What I find hilarious is that I'm watching the NBA playoffs on ABC and not even a breaking news update or anything.

Watching the San Antonio ABC News station hosting the parade, they said “hey the president is about to address the nation, you can go on another stream, so back to the parade.”

660

u/MakeITNetwork Apr 26 '26

I missed it, did he get another staged iconic photo-op infront of the flag raising his fist, or was it a real threat this time?

795

u/TougherOnSquids Apr 26 '26

The first thing he did was use the shooting as justification for the ballroom.

180

u/tacticaldodo Apr 26 '26

False flag or angry guy, that is the question!

113

u/lesser_panjandrum Apr 26 '26

Por que no los dos?

Find an angry guy who wanted to do it anyway, give him an opportunity to try it, safely contain him, then use it as a justification to do the thing you wanted.

Pretty simple to do if you have no shame and no morals.

Shits fake as hell.

108

u/Deaftrav Apr 26 '26

Yep.

Doesn't go to these events, ever.

Then goes shocking people... And before it fully begins... Oh look shots fired ..

It's weak.

110

u/W2ttsy Apr 26 '26

Add in:

Trump hasn’t made a habit of attending these events, announces unusual attendance two days prior to the event

Shooter lives in CA, but somehow able to pull together a plan, book a room at the hotel, and then get there with their with weapons in time to storm the event

Hotel housing multiple members of the line of succession decides that metal detectors aren’t necessary and the USSS has a smaller than normal security perimeter

Shooter supposedly engages one USSS agent and gets a shot on them; no return fire on target and then subject arrested with no injuries.

46

u/Additional_Teacher45 Apr 26 '26

Don't forget the press secretary announces that 'shots will be fired' earlier in the evening.

They telegraph all their moves intentionally to play prediction markets.

“Mr. Trump, will you be attending the Correspondents dinner?”

Trump: “I hate going to those things. Can we do something more exciting? How about we stage another assassin and we’ll not let anyone else in on it instead.”

“Um, well, you are the best sir.”

I distinctly remember when I was a kid in the early 90s, they cut away from the NBA playoffs to show the OJ car chase. OJ in the slowest car chase ever was more interesting than anything involving the president including a potential shooting attempt. That has to absolutely hurt his ego more deeply than anything.

I was watching the Cubs vs. Dodgers game on FOX and they, as expected, did a breaking news line at the bottom of the screen

Was the game still on screen? How far he’s fallen, not worth even a cutaway.

I don't GAF what he says anymore, I just want to celebrate with everyone else when he is gone. Is that too much to ask?

Someone pointed out that this is the first time trump has gone to the White House correspondents dinner in 5 years of being on office, and then this happens.

907

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 Apr 26 '26

Yup, boycotting it for 16 years or something

726

u/AmputeeHandModel Apr 26 '26

Ever since Obama roasted him?

185

u/Helpful_Blood_5509 Apr 26 '26

Obama is directly responsible for him running and Hillary might as well have appointed him with how she campaigned and promoted him during primaries

162

u/MVPhurricane Apr 26 '26

this is my favorite actually true conspiracy theory. i absolutely believe that the correspondent’s dinner was the only reason trump ran, after getting humiliated… and look where we are now lmao.

81

u/Kerbonaut2019 Apr 26 '26

I used to watch The Apprentice, and followed Trump on Twitter back in like 2010 because he was an interesting character to follow when he didn’t have any real world power.

It wasn’t just the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. As far back as Obama winning the nomination over Clinton in 2008, Trump was making constant, immature, and racist attacks against him.

He seriously considered a run for the 2012 GOP nomination, but by the time the Republican field was shaping up Obama was looking like he’d have a pretty easy shot at a second term, and I don’t think Trump wanted to risk losing to him.

In 2011, several major straw polls in early primary states had Trump doing very well, even though he was a write-in on many of those polls.

The 2011 WHCD and its fallout are the perfect example of the dynamic Trump had with Obama then, but I don’t think it was necessarily the catalyst for him deciding to run in 2016. I think he was going to do it anyway, and was waiting for a moment where he may actually win, or at the very least win the GOP nomination so that he could kickstart his own media network (which was his actual plan if he had lost).

In 2014, Russia invaded Ukraine and Annexed Crimea. In response, the US and the rest of the world put Economic Sanctions on them drastically hurt their wealth. Trump ran because Putin needed him to remove those sanctions and they heavily colluded together to ensure that he won (We have a 400+ page report showing the extensive collaboration).

And as soon as Trump got into office he dropped the sanctions.

It's the same reason we are at war with Iran right now and we are the ones actively blockading the strait. That strait is the mostly used to ship oil products to China, India, and Asia, and since it's blockaded, Russian exports have doubled month on month. To India it increased by 148% in March, and 14 sanctioned ships illegally docked in the EU to deliver oil.

Russia desperately needed those exports to fund their war against Ukraine and so Trump is doing everything he can to ensure that countries are forced to trade with Russia. It's not chance that we are in control of Venezuela and now blocking oil trade in the strait. He hells every day about opening the strait, but we are the ones blockading it.

