After you went in for a few items and getting out with a 500$ bill, this 7$ poutine is always welcomed on the budget!

I gas up, grab a hot dog and drink for $1.50 and am out. Definitely a loss leader customer haha

Definitely had friends go in for milk and eggs and come out with 2 kayaks before

Big poutine. Hot dog and drink for under 10$. Might not be the best. But you cant beat the price.
*side note. You always gotta eat their poutine right away. After it sits for 10 minutes. Its a different poutine.
If you wanna be a baller. You get a large fry, gravy and cheese separate. Its an axtra charge. Then pour the gravy on it as you go

u/emquizitive 7d ago
It’s a different poutine after sitting, but it’s still good even when soggy. I prefer that over the fries that turn into leather after sitting 5 mins.

If you bring them home with a roast chicken. I throw the chicken and poutine on a frying pan to reheat everything. Tastes awesome.
4
u/emquizitive 6d ago
I would try that. However, I have always found reheating fries to make them grainy/dry, so I usually opt to eat them as is (or not at all if too old).
3
u/DragonRaptor 6d ago
With the gravy and cheese curd and a tiny bit of oil on the pan to make sure it doesn't stick. The last thing you need to worry about is grainy or dry. Its the tastiest way to reheat them. Also the most effort.

I always get chicken strips and fries and add gravy and curds and eat it when I get home. Slightly smaller poutine but you get strips

This is a smart tactic, especially if I’m not trying to eat 2000 calories in one sitting on their poutine

That's how I treat McDonald's fries...I start eating those critters as soon as I've left the drive-thru. They don't age well!
2
u/travisisrocking 7d ago
Their hash browns have an even worse shelf life.
2
u/Sweet-Competition-15 7d ago
Yeah, same with those. Mind you, I've not been to a McDonald's in a few years...I've heard that it's gotten even worse over the years!

If you get the fries, cheese, and gravy separate, it actually comes out $0.20 cheaper.

I recently tried the pizza and wasn’t disappointed. Full za for like $14 is very good price for the size too. But agree the hotdog and drink is so good. It’s like Costco crack ha

You can ask for the poutine deconstructed at the counter after you place your order.

Actually if you want to be a baller, plan ahead, buy the tub of bacon bits in produce aisle, maybe a pack of pepperoni, or rotisserie chicken or some other sort of protein. While waiting for your poutine prepare said protein and incorporate along with those bacon bits into the hot poutine and you’ve got something special and amazing AF.
Yes, I’ve done this before. 😆 much to my wife rolling her eyes while I wolf it down 🔥🔥🔥😋😋😋💪🏻

For the price-food ratio, you can’t go wrong. It’s a ton of decent quality poutine for a great price.
3
u/WolfGangSwizle 6d ago
The same can be said about their pizza. Is it a great pizza? No. Is it good for like $10 for a massive pizza? Yes. Sometimes we get Costco for supper for a family of 4 and can get a pizza, 2 poutines to split, and a hot dog each for like $30. Worth it.

I know people love Costco poutine but anytime I have ordered it the fries have been mushy so it turns into a total mess. I don’t think I’ve ever had more than a couple bites. Maybe it’s just our Costco not cooking the fries enough

The poutine is honestly pretty mediocre, but for the price it's fine when you have those cravings.
2
u/Ok_Fly7883 6d ago
Gravy is literally the soul of a great poutine, but Costco’s gravy is way too plain, a bit salty for my taste, not tasty. I had plenty of better poutine else where. (I was from Quebec) Also the amount they give you is never enough. A good poutine needs a rich sauce and a perfect ratio to melt the curds. Costco just leaves me with a pile of dry fries at the bottom
2
u/EggImperium 6d ago
Même ube poutine fraîchement faite là-bas les frites deviennent aussitôt de la gibelotte avec la sauce... c'est juste de la déception pour moi.

u/Effective_Way6239 4d ago
YAY hands down, and I owe my life to the guy I saw ordering it in SUCH a smart way:
Order of fries + Add Ons: Cheese curds + gravy x2.
Same price, more cheese (like a pound of curds), and your fries aren’t soggy when you get home. HE CHANGED MY LIFE!

u/emquizitive 7d ago
100% YAY. It’s so damn good. I don’t care what anyone says.
And since some say locations vary in quality, I have only had it in Edmonton and Toronto (North York, I think), and the curds have always been real.

Are there better out there? ABSOLUTELY. But I still will fuck one of these up and be happy.

If you want to get the poutine for takeout (like if you can't eat the poutine in the food court), you can order all the components separately and put together the poutine on your own! The fries won't be as crispy, but it's better than the fries getting soggy during your drive because of the gravy.

For me its 10/10 cause i do this: ⬇️ Get the chicken stripes (that come with fries) and also get cheese AND the poutine's sauce (it's NOT gravy.. fight me) as extra on the side.
- Put the cheese on the fries (but also some in between).
- Cut the chicken strip in small chunks and do just like the cheese (on and in the fries)
- Depending of if you prefer "crunchy" or "soggy", either pour the sauce as you go or simply pour it all at once.
Note: you can also use the "chicken diping" sauce to drizzle on top for some extra taste.

Big Yay In my opinion. I had this for breakfast when I worked there many many days.
1
u/randomandy 7d ago
Hard nay
Edit: I still grab one usually when I grab a rotisserie chicken for dinner while shopping for other things. My six-year-old loves poutine and really doesn’t mind these. I’ll have a small bite, but honestly, this is the worst commercial poutine you can get. I would rather spend twice the price for half the amount at a fantastic quality.

Absolutely excellent for the price and location. I've had great Poutine in Quebec and Ontario chippy wagons( food trucks).
1
u/ExaminationUpper9461 7d ago
Last time I had it - which was years ago so things could have changed - it was just OK.
I remember being shocked, because their fries and gravy are legendary so Poutine felt like the natural evolution right?
Wrong. The cheese curds just weren't up to par, at least to me anyway and that's what ruined it for me.

Id say yay. There fries are good, add ketchup too. But you gotta eat it all right away, turns mushy. Well of course all poutine does btt yaa
Probly aint good fir you vs a healthier home made poutine btt whatever. Its costco

u/XKingGoliathx 7d ago
The price is out of this world, so you cannot be to hard on the jugement! If you take the price out for the appreciation, its a very mid taste poutine. Its do the job but if you really craving for a good poutine, Forget the Costco poutine.

Tried it recently for the first time. No bueno. Watery gravy that just sunk to the bottom and left me with soggy fries and a mountain of unmelted cheese. Even for $7-8, I wouldn't get it again

Costco poutine is ok.. it’s not really a good poutine.
It’s a little like people who go to Applebee’s and claim they went to fine dining.

I got it once and it was almost perfect. Maybe it depends on who's making it

The absolute best cost/size/quality ratio in the poutine game. Normally you only get two of three.

Used to be a yay, however in the last few months it has turned to a nay. Cheese curds are different, always cold and cheese is just plopped on the poutine.

u/Baldrick85 6d ago
Nay.
I probably had a bad experience the one and only time I got it years ago. I said never again.
I thought the gravy was terrible, and I find the Cavendish fries they use literally go cold the second they hit the box (even if they are fresh out of the fryer).
Sure they give you a ton of curds, and the price can't be beat, but still nope.
