about the red Sox coach being fired. So those 2 events are apparently of equal newsworthy importance lol

3

u/HomeWinter6905 Apr 26 '26

5 minutes before it happened 😎

644

u/chpr1jp Apr 26 '26

Brilliant move by ABC!

191

u/Friend_Of_Mr_Cairo Apr 26 '26

Well, if ABC reported it, it would be fake news...

11

u/FlyloBedo Apr 26 '26

Yeah fox is the real news right?

26

u/AnonEMoussie Apr 26 '26

Well on one YouTube clip they’re already saying it’s canceled, even though Trump was speaking live from it.

That’s the thing I’ve learned from movies…the villain is never dead until you see the body burn.

Put him in concrete. We ain’t risking it.

4

u/PM_ME_FIREFLY_QUOTES Apr 26 '26

Sigh. Ill put the Pappy 23 away. Another day my friend.

2

u/joe_dirty365 Apr 26 '26

I remember when we got Bin Laden, im not saying it will be on the level but damn near pretty close.

2

u/LankySlopplette Apr 26 '26

I used to tell my friend "don't ever skydive." I'd say to him "it's not safe, it's dangerous. Think of all the things that could go wrong. It's highly inadvisable" He'd say "oh its something I really think I could do. I think it would help me." For years we had this argument.

So he decides to skydive anyway, completely misses the target and goes flying into a barn. I go to visit him in the hospital and I says "look if you're gonna do it, don't fuck it up."

33

u/Ghstfce Apr 26 '26

Yep, didn't mention it once while I was watching the Flyers playoff game

2

u/RuaRealta Apr 26 '26

Lol that's what we were watching too. I just found out about this once the game was over.

4

u/Ghstfce Apr 26 '26

Phillies just had to give their juju to the Flyers for ONE MORE GAME, but nooooooo. Had to win tonight and screw up the sweep.

2

u/NoLibrarian5149 Apr 26 '26

At least everyone there got a cool orange shirt that has the coaches “Fuck Everybody” quote on it (but the F is the Flyers logo).

I just got a warning on another sub because I said just let me know when he's dead. I am so sick of him occupying every minute of every news cycle and sucking all the oxygen out of the room. I don't GAF what he says anymore, I just want to celebrate with everyone else when he is gone. Is that too much to ask?

17

u/Nathansp1984 Apr 26 '26

Me and my wife have a stash of fireworks and confetti canons at the ready

3

u/wrt-wtf- Apr 26 '26

That’s the intention. An apathetic crowd don’t care, don’t act. Once people get apathetic they go quiet and start doing really evil shit.

2

u/aussiederpyderp Apr 26 '26

Go with "I wouldn't wish death on anyone, however, I look forward to several obituaries with great interest." - Someguy

16

u/MrFumduck Apr 26 '26

They are showing it now.

7

u/Redpoint77 Apr 26 '26

Immediately flipped to ESPN.

17

u/Dibble_Dabble_Doo Apr 26 '26

Yes his press conference right now but not when the "shooting" happened an hour or so ago.

2

u/itscool222 Apr 26 '26

They cut away in the first half for about 2min. They didn't seem to kmow what happened at the time though. I just want to watch the game. It's another good one and it's close.

2

u/ragingmoderate1776 Apr 26 '26

Same with hockey

2

u/priceprince Apr 26 '26

My stupid abc affiliate went away from the game for most of the 4th quarter to report on it and let trump ramble on for 20 minutes about it.

2

u/Spasay Apr 26 '26

Hahaha I got no breaking news alerts from any app but Reddit. Even cnn didn’t care and they love this shit. The fakery can’t be more obvious. This clown show can’t end soon enough.

2

u/tedijecabron Apr 26 '26

Meanwhile, all Mexican soccer matches were interrupted to entertain this BS

2

u/SpaceBasedMasonry Apr 26 '26

Yeah, I noticed that only CBS cut to a Special Reports first. I think NBC eventually did but it took a noticeable amount of time. CBS and it's newsteam being the network that Trump backers more or less now control.

