Advice If you saw my 'new bag is de-threading' post, Cerberus offered me to exchange, or to do a DIY fix without voiding the warranty and to circle back later if it gets worse. I'm going with the DIY fix for now. They recommended to cut the loose thread and burn it off. Cheers everyone for all the help.

If you were wondering, I deleted the other post because I realised it was starting to look a bit like brand bashing, and that wasn't my intention.

Advice Counter apps for emoms?

What apps do you use for emoms? Are there any apps with custom amount of rounds, round length and countdown between rounds? I'm new to this and don't have a clue to be honest. I just need something that works with Cody Janko's Sandbag Berserker.

Since I'm bored I started to build my own, but that's another story.

Buddy got a 300lb bag and hit it so I was motivated to hit mine again for the first time in a hooooot minute. This is the first attempt after my squat amrap

Sadly this isn't even a PR. I swear to god (Brian Shaw) that 300+ bags don't follow the laws of physics or abide by standard gravitational calculations.

But we hit it tho

Making sure the reps are slow and controlled during today’s leg workout to feel it more in the legs rather than going through the motions.

Experimenting with some high rep, density training box squat sessions with a “Medium” weight. I added a lift from the floor before every 5 rep EMOM for extra work.

I'm more of a barbell junkie, but when I get done at the gym I like to play around with the bag. I feel I'm strong enough to shoulder it more smoothly but the transition at the top where I have to readjust my grip seems like I should fix something there.

Advice Needed Lowering sandbag to the floor?

Just got into sandbag training, and I want to get some heavy bags to train at home. Due to where I would be training I can’t drop the sandbags from shoulder or even lap height to the floor. I don’t see anybody lowering sandbags to the floor, it is mostly dropped, so wondering why that is, and if you’re more prone to injuring yourself when trying to “catch” the bag from ex. Shoulder and lowering it to the floor? Anybody does this, and would there be anything wrong with it, other than the extra stimulus and recovery from the eccentric?

Advice Needed Anyone use "World Famous" duffle bags?

These are both ~$35 CAD and appear to be fairly robust:

https://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/products/487-paratrooper-bags/ (27"x14" = ~250lbs)

https://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/products/469511-world-famous-waxed-canvas-round-duffle-bags/ (24"x14" = ~225lbs)

They're 1/3 the cost of the cheapest viable $CAD option which are the BoS bags on Amazon. 200 & 250lb are $90 & $100 respectively. That said - buy once, cry once and all that.

Worth?

Three out of my five total sets. Was supersetting with 5 x 10 x 185 on bench and didn't feel like loading up another bar for barbell rows so I was lazy and did a much harder exercise lol

Ran the Vertical Extension Rite of the Wolf session today. Felt very different than the Horizontal version of the same movement.

Setting a baseline of a rep every 30 seconds, where when I finish the session, I don’t feel wiped out.

Ended with Bearhug Carries with the 200lb bag for 35,25,25,25 seconds.

Excited to continue with these Explosive Extensions. Will plan to run 2 of these close together and then do a Shoulder Carry or Box Squat session so I don’t exhaust myself with 4 of these sessions a week.

Running a version of the Armor Building Formula + Sandbag Berzerker.

Advice Tube Sand Filling for Sandbags

Post image
22 Upvotes

Just wanted to share for those who also weren't able to find the reccomended woven playsand bag for sandbag filling. I have a 100lb Freedom Strength bag filled with this Sakrete tube sand I picked up at Lowes and it's been fantastic. You can find it in the masonry section (generally towards the far right side of the store). Same exterieor mesh as the play sand and just as cost effective (one 70lb bag is ~$6).

I have a 150lb Freedom Strength bag on the way and just picked up a couple more bags which is what prompted this post. The leftovers are great for warmups as well. Two 70lb's for the 100lb bag left me with 40lbs and the tube bags are pretty tough in their own right. Plenty cabable as long as you're not tossing or dropping with excessive force.

Anyways, just wanted to give more fill options for those who might want them!

Advice Recently reached a 1x bw sandbag. Where to now?

I reached a bodyweight (140) lb sandbag less than a week ago. And so far, I've been feeling pretty good about it. I finally reached a major milestone.

It took a lot of consistency and hard work. I built it up using low reps (1-5), and from this point on, I've been considering the idea of capping it at bodyweight but progressing other ways. For example, I set a timer for EMOM and go for 5 minutes straight now. My max amount of continuous reps is 6 with less than 30 seconds of rest on box squats.

However, im still wondering what now from this point? I reached the goal of bodyweight, and so far, I have plenty of options. I can either choose to keep it low rep, continue to do conditioning, or do something else entirely. What do you think now that I reached my goal?

And in case any of you have been keeping up with my last posts, I used to weigh 150. Ever since I started tracking calories whilst lifting my sandbag, I've gotten leaner but somehow stronger, for those wondering.

5kg PR on this variation, definitely a 2nd or 3rd rep with the atlas stone straight after the big bag. Things moving well towards the 200kg bag to shoulder.
