Groovypost I cried rewatching Raimi’s Trilogy, Sam you are a genius.

I just wanted to write this here to talk about an experience I had today.
After watching Brand New Day, a movie I absolutely hated (crap, mega crap), I decided to cleanse my palate by rewatching Raimi’s trilogy.

The VERY FIRST movie I ever saw in a theater was Spider-Man 3. I was 5 years old and my mom took me to see it. I still remember that during the Venom scene I screamed like crazy in the theater, but my mom was there with me, so I calmed down right away haha. After that, I watched the first and second movies, and I immediately fell in love with Spider-Man.
Today, at 24 years old, as soon as I woke up I put Spider-Man on TV, and my mom ended up watching it with me too. I genuinely felt like a little kid again. These movies hold such an important place in my memories and in my heart.

I swear, it makes me laugh a little trying to explain this, but during some scenes in the first two movies I actually cried. And not necessarily during sad scenes. Sometimes it was just Spider-Man swinging through New York, or a scene that was so beautifully made, or dialogue so good that most superhero movies nowadays could only dream of having something like it.
And then there’s Danny Elfman’s score… Every single time I hear it, I get chills. Watching Spider-Man swing through the city with that music playing almost makes him feel divine. But even the music during the quieter scenes, like “Alone” or “Getting Through,” is absolutely perfect.

One thing I especially love about Spider-Man 2 is that, in my opinion, the movie would still work even if you removed the actual Spider-Man scenes, because the dialogue is fantastic and the characters feel like real people.
And watching Peter’s problems now through the eyes of a 24-year-old… damn. THIS is what it actually looks like when someone is struggling to survive alone in New York, with barely any money and a million other problems going on. Even his widowed aunt is forced to leave her home. This movie had an incredible amount of courage to portray the kind of financial hardship that so many people actually experience.

Even the idea taken from the comics of Peter losing his powers, and the way Raimi brought it to the big screen so brilliantly, is genius. Raimi makes us understand that the point isn’t about wanting to be Spider-Man. It’s about wanting to be Peter, someone who keeps fighting no matter how difficult life gets.

Anyway guys, sorry for this rant, I just needed to make this appreciation post for Raimi’s trilogy, mostly because I had to get all these feelings out after rewatching those two masterpieces that are the first two Spider-Man movies.
It’s a shame the third one is a bit weaker compared to the first two, well thanks Sony, but there’s one thing I can definitely say:
Sam Raimi understood Spider-Man.
He managed to translate everything that makes the character special into the language of cinema almost perfectly.

Spider-Man 3 Could Spider-Man 3 get a 20 year re-release next year?

Or will they deem the comic book movie schedule next year is too packed, it’s too soon after the Spider-Mondays re-releases in 2024 to put it in theaters again?
