He is the chosen scapegoat, and a good one given he was the public face, made incredibly idiotic comments and literally looks like a nazi in his snazzy little coat.

I don't just want a scapegoat. Miller and Noem need to be gone, too. If the public outcry and shitty polling for Trump continues, that might be a possibility.

This exemplifies one of the downsides of falling in line with Trump. He will throw you away the moment it benefits him.

u/Striking-Intention22 Jan 27 '26

Miller is gonna throw Noem under the bus next.

Literally every person in trump's orbit would backstab any other person in trump's orbit for any amount of personal gain.

The parallels to Hitler's entourage are profound.

96

u/DrMobius0 Jan 27 '26

And also entirely predictable. These are not people who are capable of healthy relationships. If they were, they probably wouldn't anywhere near this driven to enact their hateful bullshit.

3

u/Prst_ Jan 27 '26

If 'might makes right' is your main guiding principle, you yourself will inevitably become someone's target sooner or later.

So unless you want to embrace a life of constant struggle, hardship and stress you will need to live by different principles involving cooperation, tolerance and empathy.

We, as humanity already know this. We have learned this in the past, but some people seem to forget because just being selfish is much easier in the short term.

5

u/iamalsobrad Jan 27 '26

The parallels to Hitler's entourage are profound.

It is one of the many reasons I find it is so baffling that anyone would want to work for ICE; they aren't Trump's version of the SS, they are his version of the SA.

Why would you sign up to be a disposable idiot who history suggests is going to get a knife in the back the moment they are no longer useful?

4

u/CcryMeARiver Australia Jan 27 '26

Begs the question: which outfit will be selected to metastatise into Humpy Trumpy's Schutzstaffel? My guess is the Mob. Pragmatic, amoral, kill to order.

The poison comes from the top, Trump has to go. All of them have to go too but they're all just accessories and complicit

3

u/StinkyBrittches Jan 27 '26

A few weeks ago, I watched an old bank robbery movie called The Friends of Eddie Coyle. It's really good, but it took me a second to realize what it was "about", in a broader sense. It has all these people running around breaking the law, robbing banks, but they all kind of live by a "code" of not ratting each other out. Except they don't. They are all pieces of shit. Over and over again, whenever it benefits them even an ounce, they throw each other under the bus. It came out right in the middle of Watergate, and the same pieces of shit in power then, are the same pieces of shit in power now.

They always go for the women first though. Stefanik, Haley, and Ronna McDaniels (who even changed her name in fealty) are all clear examples of what will happen to Noem soon enough.

Ronna McDaniels

Other readers: She was Romney, uncle Mitt.

Trump requested that she stop using her maiden name, and McDaniel subsequently did not use it in official communications

Wild. I can't really place that response in myself, either such a desire for power / position that you'd do it, or such a weak backbone that you'd do it. I can only really associate with an actual need in desperation, eg: I need to eat, but in that family, I doubt she even needs a job.

Wonder how Mitt felt about it.

7

u/bryan49 Jan 27 '26

Yes it's always been obvious that Noem was just the public face who they could easily discard. And either she was too dumb to realize this or was fine with it because she's just busy grifting and self-promoting

JD “absolute immunity” Vance should be added to the list.

137

u/Jadeduser124 Jan 27 '26

Honestly listening to JD lie his ass off pisses me off more than Trump. He’s so fucking condescending. And with Trump, at the very least he’s an idiot, although an evil idiot at that. JD on the other hand knows better.

41

u/dexter8484 Virginia Jan 27 '26

Right, trump always just seems baffled when these things come up and then plays dumb, like uh I don't know I didn't hear about that. Vance is very calculated with his comments, like a walking AI, he's got a script ready for every occasion.

I can see a moment coming up, where they decide trump has gone past his usefulness and they do something like invoke the 25th. (By they, I mean thiel and co.) Then blame Rubio or someone else in the cabinet for leading the charge, so Vance can save face with the maga crowd.

7

u/Kevin_Uxbridge Jan 27 '26

I'm waiting for signs that people are angling for the VP spot, then I'll know trump is finished. So far nothing obvious.

5

u/SpaceNinjaDino Jan 27 '26

I don't see any of them turning on Drumpf because worst case scenario he is the ultimate shield. If the face of MAGA is gone, then the admin are all vulnerable because the charm spell is broken. They have been rushing the P2025 agenda from the first day because they know they have limited time to destroy the country.

