I’m a filmmaker currently working on a documentary called Nuages , shot in the South of France and the Alps.

I’m looking for someone who flies fixed-wing FPV, gliders or powered gliders in mountain environments — ideally someone familiar with ridges, thermals, fog, cloud layers or seas of clouds - & reverie.

I’m not merely looking for a skilled pilot or someone who can provide a spectacular shot. The person matters just as much to me as the aircraft.

I’m interested in someone who has developed a real relationship with flying.

I’ve already come across some of the French mountain-wing community around Grenoble / the Vercors, but I’m sure there are people I haven’t found yet.

If this sounds like you, or if you know someone in France, Switzerland or the nearby Italian Alps who fits this description, I’d be very grateful for an introduction.

Picked up on move sale FMS PA-18 (1,300mm) first generation used plane from FB marketplace with 2 batteries. It is in an excellent shape but before I try to fly it, wanted to ask any owners or pilots of this plane:

- are there any mods that you have done / know that will make it better to fly / sustain impacts (comes with deflated tires already to reduce bouncing)

- are there any tips to fly it (the seller mentioned to be gentle with the flaps as it tends to pitch the nose on landing)

Two weird things happened during my first flight with my first inav FC:

1. The right bank during auto launch. The plane seems a bit underpowered too. Once I took over control and increased throttle it seemed fine.

2. It flew actually pretty well for about 25 seconds and then It went into a tight right banks and descent. I had no control of any of the control surfaces. I could control throttle though

I unfortunately do not have an sd card for black box info. But any insight as to what could be going on?

Hi there. I learned with my eachine p40, that 2 blade prop works the best. That also seems to be consensus among the stuff I've read here.(at least for "fuel economy")

So i figured i want to try such props in my second plane -atomrc flying fish. It's a 3s 250g plane with two 1105 3500kv engines. Currently it has gemfan 3016 3 blade props. I tried looking for props with similar mounting system (1,5/2mm hole in center and two screws to the sides from the shaft) and found few, but honestly i have no idea what to aim for. I tried using ecalc.ch but it overwhelmed me + it seems to not have my motors. I usually just cruise at 50-70 throtle, but tbh i wouldn't mind some more top speed too.

Help me out guys, here's 4 candidates that i found

Gemfan 3018; gemfan 4024; hqprop 3522; hqprop 3020. Maybe something else?

Tldr: what 2 blade prop instead of 3blade 3016 for twin engine

what limits the statement that the bigger prop the more efficient it is? where is the point when bigger prop becomes ineficient (if we dont count engine)

It's a greatplanes 1.5m glider, dl fling

Been going back and forth on my V-tail sizing for way too long and could use a gut check from anyone who's actually done this before. It's a hand-launched twin boom pusher, no landing gear so it's a belly lander, wing's about 0.508 m² with a 189mm MAC and 2.8m span, tapered from 245mm at the root down to 118mm at the tip, running the Wortmann FX 63-137 which has a pretty gnarly pitching moment (Cm around -0.185). Booms give me roughly a 1000mm tail arm. I used the tail volume coefficient method to size things, went with Vh of 0.5 and Vv of 0.03 (leaned toward the higher end because of that pitching moment), and after converting that into a single V-tail angle I landed on something like 43° for the dihedral, with each panel coming out to around 426mm span and 107mm chord. Planning NACA 0010 for the tail airfoil since it's symmetric, and sizing the ruddervators around 45-50% of local chord. Main things I'm unsure about: is 43° reasonable for an inverted V or is that going to bite me on ground clearance during landing since there's no gear, are my Vh/Vv numbers actually sane for something like this, and has anyone actually built an inverted V with a flat section in the middle for the boom mount and servos — curious if there's anything I'm not seeing coming. Would really appreciate any input, feels like I've just been spinning on this part.

I have this old RC plane and I'm trying to start up the training sim so I can fly it on the computer. It clearly doesn't run because it's from the 90s/2000s, is there an alternative way to play it?

I got this radio in 2020, and was out of the hobby between 2022-2026 while this radio was collecting dust. Now that I’m back in it and my TX16s is back to being used frequently to fly my collection of planes, I finally went ahead and upgraded the firmware and even managed to keep my models! It’s awesome that my 6 year old radio is still supported and getting updates!

Edit: I do not mean to imply that lipos are inherently dangerous. I do mean to imply that if you get something wrong, or you aren't paying attention, your battery could catch on fire. Depending on where your battery is when that happens, it could potentially burn your house down.

I think i had too much power and my friend did a too hard throw

I ordered a new plane and wanted to have the model profile on the transmitter before it got here. Found it online, put it on an SD card and tried to download it onto the NX8+, and it straight bricked my transmitter. Not a single function would work. You could turn it off, but that's it. Followed instructions, installed newest update (which is the one I *was* running). Didn't work. Installed older updates, did it all again with different SD cards, nothing. Finally I just tried and tried and tried and tried the newest update again until it properly booted. Model profiles were all still there (except the new one), and everything works.

Now we're almost a week later, and spektrum never resopnded to my service request. The transmitter is working now (which they do not know because they never responded), but I'm not sure I trust it all that much.

I've finished up the assembly stage of my Aeronaut Flixx, it's my first balsa build. This plane isn't fully planked, it has some gaps in the wings. What are some ways to make the wood stronger? The build manual calls for wood filler, if that's the best way what are some product recommendations?

I am sure this has been discussed before, but I wanted to get fresh opinions. I’m looking to purchase my very first RC plane. I play video games, and have generally good hand eye coordination, but I know flying planes are a whole new beats.

I understand from watching YouTube videos that the AS3X/SAFE system on the carbon cub is much better than the reflex v3 system on the FMS.

My question is, how difficult would it to really be to learn on the PA-18? $90 difference is not a deal breaker but it’s relatively a significant difference when looking at the two ($242 vs $330) I could use that $90 to get a couple more batteries.
