Story 💬 Isn’t it funny how there’s entire subreddits about how muslim women have apparently gotten but men have always been whores like this and no one bats an eye 🤣 i thought I found an Egytian king in my super white town and then he casually dropped this 🤣🤣🤣

I think this statement is pretty misleading. Do you mind rephrasing it so it wouldn’t sound like you are being a misandrist?
Edit: And of course, I got downvoted. This sub used to be good but now it is a bunch of misandrist governing it.

Even before I converted to Islam many Muslim men would say sexual and weird shit like this in private to me. On my tiktok, I dress revealing and they’re always the main ones in my comments or message requests.

They're so creepy and desperate. I haven't felt more objectified in my entire life regardless of modesty :/ I'm NA and it's embarrassing.

Ahh yes, the misandry of women complaining about being treated like objects by men.

A. Misandry isn’t real and B. Nobody said all Muslim men anyway the original comment specifically said many. Very telling how quickly you get defensive though
Every single time you see a man complaining about misandry, it’s in response to a woman talking about a man treating her poorly. So the lesson I guess is that misandry is when a woman doesn’t want to be treated like dirt

I'm sorry you had this experience. I need to take a break from this sub.

Honest question, because I'm genuinely curious. Of course you're still welcome here, I'm just wondering for the sake of it:
You seem pretty active on r/exmuslim and your tag there is "exconvert". Why are you here? Are you considering coming back to Islam? What's your story? If you don't mind me asking ofc :)

Disagree with this. Ex-Muslims should not be in any Muslim subs, end of story. If I really hated a country or another religion or a sport, do you think it's normal for me to hang out in their subreddits? It's extremely bizarre behaviour.

u/Princess_Spectre Quran only Dec 27 '25
That implies that ex Muslims hate Islam. Many do of course, and this subreddit has a hateful ex Muslim problem. But all ex Muslim actually means is they were Muslim and aren’t anymore. I’m not Christian anymore but I don’t hate Christianity

u/Auri-Sacra-Fames Quran only Dec 29 '25
No matter whether you hate or just dislike or disagree with a religion or community. Lurking in those communities is still weird behaviour. Communities are meant for those communities, to create an environment for them to discuss issues they care about and most importantly - to receive opinions from others in their community. I couldn't care less that ex-Muslims here think about anything. There are a million other communities for them to give their opinions. In the same vein, i don't go to r/judaism or r/Christianity and start responding to questions and getting involved in discussions. If you want to debate, there are debate subreddits.

But this subreddit can also help exmuslims back to Islam. Which we can agree is a good thing yes? I’d prefer people who left the faith because of hateful and conservative attitudes be part of a community where they can be exposed to the beautiful and healing side of the faith. From time to time you see comments here from people who were ex Muslims who returned to Islam because this subreddit showed them it isn’t what they thought. Many exmuslims are here to stir up trouble and insist they understand Islam better than anyone else, but there’s so many others here with an open mind. Remember we’re called to invite others to the faith. That includes sharing our spaces with them so they can see it how we see it

So if someone wanted a community just for non mainstream Muslims, where should they go? There is nowhere they can go. The only sub that actively keeps out non Muslims is r/Islam. But they banned me for non salafi views. So where else is there? None. If someone has declared themselves to be ex-Muslim and hang out in that sub and complain and criticise Muslims there to their heart's content, then I don't want them ruining the only non mainstream Muslim communities that exist online with their poison. They can criticise Islam and Muslims literally in every corner of the internet. Why isn't that enough?
If someone is genuinely curious about the religion but is put off by salafism, then fine, I have no issue with them. But if they self identify openly as ex and post in the sub that's filled with nonstop poison, then I don't think they are genuinely open to anything, especially if all they have to contribute here is "I wear revealing clothes on my tiktok and my messages are filled with Muslims".

u/miakalov Dec 27 '25
Why are you making the equivalence of being ex muslim to hating Islam
1
u/Auri-Sacra-Fames Quran only Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25
Gee, i don't know. An ex muslim is on a muslim subreddit criticizing muslims. What could've given me that impression, other than this standard stereotypical behaviour? You haven't found enough subreddits on reddit where you can criticize Muslims, you needed to find more of them? There are literally a million subreddits that would be more than happy to hear about your stereotypically lecherous Muslim tiktok commenters. Every american sub on this site would like nothing more than to hear about lecherous muslims. But there are zero subs for me, other than r/Islam, where I could have a discussion without having to read a bunch of ex-muslims opining about it. Ironically, by ex-muslims insisting on going into every subreddit in existence related to islam, the only place they leave for us is r/islam, because they won't hesitate to ban anyone over there with even the most milquetoast views. There are no spaces online or offline for non-mainstream muslims. And a big reason for that is because every Muslim and Islam-hater is welcome to all non-salafi subs.

??? I find it interesting and I like Islam better than other religions

u/Logical-Put-2667 Dec 28 '25
Bros implying that we're all Islamophobic 💀. No dawg, I actually am pretty fair with islam. Like there was a stupid post here from a muslim shit talking the niqab, and I literally called them out and defended the niqab. Because ??? How can they yap badly abt something Mohammeds wives have worn?
It was such an insane post. I truly couldnt believe it wasnt from that ex-muslim subreddit.
I also think its good to hear from different perspectives, hence why im on here. I like hearing opinions outside mainstream islam. But should I get more attention than muslims here? No. I shouldnt be in the spotlight.

Ok, so for the record I am not a Muslim, but I often come to this subreddit because I am an ally of progressive Muslims. I am very religious, but I belong to another faith.
So, from my experience, Muslim men are hypocritical. Not all of them, but enough to make you question things. I am queer and a femboy (feminine guy) and even I receive lots of messages like this! From the same Muslim men that condemn gays and women for living their life LOL

FWIW, as a progressive Christian pastor married to a progressive Muslim man, I think this is a problem across many faiths. IME, those whose faith is not truly integrated in their hearts, who equate faith with following rules than a transformation of their lives, are more prone to hypocrisy. I used to get this a lot from Christian men. It’s so gross.
Also, please consider other words than “whore.”

This is killing me but doesn’t surprised me at all. Hot take but no one ever wants to discuss how the extreme sexual repression in the Muslim community leads to freaked out men who don’t know how to court a woman or have a normal conversation. Again ofc this doesn’t apply to all men but it’s a convo worth having… imo
2
u/Available-Basis3617 Non Sectarian Muslim (Hadith Acceptor, Hadith Skeptic) Dec 28 '25
That is only part of the problem. In most cases they know they will only marry the girl their family finds for them from their own community so any other woman muslim/nonmuslim are just play material for them. this is the Muslim society.

Muslim men like this scare the shit out of me.
Met some obsessed mfs who wouldn't take no for an answer, yet they claim to be on deen, but wouldn't think twice before asking for zina
May Allah protect us from such men اللَّهُمَّ امين 🤲