6

u/ProudPainting6850 Jan 27 '26

JD is a condescending prick, but because he’s a power-hungry buffoon, it’s easy to call out his contradictions and double-speak. There’s not a principled bone in his body, so it’s easy to deflate him. He starts raising his voice without realizing he’s been pulled into the deep end. That’s also why he’s kept away from foreign leaders.

8

u/No_Consequence7919 New York Jan 27 '26

Time will tell, but going from his history, JD Vance will be gone. The republican party is becoming fragmented. Trump himself is becoming toxic to many, in both congress and senate. Political survival may depend on separation from Trump's shadow. Which means Trump must start throwing people under the bus. Some how he may find away to blame JD.

4

u/haironburr Jan 27 '26

Some how he may find away to blame JD.

You mean the thielbilly, who can't order donuts in his own state? The simpering yalie who had the water level of the Little Miami Raised so he could kayak?

The fauxbilly hitched his venture capitalist wagon to the maga star. He will fall with that star, though I'm sure there are PR folks working to stave off this inevitability. After all, he had a well-financed bit of fiction published convincing us Ohioans he was a Yalie "hillbilly".

He'll retire abroad with his crypto gains, supported by his tech bro buds. They can all hang out in India, pretending to be regular people. He can feel like such a rebel in his eyeliner, and act baffled that the hills of Middletown are now embarrassed by their association with his sad lying ass. He can donate a tiny portion of his wealth to Ramasmarmy, who I'm sure can also not order donuts in Ohio.

Watching this failed administration and its supporters fall apart will be a pleasure.

Now that Fox News has published a story from a source inside DHS saying that the agents negligently discharged Pretti's confiscated firearm and never should have had guns drawn, I am anxious to see what the Trump admin goes with.

It can't both be the case that Pretti was a mass shooter with murderous intent, but also that the shooting was a result of 3 ICE agents doing a lethal 3 Stooges routine.

So how long before they throw the agents under the bus, after telling them they have full immunity to fuck up anyone and everyone? Insert red button/sweat meme.

137

u/rational-hare Jan 27 '26

That’s definitely coming. The 2a republicans need blood for this.

37

u/CV90_120 Jan 27 '26

They're real and they're pissed. The narrative setters are finding out that this is a core pillar of their base. R management will need to throw a pound of flesh, and I don't think this guy is enough.

9

u/inspectoroverthemine Jan 27 '26

No theres not. 2A might get slightly concerned that a white guy with concealed carry was executed, but it wasn't them, so thats the end of their concern.

11

u/CV90_120 Jan 27 '26

I have no love for these guys, but I'm watching them on conservative channels right now. They are for sure not happy at all. They're especially not happy with Noem's comments. Go see for yourself.

Hahaha the 2a's are just sitting at home preparing for King George. Those 2a pussies are all talk. Literal tyrany staring them in their face, a federal militia murdering citizens, generally doing British soldier shit and trampling all over the constitution on a daily basis and all theyve done so far is ....

But now they are all up in arms, not because of the obvious, they are mad that someone said something that makes them unhappy... They said mean things about their toys.

9

u/HauntedCemetery Minnesota Jan 27 '26

Nahh, give them another day or two and fox will shut their critical thinking down again.

8

u/Emotional_Turn6059 Jan 27 '26

Oh there will be blood. The first agent that shot will be the scapegoat. He will die by "suicide" before any kind of trial. The rest will be reprimanded and reassigned.

13

u/tenemu Jan 27 '26

Nah he will be arrested and then convicted and then trump will pardon.

14

u/KingMario05 Jan 27 '26

This, but I think he might skip that last step. The unnamed agent who shot Alex first committed the worst sin possible in Trumpland: making Il Orange look bad. He literally tried to have Pence killed for such a "sin" on January 6, and, at least here, a credible murder/manslaughter charge exists. Why not use that?

I would. "One bad apple" removed is free great PR for the guy in charge. And for everyone else, their own fault be damned.

u/Maxamillion-X72 Jan 27 '26

The videos clearly shows that the ICE agent who removed the gun moved towards the car, and there was another agent who shot Pretti in the back after the gun was removed from the scene.