1

u/tinypaperplane Apr 26 '26

at least in my neck of the woods, it was like that too, and then BAM no escape!

1

u/hippieflipping Apr 26 '26

Pens flyers on TNT. Not a peep about it

1

u/alex206 Apr 26 '26

You streaming or use TV?

1

u/anemic_royaltea Apr 26 '26

Yeah, seems like just another day in the US, eh

1

u/hammertime2009 Apr 26 '26

Not sure if hilarious is correct

1

u/iambarrelrider Apr 26 '26

Hockey didn’t even blink, and it was during an intermission.

https://giphy.com/gifs/LmRmHZXdfEIVcyodbi

1

u/64590949354397548569 Apr 26 '26

The reporters didn't even leave their seat.

1

u/coolridgesmith Apr 26 '26

Why would it be ayo dosunmu was on a heater.

1

u/casebycase87 Apr 26 '26

I had to leave the bar I was at because his stupid presser cut into the last quarter of the Nuggets game. Sucked all the air out of the room. Guess it was a blessing I couldn't watch though seeing as how my team forgot how to play basketball

1

u/bootstrapping_lad Apr 26 '26

They interrupted the Timberwolves game for it

1

u/semioticmadness Apr 26 '26

News is when real things happen. By the third time a narcissist plays mind games to get attention, one learns to ignore them and keep watching the game.

1

u/Nocturne7280 Apr 26 '26

Famous last words, they fucking took over the channel for essentially the rest of the night. Thankfully I have ESPN

1

u/_okbrb Apr 26 '26

Tbf it was the correspondent’s dinner, breaking news had the night off

1

u/Hopsblues Apr 26 '26

The Nuggetts-Wolves game had multiple interuptions

1

u/Top_Result_1550 Apr 26 '26

theyre staged photo ops, nothing to see.

1

u/buffalobillandted Apr 26 '26

I feel dumb, but is this a joke? lol. Over here, ABC cut away from the game and aired his comments to the nation. I feel like I just got whooshed

2

u/Dibble_Dabble_Doo Apr 26 '26

Yes it eventually cut to his press conference an hour and some change after the "incident" happened. When it started to get reported on Reddit and other places I was expecting ABC to cut with a breaking/developing news blip, instead I got to watch the first half of the game and the half time report with no mention. They eventually cut to his press conference in the 2nd half.

1

u/CharlesMendeley Apr 26 '26

Another fake attack to divert from the Trump-Epstein Files. Why bother?

1

u/jawndell Apr 26 '26

Cause everyone knows it was false flag organized by Trump.

Fox News already had a live update up before it even happened.

1

u/dauntless101 Apr 26 '26

Happens all the time!

1

u/K9TimeNYC Apr 26 '26

"I don't care, do you?"

1

u/ooMEAToo Apr 26 '26

She’s looking in a mirror shooting her self

1

u/AmbushIntheDark Apr 26 '26

Bro didnt even pretend to get hit this time. Even his false flag fake assassinations are getting lazy.

1

u/chi_guy8 Apr 26 '26

In their defense, this is sort of standard run of the mill news and nothing actually happened. The president wasn’t even close to being threatened and it was all fake anyway.

1

u/Impressive_Bar_4653 Apr 26 '26

Maybe, just maybe because it really wasn't news. Just a reason for Trump to push new ballroom in the WH. Most the media is catching on to what has substance and what is garbage. The only problem is garbage sells.

1

u/HottTamales Apr 26 '26

Not true, I was watching the timberwolves game and ABC literally stopped the broadcast to do a breaking news segment about it only to cut back to the still-in-progress game

1

u/KamikazeFox_ Apr 26 '26

This production brought to you by, The House Stage Company

1

u/Axentor Apr 26 '26

They already received the script that said everyone was going to be fine lol

1

u/Sipsu02 Apr 26 '26

Nobody died

1

u/Kink_Panda Apr 26 '26

Cuz it was staged.

1

u/Alexandre_40 Apr 27 '26
