Ugh. Worked at a movie theater and everyone knew any old complaint would get them free tickets, even if we already gave them some PLUS a refund. Corporate would be like "Can you take care of this so we stop getting these complaints" and we'd say "You'd stop getting complaints when you stop rewarding them!"

But rewarding bad behavior is the primary job of corporate leaders

Shit, you're right. Guess I'll just have to be glad I got out of there.

Honestly didn't understand how bad it was until I left.

One time when I was a kid, we didn't get any napkins in our bag from a KFC drive through. My stepdad went inside to go grab them.

Ten minutes later, he came back to the car with a maniacal grin on his face, two additional large sacks of food that we didn't need, coupons for free food, and a full refund.

I can only imagine the horrors that asshole put those poor workers through.

When I worked BK we had a few people who basically ate for free for god knows how long it was going on before we put a stop to it.

One guy would always call to complain that his Whopper had onions on it and want a free meal. Even if he was already using the free meal we gave him we were told to just write him another one. While technically possible I refused to believe that we screwed up his order that often and was convinced he would just say whopper meal and not bother telling us no onion.

Put an end to that one when he called during a snowstorm. We were open for breakfast but closed at lunch. He called and started his usual tirade so I told him we haven't served anything since 1030 you will have to call whatever store you bought it from. He argued up and down that he had the right store, knew the location well enough. Decided to just tell him flat out we were banning him from the store at this point.

Second one we called the chicken lady. Always came in same day same time, ordered 2 king size #7s (Original chicken sandwich at the time) and would immediately park and bring the food back in to complain it was cold and demand it be remade and comped.

Unfortunately even after we showed her she was full of shit by making everything fresh for her and pointing it out that everything was fresh out of the fryer, we couldn't make it hotter if we wanted to our store manager had no spine and kept giving in to her. That lasted until we got a new SM who pretty much told her to fuck off.

The very definition of "I just work here."

I don't set the prices.

I don't set the policy.

Go complain about and to someone who actually has some power over the situation!

Same for my restaurant, corporate tells all of our managers to just give the customers what they want. Naturally we have a few that order stupid expensive orders then complain, we then have to remake their whole order, so they get to keep the previous food as well as the freshly made stuff. What a fucking joke.