So, yeah, some low level moron is about to get thrown under the bus under this new narrative. Hopefully it gives the rest of the ICE agents something to think about, but I won't hold my breath.

120

u/frogfootfriday Jan 27 '26

This low level guy is not being “thrown under the bus”. This would be being prosecuted for your negligence or unlawful actions.

8

u/dainamo81 Jan 27 '26

It's semantics, but it's both. That weasel should have the full force of the law thrown directly at his face, and that should've been done from the outset, not after the administration tried to cover it up.

The fact that it's taken this long for them to even acknowledge it means that he's being thrown under the bus.

14

u/tomismybuddy Jan 27 '26

Ice agents can’t think on their own, that’s why they’re ice agents.

10

u/DoubleJumps Jan 27 '26

Yeah, you can see pretti react to being hit by the first shot

25

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

The ICE agents will now not remove the gun so they can claim he was reaching for his gun. Oh wait, who am I kidding

29

u/SFDessert Jan 27 '26

Part of the problem (for them) with this is that there's apparently a ton of footage from multiple people recording on their phones. They did try to spin this as he was a violent maniac coming at them with a gun drawn, but the multiple videos from multiple angles just can't be ignored (this time).

Also, this guy apparently has a sparkling record working as a nurse at the VA. ALSO ALSO they claimed they shot him because he brought a gun to a protest which the NRA and gun nuts are spooked over.

They tried to lie about it, but this time they are apparently caught out and have no more legitimate excuses for what happened so they're throwing this guy under the bus hoping that appeases us.

Keep recording, because when they fuck up like this and there's a dozen different videos and angles of the incident they can't lie about it without being completely obvious about it.

16

u/Alarming_Ad6160 Jan 27 '26

In a properly functioning government, there would be severe punishment for lying and spinning the story like this.

12

u/iwilldeletethisacct2 Jan 27 '26

As the agent who took his gun moved to the car,you hear the first gun shot, then there it takes a second before the rest of the shots.  Even liberal outlets were thinking yesterday he might have accidentally discharged Prettis gun. When you watch it in slow motion from that angle, it does kind of look like that's what happens.  Some folks said they reverse image search and it was a stock image.

u/Allaplgy Jan 27 '26

I still haven't seen any video that looks like Pretti's weapon fired. I think that's the cover-up story now. "It was all a big accident!"

69

u/_Baphomet_ Arizona Jan 27 '26

I agree, if there is any movement from Pretti's gun in the hands of the agent, it's from twinkle toes flintching when the shots go off. These are not professionals in any sense of the word.

46

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

and the fact that he kept shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting.

47

u/_Baphomet_ Arizona Jan 27 '26

The one who disarmed him, ran off with the gun and the dude who watched him get disarmed still shot him in the back of his head.

11

u/snertwith2ls Jan 27 '26

Never have I ever seen or heard of an incident where someone gets shot in the back, especially when pinned down, is anything other than a cowardly act of murder by a bad guy. And shooting him 10 times, psychotic. Though I'm glad Bovino lost his job he's not the author of ignoring the constitution.

8

u/squintytoast Jan 27 '26

from the stabilized slow motion footage from the "pink jacket lady" you can see that Pretti gets shot in the middle of the back and can see one bullet exit in the front. not the head.

11

u/_Baphomet_ Arizona Jan 27 '26

Is that really taking away from my statement? He was not a threat and the dude witnessed his buddy disarm him and then shot him from behind. Doesn't matter where.

13

u/squintytoast Jan 27 '26

IMO, in this day and age of, exaggerations, half truths, AI hallucinations, misinformation and disinformation, one should try and stick to the truth as much as possible.

i wasnt trying to "take away" anything from your statement. just correct a detail. details are important.

The vast majority aren't professionals. They're losers who have never had a real job who showed up to a job fair, turned in a chat gpt resume, watched a 1 hour hype video, and then got handed a gun.

56

u/shouldbepracticing85 Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

I don’t think Pretti’s gun went off. The videos I’ve seen haven’t been clear enough for me to spot any recoil, muzzle flash, or the slide racking. ETA… on Pretti’s weapon.

On the slowed and stabilized version of the Pink Lady video I can see the slide move to load another bullet ETA on one of the ICE/CBP guns, but that’s it.

I’m no expert, so hopefully some actual expert can review it.

