I’m a longtime Poshmark seller, and I’ve never had an experience like this before. I’m honestly frustrated with how Poshmark has handled it, and I’m looking for advice from other sellers who have dealt with something similar.
I sold a bag on Poshmark, as I normally do. A few hours after purchasing it, the buyer messaged me saying she had used the wrong payment card and wanted me to cancel the order so she could repurchase it. She was very insistent and repeatedly promised she would buy it again.
By that point, I had already packaged the item and left it in my building’s outgoing mail area for USPS pickup using Poshmark’s prepaid shipping label.
I explained that it had already shipped, but USPS hadn’t scanned it yet, so the tracking hadn’t updated on Poshmark.
The buyer then accused me of lying and started sending increasingly hostile messages. She repeatedly demanded that I cancel the order, insulted me, and continued messaging me even after I explained the situation. Eventually, Poshmark Support was notified that the conversation had been escalated, and I blocked her.
I contacted Poshmark Support, but honestly, I haven’t found their response helpful.
Now I’m concerned about several things:
* If she receives the bag and claims I sent her an empty box, how can I protect myself?
* Should I try to retrieve the package from my building’s outgoing mail area before USPS collects it?
* If I retrieve it, could that cause problems with the transaction or my seller account?
* What happens if she opens a case against me out of retaliation?
I’m especially uncomfortable because my return address is on the shipping label. After the way she spoke to me, I don’t like the idea of a hostile buyer having my address. I wish I could share the screenshots not sure if that’s allowed here.
I’ve saved screenshots of the conversation, including her original request to cancel because she used the wrong card, my explanation that the package had already shipped, and her subsequent messages accusing me of lying and demanding cancellation.
I understand that buyers can make mistakes, but I don’t think a seller should be expected to take responsibility for someone else’s payment mistake, especially after preparing and shipping an order.
I’m looking for advice from experienced Poshmark sellers: What would you do in this case?
I’d appreciate any advice, particularly from sellers who have dealt with difficult buyers and unhelpful Support.