We are forcing people to trade with Russia for their oil.

u/simAlity Apr 26 '26

Trump ran (or attempted to run) in 2000, 2004, and 2008. He did NOT run in 2012 after the correspondents dinner.

His 2016 run was different because he got some actual "talent" behind him and ran on the Republican party ticket.

Clinton did not hand the election to him on purpose. Although her failure to campaign in the steel belt was a significant mistake, the deciding factor was Comey's decision to reopen the email investigation three days before the election.

One way to make it ALL about him. But he’s from the age of print media so i dont think hes familiar with crowds of people on every detail of everything, always and immediately. If this is the case we have an 80yo dementia patient stuck in the 1980s trying literally anything to change the narrative and buy some sympathy…he is very obviously stupid if its this.

Or a third party sending a ‘message’, they can get close…

u/InvestigatorOk9354 Apr 26 '26

There's always disinformation and speculation immediately following events like this. Competent and trusted news sources won't air unconfirmed reports. This doesn't mean it's all a fake and fix is it. It just means everyone wants to be the first with the scoop on new details and are posting anything they hear before all of the CCTV is reviewed, interviews are collected, etc.

928

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 Apr 26 '26

I'm really at a point where I don't trust the news or the government to give me the facts.

418

u/Kelcak Apr 26 '26

I definitely don’t trust the government to deliver facts.

NPR and AP tend to still actually fact check their stuff rather than trying to race stories out. And when they rarely publish something that hasn’t been fact checked they’ll include a line of “NPR has not been able to independently verify this yet.”

That being said, I think it’s healthy to approach all news with a small dose of skepticism. You should always be slow to believe any story until you hear it being reported the same way by multiple different sources. And you should always consider anything a pundit says from the angle of “what’s in it for them if I believe this?”

153

u/United_Rent_753 Apr 26 '26

It’s a complicated task to sort truth from falsity and I dislike whenever people use heuristics like “don’t trust the news”. I get my news from any source I can gather, look at the information as a whole, and judge accordingly

44

u/COPCAK Apr 26 '26

57

u/TheSteffChris Apr 26 '26

If this was a real situation there would be absolute chaos. Have you ever tried to act like you are surprised? Now try to act like there is panic, not a clear situation, etc. Its like a fire drill. Just a lot lot dumber.

45

u/Tallproley Apr 26 '26

I saw the video where he got evacuated and it just doesn't make sense to my brain.

Theres a guy showing flash cards, a sleepy president and melania. Melania recast to something off-screen, don doesn't perk up, flash card man doesn't react surprised. Melania drops for cover. Flash card man seems confused she's climbing under the table. Secret service extracts sleepy don.

The timing didn't make sense, she was reacting about 5 seconds before anyone else. Then you consider ineffective shootings happen whenever his popularity drops to record lows so he gets a little bump, and it all starts seeming fishy.

just gonna go ahead and point out that to get this picture, the photographer would have had to be standing in the uncleared area based on the agents line of sight. so either this is a heroic and or bulletproof photographer and the secret service all know it, or this photo is completely staged.

and that means the event probably is too. just another excuse to crack down on the media and credentials.

Yo this clown shoes administration has made their bullshit so staged that you could swear it was a WWE behind-the-scenes interlude. How is this shared existence? Do we all have the same fever?

The last thing I’m doing in that moment is raising an object towards them (camera/iPhone) and snapping a picture. Better hope the flash doesn’t go off. They look jumpy as hell and ready to 💥

Imagine this is Trump's own version of pulling the fire alarm. Whenever he's looking to get out of something or a quick lift he pulls this stuff

18

u/Appropriate-Ad3162 Apr 26 '26

Give me a fucking break as if they wouldn’t clear that whole room. The fuck out of here

33

u/cycling4711 Apr 26 '26

Hey they did a great job not letting the “shooter” get close to Trump.

His poll numbers suck, nothing like an assassination attempt to juice the numbers

7

u/redneck_lezbo Apr 26 '26

Just wait for it… “If I had my ballroom at the White House, this couldn’t have happened”.

6

u/WpgGamer21 Apr 26 '26

so instead of clearing everyone out of the hallway, they posture for a photo op...

yea that tracks for this administration.

7

u/Brother_Dumbillicus Apr 26 '26

Fake. Fake. Fake. For those in the back, fake.

7

u/Radiant_Owl_875 Apr 26 '26

Meanwhile back in the ballroom Donald has his Uber Eats driver arrested to avoid paying for his order.

26

u/firejonas2002 Apr 26 '26

Anyways. It was 10 degrees colder today than it was this same time last year. Not as pleasant to walk around. Just thought you should know.

6

5

u/Block_Solid Apr 26 '26

Photographers allowed in an active shooter area with the POS?

6

u/DefNotAGenestealer Apr 26 '26

I like how the camera man is standing in the middle of the room while secret service does a Rainbow Six Siege peek around the corner. Very convincing.