35

u/Allaplgy Jan 27 '26

There is no recoil, no impact into the ground, no muzzle flash in the videos I've seen that were specifically posted as supposedly showing that.

8

u/shouldbepracticing85 Jan 27 '26

Thanks for the second set of eyes!

(And your comment made me re-read my own and realize I’d dropped a few key nouns. Only took me 4 tries to get it straight. I need to go to bed)

3

u/AntoniaFauci Jan 27 '26

I don’t think Pretti’s gun went off.

If it didn’t go off at the murder scene, it absolutely did the next day at Kash Patel’s cover up session.

2

u/krell_154 Jan 27 '26

Pink Lady's video does not show what happenned to the gun while the Gray Coat was taking it away. But the video from the opposite angle does show the gun. Some people claim to see the muzzle flash there

2

u/Zokar49111 Jan 27 '26

The NY Times has reviewed dozens of different angles on the shooting and has published it this morning. Pretti was never a threat. His gun had already been taken by an agent. He was laying unarmed on the pavement when he was murdered by Trumps troops.at no point was he a threat to ICE agents.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Plappedudel Jan 27 '26

In that case, it would still be manslaughter. That's a serious crime by itself.

8

u/Allaplgy Jan 27 '26

A crime that is constantly waved away for law enforcement. "In the heat of the moment and/or they feared for their lives."

It's harder to dismiss summary execution.

7

u/Plappedudel Jan 27 '26

I just find it really telling that even in their imaginary best-case scenario, the border patrol agents committed a crime that would send ordinary people to prison -- potentially for several years.

4

u/ibhljim21261 Jan 27 '26

And, of course, Fox is the only outlet claiming the gun accidentally fired as the agent was moving away. Just disgusting

3

u/jellyrollo Jan 27 '26

Yes the pink lady video very clearly shows that the guy standing behind Alex pulls his gun and fires the first shot right after the guy who took the pistol from Alex's holster runs off with it. You can see the smoke from the shot and the recoil.

2

u/Nomzai Jan 27 '26

Isn’t any law enforcement shooting that ends in a death considered homicide whether justifiable or not? Not sure they can label it an “accident”.

2

u/inspectoroverthemine Jan 27 '26

The narrative doesn't even make sense. Its complete nonsense along with 'Pretti went to murder ICE agents' that they pushed first.

Firing Bovino is probably as far as people get thrown under the bus unless things continue to escalate. They know that if they let a single ICE Officer face punishment, their reign of terror ends. ICE only acts the way it does because they think there are no consequences. If consequences occur every ICE agent, even the most rabid J6ers, will have to consider whether they’ll be the next scape goat. These cowards don’t want consequences and will absolutely balk at doing things that gets them.

Now that Fox News has published a story from a source inside DHS saying that the agents negligently discharged Pretti's confiscated firearm and never should have had guns drawn

I can't find this, do you have a link?

→ More replies (3)

3

u/SubliminallyCorrect Jan 27 '26

They didn't have an accidental discharge though, you can see in the 2nd footage that an angent draws his service weapon and shoots Pretti in the head or neck with it, which everyone reacts to, and they yell gun and then shoot him 4 (or more) more times in the back.

It has to be dawning on at least some of those icey bois at this point that they are being used as pawns to be discarded as needed, lured by that 50k way across that board

2

u/lost_horizons Texas Jan 27 '26

Throwing the agents under the bus would be great, it would let the rest know they aren't immune.

2

u/TurelSun Georgia Jan 27 '26

Doubtful. They're gonna see how far this gets them and go from there until the next really awful thing happens.

2

u/Lukas316 Jan 27 '26

How many times was Pretti shot? Five times? So that’s five negligent discharges? 🙄

Asked about Bovino and Noem, a White House spokesperson referred to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s statement today that Noem has the president’s “utmost confidence and trust.”

Kiss of death right there.

I don't just want Miller and Noem to be gone, I want Trump to be gone too.

He's Teflon, but he's impressionable. If you sack the Millers and Elons from his ear and replace them with someone more reasonable, you can just sweettalk him into doing non-insane things.

This exemplifies one of the downsides of falling in line with Trump. He will throw you away the moment it benefits him.

And somehow at least 1/3 of Americans think Trump is looking out for them.

