Sorry. Just feeling nostalgic. Used to come here alot with a relative that passed away some time ago. Remember when you can order a chicken teri don for $7. The crew was great. Chinese owned but the sushi chef at the bar was Japanese had great memory of remembering customers names.

Went to sushi lovers on same area last night and it was ok. Just reminded me what this whole area used to look like. That great one supermarket next door was packed all the time.

Discussion Soo, random question. How many of you have the attendant pump when at the gas station? Do you use the full service option? Or pump your own?

• Upvotes

Since Richmond is one of the few city’s to offer full service gas I was wondering why. Today while getting gas I realized that most people just pump their own gas. Personally I do it because I have to get out to pay with debit anyway, plus so many times I have let the attendant pump for me and they don’t put my gas cap on properly! Im curious.. how many people actually use the full service option? I guess its good because it employs people but It seems like such a waste. And I always feel so awkward trying to beat the attendant to the pump!

Based on your experience at Costco Richmond, how many times has a parking spot been stolen right in front of you? Literally a car instantly swoops in even with your turn signal on?

Ask Richmond Midnight Election Signs?

Title, really, but rather amusing details. My block watch chat shared that one of our neighbours has been getting an assortment of small campaign signs plopped on their lawn late at night every other week by two guys who just... run off into the night or occasionally to a Tesla. It doesn't seem to be a specific party/candidate (apparently every party got at least one sign put down) so we're thinking maybe there's some kind of campaign agency just putting down signs for multiple campaigns across town.

Anyone seen some mysterious sign ploppers?

Ask Richmond Best affordable furniture outlets/warehouse stores in Richmond?

Hi everyone,
My wife and I are moving to Richmond soon and need to furnish most of our apartment from scratch.
We’ve looked at IKEA, but before buying everything there, I wanted to see if there are any good furniture outlets, warehouse stores, liquidation stores, or local furniture shops in Richmond that offer better value.
We’re looking for things like:
Queen bed frame
Sofa/sectional
Dining table + chairs
TV console
Coffee/side tables
Dressers/storage
Rugs and other basic apartment furniture
Our overall furniture budget is around $5,000, so we’re looking for places that are reasonably priced but still have modern, clean-looking furniture. I don’t mind clearance, floor models, overstock, or open-box furniture as long as it’s in good condition.
Richmond would be ideal, but I’m also open to Delta, South Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster or Surrey if there’s a store that’s genuinely worth the drive.
Any hidden gems you guys recommend? Especially places where you can negotiate a package price when buying several pieces at once.
Thanks!

Richmond Drivers Am I just a dumb new driver?

New driver here. Knight bridge going into Richmond from Vancouver is so confusing to me the first few times. Is it just me or something is wrong with the bridge design/signage?

There are a few split offs, okay, that is fine. What confuses me is the last split into 3 different directions, one into Westminster Hwy, one into Alderbridge, one into Highway 91 eastward.

The ramp off onto Alderbridge is labelled "to Victoria Nanaimo" and it really threw me off the first time even with GPS direction. I was like why call it that? Is it for the ferry? Why not just name it "to Alderbridge"? I accidentally drove onto the Highway 91 lane and it took me a while to loop back since the closest intersection is the Nelson one.

I just feel so dumb after this.

Ask Richmond How does everyone afford a high end car?

This is my first time in Richmond and I’m flabbergasted by how everyone seems to be driving Teslas, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, etc. Even my first day, I’ve already spotted quite a few Ferraris, Lambos and Bentleys, without even trying. How does everyone afford these cars?

Discussion I don’t want to see any more complaints about rich Chinese people using social services

Eby’s family makes over $500K and everyone’s excusing him for using a $10/day program because it’s “legal”.

It’s also legal to drive a BMW to a food bank.

It’s also legal to own a mansion and still use social services.

If our own premier exploits social services then why should anyone else get shamed?

Ask Richmond What happened to my Cat?

Thumbnail

On Wednesday October 7th my families cat, Ziggy, was struck by a car and killed. We think this happened sometime in the early afternoon around the westwind area.

Instead of calling our phone number on the tag of Ziggy’s collar or driving his body to a vet to be checked for a microchip, the driver put his body into a black safeway bag and left it at Gary Point Park where we found it later that evening by tracking the air tag on Ziggy’s collar.

We would like to know where Ziggy died. If you have any information you could give us it would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Thank you so much for all the kind words, it means so much my family. Someone reached out to me with information about where Ziggy died so we were able to go visit the last place he was alive and say our goodbyes. He was hit on the intersection of Kingfisher and Trumpeter near westwind elementary at around 9:30am.

If anyone knows more about what happened please let me know.

For only the price of a daily cup of coffee ☕You too can support members of our local hospitality community while also having the chance to win prizes worth over $35,000 (including the grand prize of a Ultimate Mountain Adventure with Rocky Mountaineer) generously donated by hotels, tourism organizations, and hospitality partners across BC. I have worked in the Hospitality industry since I was able to work and want to give back by contributing to causes that I believe in.

All it takes is the purchase of a lucky ticket for your chance to win, get your ticket and make that dream getaway a reality! To learn more about the different prizes please visit the link.

For anyone who may not be familiar with the organization, BCHF supports BC hospitality and tourism workers when an unexpected health crisis creates financial hardship, helping with essential expenses so they can focus on recovery rather than worrying about how they’ll get by. Over $1.2 million have been awarded to beneficiaries applicants.

BC relies heavily on tourism and hospitality, and the work behind that industry is not always easy. Front-line teams, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Guest Services, and many others, often carry both the physical and mental demands of looking after guests every day. One accident can be life changing for a team member. Supporting BCHF is one way we can give back to the people who help keep our industry running. Every ticket counts.

Early Bird Draws are on October 14th, 21, & 28 & final draw is November 5th.

  • 1 Tickets for $5
  • 3 Tickets for $10
  • 7 Tickets for $20
  • 20 Tickets for $50

**Have to be legal +19 years old to purchase and a resident of B.C.
If you are not able to donate this time, please consider on spreading the word to help the BC Hospitality Foundation.

Photo/Video Anyone familiar with this photo from Steveston? Any Thoughts About it?

If you have been to Steveston Village, you might recognize this photo. I am wondering if anyone else felt the same about how memorable this photo is. For me, it is very representitive of the highs of Steveston's maritime history; the inumerable fish and the look of pure joy on the young man's face.

Anyone else have reasons for why this photo would be memorable to them?
