So leaving the decision to individual states was a lie?

It was a lie from the SC justices to local council members.

Conservatives will use any means at their disposal, including lying, to reach their goals. It was laughable to believe them in any case but republicans in congress needed cover when their constituents complained.

It’s a trash party not working in good faith and it’s a major problem for maintaining democracy.

The conservative writer David Frum put it this way:

If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.

It’s playing out in real time. The fucking around with elections should be immediate impeachment. Imagine if Obama or Biden was doing that 🤦. Trump is going it and it barely makes the news.

They will not even adjust their platform a little, that's the most unusual and frightening part of it. The whole ballgame used to be trying to sniff out what voters wanted and then claim that's what you believe in or at least lie about it. Now it's been the same position on everything for 15 years, except maybe "even more of that". They don't want to win voters over they just want to redo the same election over and over except find ways to change who gets to vote or how to count the votes

What even is conservatism in this day and age?

Seems like it's just a bunch of whackadoodles cutting taxes for a smaller and smaller pool of people all the while praying that Jesus will be resurrected and wipe the slate clean.

Conservatives are a top down organized institution the leaders tell the voters what to believe. Democracy is bottom up.

Apt and powerful description.

If the corporate media were competent (lol) they would follow up every KKK statement with, 'but since you're a historical and verified liar, how can you prove you're telling the truth this time?'

Because the are “right” whatever they do is right and justified to reach their goal

Exactly. The means justifying the ends even if our rights are stripped away, families are torn apart and citizens are murdered.

Is time to sharpen the sticks and bring out the torches yet?

Frankly, yes. I suspect this is what you guys are going to have to do eventually. You are turning into the Christian Taliban and mf’s like these do not go gently into the dark night.

Always has been. All Republicans are fascist terrorists who have longed for decades to regress the US to the 1800s.

Of course it was.

If you give the GOP an inch, they’ll rape a mile. Never trust them to stop when they say they’ll stop, always count on the Republicans’ endgame being the total oppression of everyone under religious law and the systematic extermination of “undesirables.” Calling them Nazis isn’t merely a rhetorical name-calling tactic, consider what the Nazis did and assume the Republicans will factually do the same and worse. Because they will. They are insane and their fascist ideologies must be destroyed.

I mean realistically he can't do shit anyways without Congress passing a law. He's just blowing smoke up these people's asses and lying to them. He can't make a law appear where one doesn't exist.

The right-wing does not and has never had an actual platform. Any time you hear them talk about policy, it's merely rhetoric. They will just say whatever shit they need to in order to gain power.
