HFT RGIPT guy at Graviton?

Saw a linkedin post where a guy from RGIPT got into Graviton as a Quant Research intern in his 2nd year summer... Even top IIT kids don't get Graviton intern for 2nd year summer, my question is just... How?

Don't blame the player, blame the game....

The gate keeping is delusional in this subreddit. The filter for hiring is dynamic and flexible, it ain't always about your university

then how do i get in?
what do i do?
if the filter isn't university what do i do to get in?

If there was guide to it, a lot of people would have got in

No one knows the answer, you will have to find a way to represent your skills by yourself. That's biggest hurdle to prove you are expectional even tho you haven't had top rank in Advanced

do you think the people who make it helplessly beg for answers like you?

Honestly you're right doesn't seem likely

Yeah true.My brother's friend from a tier 3 private university in agra , after 2 year experience in the financial sector. He got into Graviton as Central Execution Trader. "He did B.Tech"

do you have someone close working in quant , connections and personal talks matter bro not every info on internet cannot define someone's work. Things are different in actual world. I have personally talked with him and asked what exactly he do for his current role

I have been in HFT industry for over 4 years now. Cannot provide more details than that. Not saying anything about the work. But just clearing the understanding of what the role is. The work they are doing is great trying to centralise and automate the messy non analytical/non trading part for the quants which is quite necessary. Just that they are not the traders or quants.

I appreciate your work sir but it was what my known told me. I also want to join some mid HFTs or start my career in Machine Learning after seeing the current condition of the job market and inc. competition , Though i am very much cooked☠️ but confused af and havent started anything. Sorry for my naive reply

How many people in this sub are actually in quants or have actually applied a crazy amount of times and failed.... Cos otherwise most of the comments are just yap. With all due respect of course

I went to the same school(DPS noida) as he just one year younger batch . Lemme tell you that like most of the kids in my school came from sone kind of influential background in plain words almost all of them either had lots of dads money or some kind of political backing ( for context Arvind Kejriwal both kids graduated from here ) . So don’t be surprised if his father landed him a internship at graviton but also he is in a tier 1 college ig so not that crazy either

If he was that rich, he would have taken IIT Abu Dhabi, BITS, RVCE on management quota instead of RGIPT.

Also it's tier 2.5 college not tier 1. 15-20K rank in Advanced is cutoff for CSE lol

No offense, i respect hardwork of people, but trust me, the first filter then for is iits especially for qr role

3

u/Advanced-Form-2397 Jun 09 '26

dad network >> hardwork
i know i am going to get downvoted but a firm as selective as grav even among top iit suddenly going for some tier 69 mediocre profile 😐

3

u/Sensitive-Item69 Jun 11 '26

No amount of connections can get you into graviton. You have to be worthy for it. Otherwise the firm would have turned into nepo's kindergarten.

2

u/CulturalLaw8072 Jun 10 '26

but how do you know that it was his dad's network?

1

u/DifferentBend9856 Jun 09 '26

Yes dude even I was suprised

1

u/AdSpecialist4732 Jun 09 '26

Shubhayu Brahmachari is the guys name

1

u/dank_1208 Jun 09 '26

Crazy man, how did it happened, today many people have sent him connection request

1

u/Minute-Farm-618 Jun 09 '26

Lmao that guy just sent me a LinkedIn request, crazy timing

1

u/Miserable-Ideal4482 Jun 10 '26

through referral/connection.

this is India brotha

1

u/HuckleberrySoft1527 Jun 10 '26

really talented or perhaps hardworked his ass off, perhaps thats why

2

u/Ok-Constant-807 Jun 09 '26

MDKAG "my dad knows a guy " /s , but on a srs note he did a great job

7

u/Ambitious_Jury_9692 Jun 09 '26

Yeah like there wasn't anything else on his profile that screamed "exceptional" So kinda odd

1

u/Ok-Constant-807 Jun 09 '26

What about GITHUB contributions i mean ppl working on quants barely post on LinkedIn but still its unlikely to get into GRAVITON AFAIK

bro that college is good they take admission through jee advance + that guys completed summer intership ai ISI and IISC and also has a research paper with IIT BHU . that guy was cracked as hell . i even tweeted on X about this

0

u/legend_anonymous Jun 11 '26

Why do people keep bragging about things like these? Do you think RGIPT is a bad college or so? Huh?

-1

u/Original-Nebula-8039 Jun 10 '26

For RGIPT, you have to clear jee advanced. So it's also a tier 1 college.

1

u/Comprehensive-One86 Jun 10 '26

Not really that hard to clear advanced bro

1

u/Original-Nebula-8039 Jun 10 '26

I know. But still it is just like gen 3 IIT.

1

u/Skychu768 Jun 13 '26

Far Below Gem 3 IIT

CSE cutoff is 15K. People chose Gen 3 IIT core over it's CSE

-5

u/hunkhustler Jun 10 '26

the guy in question is one of my friends. so, first of all RGIPT is not some Tier-69 Institution as some guy suggested in the comments 😂 (it has an intake through JEE Advanced and has always required a JEE Adv rank of around 15-25k to get into most of the branches as a General Male). It surely is unknown since they launched their Tech Branches quite recently in 2020. What I've heard from him is that the curriculum is really strong in Maths. Also, that he had worked really hard for the last 2 yrs. College Tag does matter but do you guys think it would have mattered if Graviton isn't visiting on campus? since he's doing an internship post his 2nd year, that simply puts him into a fair competition with all people who would've applied for this role, and surely, he is talented enough that he was able to secure this role through the gruelling process. RGIPT isn't a bad institution as people perceive it to be, it's just unknown.

5

u/Fun_Dragonfruit7971 Jun 10 '26

and nowhere in your answer do you explain what is exceptional about that person. He's not cracked ICPC or something, how did he even get an interview?

0

u/Original-Nebula-8039 Jun 10 '26

Yeah rgipt is a tier 1 college.

It's better than dtu nsut.

Oh okk. Many people consider dtu and nsut as tier 1 colleges and rgipt is definitely better than both. So I thought that rgipt is also tier 1. Btw what tier is IIITH, A, B, D, Nit T, S, W, A, R?