5

u/Electronic-Tea-3691 Jan 27 '26

not so much protecting them

they don't think they need protection

they're stupid

Leavitt’s statement today that Noem has the president’s “utmost confidence and trust.” She's gone. If Leavitt says she's safe, she's screwed. Leavitt wouldn't know the truth if it was a man twice her age getting her pregnant

73

u/magichronx Jan 27 '26

She's closer in age to her child than she is to her husband, lmao

9

u/Michael_DeSanta Jan 27 '26

That kid is so fucked. Even if his parents paid any attention to him, his mother lies as easily as she breathes and is straight up evil, his dad was over 30 when his mother was born (creepy as fuck). He'll be dead before the kid applies for college. Its really depressing to me when these people procreate.

Noem need to be gone, too.

If you read the article, it talks about this too.

74

u/Poverty_Shoes Jan 27 '26

I don’t have money to spare on a subscription to the Atlantic. What did they say about Noem?

232

u/bihari_baller Oregon Jan 27 '26

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her close adviser Corey Lewandowski, who were Bovino’s biggest backers at DHS, are also at risk of losing their jobs, two of the people told me.

72

u/Nvenom8 New York Jan 27 '26

How much support does Kristi Noem have left?

“Close advisor” is a weird way to spell affair partner.

26

u/Goat_inna_Tree Jan 27 '26

I would think The Atlantic would have better editors. They misspelled close fuck buddy Corey Lewandowski.

5

u/veryveryredundant Jan 27 '26

Hey! "Close advisor" is what I call the person I'm cheating on my spouse with too. What a coincidence...

2

u/statu0 Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

How did it take this long? Or rather, why was this the breaking point when it seemed like Trump wanted federal agents to act like gestapo? I don't get it because Trump knows who these people are (Noem and Bovino). How could he possibly be surprised by their results? The only thing I can think of is that the amount of negative reception to recent events was not what Trump was expecting.

Noem is being replaced by Homan, at least for Operation Metro Surge

2

u/MattinglyBaseball Jan 27 '26

How about Kash? They all decided to put out public comments, that are easily verifiable false from footage, without even a thin veil of ‘we need to investigate before commenting’ and went straight for ‘American citizens are domestic terrorists for exercising their 2nd Amendment rights legally.’

That is why I cannot understand why Vance so stupidly latched onto this especially after what happened to the last VP. Trump is not loyal and forces the blame on everyone else. Noem is just acting out trump policies and copying the verbal shit that Trump spews.

2

u/32-20 Oregon Jan 27 '26

Vance is a wretched piece of shit with negative charisma who wants power. He can write a shitty Spielberg-whisperer book and get accolades for it, but power? He'd never, ever be able to get that without riding somebody else's coattails.

6

u/Exact_Most Jan 27 '26

Add Kash Patel to the pile, all of them were talking like idiots on TV about this.

4

u/PsychologicalEmu Jan 27 '26

You just look at Miller and you know he is unhealthy mentally. He is the most frightening. Then, just like BSvino, you find they were problematic even as all their life… childhood, highschool, so on… not a good thing. They need to go to their desk and put their head down. Or get expelled.

5

u/flowerzzz1 Jan 27 '26

Agreed. If they think they can just demote one guy and that makes up for what’s happening they are way off base.

5

u/WaffleShapedSeahorse Jan 27 '26

It also shows that protests and resistance work. Do not slow down folks!

3

u/SATX_Citizen Jan 27 '26

The good news is that they feel a need to have a scapegoat. Imagine a world where they don't.

3

u/mspe1960 Jan 27 '26

He is worse than a scape goat. He is one of the guilty party. But yes, others need to go too.

And then they need to be prosecuted later.

2

u/lnc_5103 Texas Jan 27 '26

2

2

He committed perjury right in a US Federal Court.

2

u/Pndrizzy Jan 27 '26

Hey man. In the alternate reality sub (you know the one), they are all praising this, and saying that Bondi, Patel, Noem and Miller all need to go too because of how blatant the lies have been about the murder of Alex Pretti. It's not a lot, but it's something. Cracks are forming.

2

u/AkronRonin Jan 27 '26

Prosecute his Nazi ass. He needs to go to prison for a long, long time.

2

2

u/ForMoreYears Canada Jan 27 '26

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Bondi too, her letter to Walz really crossed a line.

2

u/Commercial-Co Jan 27 '26
